  1. I've started training to run but it hurts my knees so bad! I want to get an elliptical and I'd like to get a weight machine for the home too. There isn't a good gym close by and I don't want an excuse anymore. Any suggestions on home gyms or ellipticals?

  2. Had a fill almost a week ago and I'm still only getting liquids down. I feel like I constantly have a lump in my throat. I can eat one or two bits of something liquid or soft before I fill stuffed but not an hour later and I feel starved. Getting some slime and PBs but no vomiting. Anyone have any insight?

  3. I agree with Mis73 but would like to add that my mom is a nurse and she also convinced me that the band was a safer option. Also, I've seen several people "beat" bypass by overeating and thus gaining all of their weight back. That can happen with the band but since it's adjustable you can get yourself back on track.

  4. Along with my weight, I've struggled with depression. I've had to come up with new ways of thinking and talking to myself. I started to think like this. It took me 25 years to put this weight on, it won't come off overnight. In a world where we expect instant gratification it can be really hard to wait for what we want. 3-5 months must seem like an eternity but think about it like this, in less than 6 months, you'll be on track again. You've lost 88 lbs so far and that is wonderful!! You've lost a 4th grader! You only have a 5th grader left to lose! :) Everything will be okay. We all have set backs but these kinds of experiences make us stronger!! You can do it and we are here to help you make it through.

  5. One thing no one told me about before the surgery was how much getting into and out of bed hurts post-op. While I was in the hospital I had the elevated bed with the side rails for help so I didn't really notice it until I got home. I never realized how much we use our abs to help us move around!! Just be prepared to move a little slower that first week. I had to swing my legs off of the bed first and then use my headboard to pull myself up to get out of bed. That is one piece of advice I wished someone would have given me!! Good luck!!

  6. I had the same concerns. I felt like people wouldn't understand and I felt like I would be admitting to the world that couldn;t do this on my own and I would look fat and weak. However, I started to get so excited about it that I just couldn't keep it in any longer so I told everyone via Facebook about preparing for the surgery. EVERYONE was so supportive it make me feel so much better. I've started posting pictures of me as I lose the weight on FB for people to see and even a year later the support is amazing. It's up to you if you want to tell people about it because it is something personal. However, you might be suprised and the amount of love and support you get!

  7. I want to have a baby so bad but I am not quite at a healthy weight to do so. But I have baby fever and have been thinking about a lot of things.

My biggest question for those of you that have the band and a baby after the band, did you have a c-section or could you do vaginal delivery?

Did you have port pain durring pregnancy as your body grew?

How long after you started trying did it take to actually get pregnant?

These are just a few questions I would really like to know about. Thanks in advance!

  8. Hello! I'm Liz and I am new to these forums. I wish I found this place so much sooner! I had my sugery February 9, 2011 and am down about 100lbs. I still have about 90-100lbs to go. I moved from Arkansas to Kansas almost a year ago so I've had the experience of finding a new surgeon for my fills and what not. I had my very first fill 6 weeks post op and did great. I had him add a little more about 6 months later and have done well with that. I moved after that so I went about 6 more months without seeing a surgeon. I had my new doctor add 1 cc of Fluid and became totally obstructed. That was the most horrible experience I've had during this time. I went back to my doctor less than a week later and he took 2 ccs out. I gained weight for the first time since my surgery and that has been very disheartening. So last week I had him add 1 cc so I am back to where I was before I visited my new doctor. I am still trying to teach myself to eat correctly. I get so hungry and then overeat and that is so uncomfortable. Anyway, am very excited to have people to talk to about this experience and look forward to meeting new people and learning new things.
