Starting over, 5 years after surgery

Thank you both for the encouragement. Did get up and walk today, and did get started on 5 day pouch test. Set some goals too. It's important for me to come here and check in. Thanks again. Hope today is good for you. I read something this morning - have to sacrifice who you are now for who you're going to become.

Starting over, 5 years after surgery

Haven't been here for months-banded in November, three fills, only 12 lbs down. And yes, it's me who has failed band. Sporadic and rare exercise. Stuck on scrambled eggs, but manage to eat bean burritos, a lot of eggplant parmigiana, and binge on chocolate. So, as we can only move forward, my question for all of you awesome banders is- is it too late? Did I blow it or can I start again - what is the best way to do that? Thanks so much for advice/support. I don't like myself much.

    Daily Protein

Yes. Shake every morning. But I read here somewhere that we should eat calories rather than drinking them. A little confusing.

    Daily Protein

Good morning all! It's Saturday - hooray. So here's the thing, I haven't had a fill yet - am just 22 days out - and can still barely finish my unjury Protein shake in a.m. I have a yoghurt four hours later, and then another four hours latereither tuna or chicken salad (the four spoonfuls I can manage to get down before I'm full. dinner is turkey chili - one cup or something similar. Still feel as if I'm not getting enough Protein and where would I fit in veggies, fruits, carbs? I'd be grateful for ideas - am getting filled next Friday - yikes! Have a wonderful day everybody!

    Question

I actually called my doctor about same thing today and he said twinges and "tearing" feeling are normal (I'm 20 days out). I do notice that if I sit too long, when I get up it really hurts. Haven't walked since Sunday. Mad at myself. My lousy excuse is that my job is so stressful and I get home so late. Those are lame excuses. Have to do better! Good luck feeling better soon.
  7. Hi. I was only banded Nov. 8 - was worried too because it is surgery, but easy in and out, and I agree with others - only minor discomfort afterwards. Though I've only lost 12 pounds (20 days), I do feel like a new person. I feel hopeful, in control, and so excited. If you decide to do it, commit to changing your life, eating the right foods et cetera. good luck!!

    Salty Snacks?

Hi. I'm 12 days out in full liquids. Doing real well so far except for extreme craving for pretzels or chips. I mean, I just want that crunch and that salt. Any suggestions? Thanks friends, and happy Thanksgiving!

Stuffed Myself And Still Lost Hmmmm....

I think you women are awesome! I find such great support and inspiration at LBT. Just two weeks out, and so much is changing - as one of you just mentioned, it's about changing the relationship we have with food. I've been feeling a lot of feelings lately that I would normally stuff down with food, but that's okay - better than being numb and also it's part of the journey. We have such a marvelous opportunity to rebuild broken lives - I'm going for that with every thing I have, if I have a chance to like myself again, and it means no more bagels and cream cheese or no more seconds, well my happy life wins. For the first time in my life, I can walk away from the food - this is a magical chance. Thanks to all of you veterans here for showing us how it's done. Have a great night. Anna

    Thanksgiving Dinner

first, Happy Thanksgiving to all. Not to be corny, but I am soooo thankful for my surgery and this chance to live the life I've imagined, and also so thankful for everyone who shares and cares on LBT. What an awesome support system.. 14 days out - protein shakes and maybe turnips, applesauce for me. Like all, company matters most! Enjoy!

    Am I Eating Too Much?

Everytime I come to the forums, there's a perfect conversation! I'm 1 week out and still on liquids till i see my surgeon tomorrow, then one week pureed, then one week mushes. Today is the first day I've felt as if i wanted to eat something - and not even a lot of anything - just some hot thick soup or a soft boiled again. I too am afraid of overeating when I can eat, so I'm going to be sure to measure everytime! I'm going to ask my surgeon tomorrow if he wants me to drink my protein or eat it (after pureed stage). In any case, love reading all of the advice offered here. Hmm. Shall I break my liquid fast with pureed bean soup or hummus (on a spoon?) Wonderful! Have a good night all!
  16. One week out! All good! Positive and pumped! LBT is awesome. Hooray for us.

  17. Congrats to all! I was banded on 8th and am soooo exited, happy, and hopefull. Following surgeons rules to a tee. This is going to change our lives! Reading these posts is awesome. So much good advice and camaraderie. Lots of water, constant sipping, heating pad helps, and walking too. Before surgery I was too ashamed to walk in public and oddly since surgery, I'm totally ok with it cause I m on my way. Even picked out a 5k to run in May. Put your goals out there everybody. Lets share. Hooray for us. All is good!

    Wanna Eat/taste Something

Yes. Awesome work, you're almost there. I'm seven days out - same craving for salt and a chip - but not going there. No cheating - just making this work. The Soup does help - i have good old fashioned cheap chicken bouillion - pretty damn salty. Best wishes, Anna p.s. does anyone know how to get a profile picture - a real photo - to stand straight?

Hi. Good luck. I am taking meds for bi-polar and depression, and I was approved, and banded seven days ago. All is good. Stay strong, stay positive. You'll get there. Best wishes!

16 Days Post Op, Down 20 Lbs

Hi. I called my doctor as I was five days out and not a pound lost - even with just clear liquids. He told me to be sure i was drinking enough - that if I wasn't the pounds would not drop. sure enough, amped up my liquids, and saw six pounds drop the next day - probably water weight, but I'll take it. I'm just so excited and hopeful for the first time in a loooong time. I'm taking 15-20 minute walks everyday, but my goal is a 5k in May (at my job). What are the goals some of you women have?
  21. Good luck. I am four days post-op, bought No-Whey liquid protein-revolting!!! Dr. Said skim milk is fine, and usual broth, sf jello, sf ice pops. Not hungry, but worried about protein. Best wishes.

16 Days Post Op, Down 20 Lbs

Sounds as if everyone here is doing pretty well. Me too, just four days out - not at all hungry -clear liquids till Friday - not a problem so far. Am pretty excited, and excited too as always about preparing for family for Thanksgiving. what do we eat women? I'll be on mushies by then? Thanks for advice. Take care everybody.
  23. Yes, congratulations. One day at a time. Lots of liquids -sip constantly, and liquid protein - nasty as it tastes - my surgeon has me on all clear.was banded 8th also, sleep whenever you feel like sleeping. Isn't this all about taking best care of ourselves? Do you have to go back to work tomorrow - for sure? Thoughts are with you. I feel better the more I drink. Good luck!

    Lap Banded 11-8-12

Hi. Banded on the 8th also. 55 year old wife, H.S. administrator, grandmother, et cetera, et cetera, right? We do so much. My incisions hurt so much more today than yesterday. But...I'm still so excited because I'm not hungry at all.Just clear liquids for a week - how about you? I'm on liquid pain medicine - Roxi something - makes me groggy, but all is good. Hang in there- good luck! Take care.

    Newly Banded :)

Kelly, Hi. Congrats. I got banded yesterday. Thanks to advice from forums, gas pain is dissipated. Am using gas-x, that helps, and a heating pad, and getting up every half hour or so to walk around my house five or six times - gas always comes out. I'm sipping constantly. Hang in there. This is going to be great. Best wishes to all! Anna
