Banded on November 20, 2012 and somehow my scars are red and really itchy. Especially the port one. Any suggestions before I go nuts?

I had a massive Migraine the day after surgery. I tried to stay hydrated as well' date=' but also took a pain pill & it eventually helped. It was the only pain pill I ever took.Get a cold wash cloth & put it over your forehead & stay in a dark room.
Feel better ![/quote']
Thanks feeling better, had my chai tea this am and it has really helped.
-
Caffeine pill I had a severe Migraine also!Sorry I had to have my chai tea (us) this am, i know it's not permitted but that's one thing I cannot sacrifice due to the caffeine.
-
I also had my surgery on Monday. I forced myself to walk' date=' even when I didn't feel like it, because I heard it was the best way to get rid of the gas pains - and they were horrible following surgery. About once every hour or two, I would get up and walk in my house for just 3 to 5 minutes.I stopped taking the pain meds on Tuesday night because they made me want to sleep and lay around.
I still have discomfort but things are amazingly better.[/quote']
Walking is the best remedy for those gas pains. I also stopped taking the pain meds, but still take my gas x. Having a hard time trying to get the right amount of Protein and liquids down.

I feel so much better today. Even did some Black Friday shopping this morning. Haven't taken any pain medicine today. Definitely think I'm done with that. Still aches on my sides and lower back' date=' like I've used my muscles too much. I will give it another day and see how it feels.[/quote']Glad you're feeling better and so am I. Also did 35 minutes on the treadmill, very slow of course and got out for some back Friday shopping. I also stopped the pain meds and going back to my chai unsweetened tea, I'm sorry I do need the caffeine when it comes to the 1 cup a day.

Thanks everyone, I scheduled a deep tissue massage this am with my therapist, luckily she is a good friend whom is not into Black Friday shopping.
My surgeon never put me on any special diet before the banding so I could also be going thru caffeine withdraw.

I know it's only Thursday' date=' but I am having a lot of pain in my sides. I have not experienced the shoulder pain, but just my sides hurting really bad. Has anyone else experienced this? The pain seems to be getting a little better, but I wasn't expecting my back to hurt. Before anyone bites me head off I will call my doctor tomorrow if they are open.[/quote']
I was banded on Tuesday, other than a real bad Migraine everything seems to be normal. Are you bruised at all? Do you think it might be gas pain, tried gas-x?
-
Pain Is mild, just feeling very full and finding it very hard to drink the amount of liquids that I was told that I needed to take in. How about your pain? How are you doing overall?
-
Did your dr give you something to make reference to?? If the nutritionist is working with bariatric patients and your surgeon I would follow their unstructions. I was surprised how long it took me to get to eat applesauce' date=' it certainly wasn't in the first 2 weeks. I did use cottage cheese in the liquid stage - added to my Soups and blenderized, just to give it more Protein.[/quote']Both the nurse and nutrionist work for the dr's office. So did you have applesauce on the 2nd or 3rd stage?
-
4. I thought everyone would have the same.
-
I was told by the nurse at the hospital that apple sauce and cottage cheese was allowed on the second stage which is 4th day to 14th day. However the nutrionist told me no, those foods were allowed after the 3 rd stage. Little frustration at this point, but other than that very happy that the journey has started. Any tips are welcomed and appreciated! :-)
-
Wow! I'm excited and nervous about the upcoming journey, advice welcome for tips on grocery and shopping list.... :-)

Welcome' date=' I am in the same stage as you so I understand!! You will find a wealth of good information on this forum and I also highly reccomend you order Jean McMillan's book "Bandwagon"...I wish I had bought it sooner when I was dragging through my six-month mandatory weigh-ins!!Good Luck, you came to the right place![/quote']
Thanks for the heads up on the book, I'm having a hard time trying to find it online. Are you waiting to get banded?
-
Waiting for insurance approval for the band, in the meantime anyone wants to share how to prepare before the surgery? I'm new here and would welcome help and support, since im keeping this procure from most friends and family.

Wow! You're doing great, I was banded on November 20, only lost 15lbs. I go for my first fill this coming Friday, so hopefully that will help with the often hunger attacks. Keep it up!
