  1. I am totally angry that I didn't do thorough research on the band. Now having to put myself through two more surgeries to get another 40 lbs off just to save my life or lets say prolong it a few more years. I am a little scared because these are major surgeries and I'm almost 71 years old. But whatever happens will be God's will and have to put my faith in him that he put in the hands of the right surgeon this time.

I put in tons of time researching the band back in 2008 with my first band... I'm just sorry I put in more research on the bypass i could have possibly saved having 3 surgeries myself .

I read and witnessed so many botched bypasses it scared me.

  2. You definitely haven't pissed me off lol I like k owing the truth about what's in the stuff i put into my body. It's just my nutritionist recommends so many artificially sweetened things it's confusing. And sometimes I want something that tastes sweet. What do you do to satisfy a sweet craving or do you not crave sweet at all??

I do crave sweet too. .. I am satisfied with a "Oh yeah" Protein Bar or a vegan oatmeal cookie these all have sugar but only like 4-6 grams and really biv only need one or two bites and I'm good.

My nemesis was chocolate, I always ate very healthy made good choices but had a weakness for chocolate. .I look for natural sugar or organic sugar in my sweets. For popsicle I eat a brand by fresh and easy that has low sugar or I buy "so delicious" soy almond milk mini ice cream sandwich. I spend a little more $$ for these brands. Then I don't eat them often.

  3. Omg I totally agree with you. I wouldn't have anything sugar free before because its so bad with all the chemicals. Now I'm completely dependent on sugar free so I am often eating Popsicles or Jello or drinks with aspartame or sucralose. I am sure that cannot be good for my health. Of course neither is being obese. I feel so conflicted!

You do what's right for you, I don't touch. the stuff and never will...ps sucralose is not the bad one Aspartame and Asculefame are poison. Why would you go through this type surgery and then eat poison? Did you know that there are 92 side effects of Aspartame one is death?

Are you conflicted about that? Sorry I'm sure i will either piss you off or someone else that reads it. I am politically direct not politically correct.. I just don't understand

  4. Two weeks solid now my male cat has woken me up between 2:00-2:30 doing the 'nobody loves me everybody hates me' cry while wondering through the house...I'm about to KILL him!!!!

    HW 312' date=' pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 219[/quote']

Lol my main coon does that and I talk back to him we carry on conversations every morning while I get ready for work. He is especially vocal in am because he wants to be fed.

  5. I'm 13 days post op. I am also at a stall for 4 days! I haven't moved 1 pound. It's so frustrating because I see so many people in the beginning drop a lot of pounds. My stall began on day 9 post op! Seems strange.

Anyhow' date=' right now everything that I eat is basically a sugarfree item (I had Tomato Soup that has some sugar I suppose). But my brain feels like mush and I am suddenly confused over things.....

In the future, will I ALWAYS have to go for the sugar free version of an item? For example; if I have a small tiny peice of cheesecake, will it always need to be sugar free, or will there be a time where I can have the leaded version?

    Thanks[/quote']

Some surgeons say no sugar ever!

I stay under 10 grams of sugar and I'm good. Some foods are natural sugars. Just stay in moderation the less you eat or the less you crave it same with carbs. Besides for good weightloss the less you eat of those two the better the weight loss. Stalls are nothing new, I dumped 27 pounds post OP then, stalled for 1.5 weeks then started losing again. Body is shocked it will catch up. Slow and steady losing is good. Suggestion don't weigh yourself more than once a week the scale can be evil...... :-)

  6. I am taking my Vitamins. Not B12 though. Now this is my weird story with B12: For several years I have struggled to keep my B12 levels above 400' date=' I was only able to do this with weekly injections. (This is pre surgery). So most people after weight loss surgery have trouble with B12 and take a supplement or get injections regularly. I believe it's the most common deficiency post operatively. My last B12 injection was the first week of February, my surgery was on February 14th. 10 days post op I had my labs drawn and my blood serum B12 level was 1200. At 8 weeks post op my blood serum B12 levels were 1700. NO B12 INJECTIONS SINCE BEFORE SURGERY. also oral supplements. No b12 in my vitamins, Protein Bars or anything. This is baffling me. My providers (surgeon. PCP) don't seem to mind at all. I am needless to say very puzzled. I am still not doing injections (obviously) nor taking oral supplemental. I will have my levels retested again in a few weeks and see what it looks like.

Anyone had this happen to them or even heard of such a bizarre thing? I know there are some medical folk on this board. Looking for similar stories and ideas.[/quote']

We have a major hormone shift after bypass so out stands to reason maybe you're levels for b12 are fluctuating? I'm that way with vit d. I didn't want to let mine drop so I, started vitamins before surgery and have been taking them since as our absorption had majorly changed. Why wait until it drops?
