  1. Let me give u my story I have bcbs my paperwork was submitted on 9/25 I was told by the docs office it takes between 2 to 4 weeks. On 10/1 I cld insurance co I had been approved on 9/27. I cld my doc office she had not received approval. I cld the provider, they said they had fax info to doc office, so they re faxed info. On 10/2 I cld doc office twice and told them what insurance co said on 10/2 around 7 pm doc office cld with surgery date of 9/29/12. Case and point I was accerative in the process. Sometimes the folks working for the doc office do not go the xtra mile nor do they put themselves in our shoes. The morale of this story is help them, make calls and make it happen

  2. I just want everyone to know today I received my surgery date which is 10/29/12. I have serveral appointments to make, prep for a 2 week fast and shopping for essentials after surgery. I am excited. I have bcbs insurance and after all paperwork was submitted it only took 3 days for approval.

I want everyone who participates in responses and post thier journeys (good or bad) how informative and extremely helpful it has been to me. Truly if you are not a participant in this journey, most people can never understand where we have to go mentally and physically. For you pre and post sleevers I congradulate and honor your presence for truly you are people of courage, insight, preservance and you dared to dream that your lives count! I will be posting various aspects of my journey! I welcome your comments.

  4. Calm down all your fears are "What If's" none of these situations have happen yet. Refocus your mind, go read the info you received from the classes read it daily for reinforcement. I think alot of relationships will change among your peers, friends and maybe your boyfriend. So prepare yourself, you can handle it. Anyone going through this type of process is stronger than they think. You are going to be changing, so accept the fact others will too. Just remember those that love you will always be there for you. Good Luck you will be fine.

  5. For those of you who have Blue Cross Blue Shield can you tell me your experience and how long did it take for you to get approved or rejected. Thanks

Just wanted everyone to know I called bcbs and received my approval. My request was submitted on Sept 25th and it was approved on the 27th yeah so it was a three day turnaround.

  6. I have not officially started my liquid diet, but i have been replacing meals for the past week. I have been drinking 64 oz of Water, and it is really hard some days without my new belly. You know the more you look at your goal the better. Keep your eye on the prize. food has gotten us all in this place, Celebrate your new beginning. This is really about changing your mind. Think about your favorite food (one item) and eat that instead of sabbataging your self. For me I will eat a nice size piece of choclate cake, that is it. This is not the last supper, it is like having a new life, all things will be new so enjoy the ride. Change the way you think about this whole process lol good luck.

  7. I had hip surgery and it was placed in me if you have had problems with clotting you would have had one. I have had several surgerys but I did not get one until I had hip surgery 3 or 4 years ago. Not to worry just precaustion for folks we have had this problem. I dont have a surgery date yet.

  8. Beans' date=' Beans, Beans and you can make your own healthy refried or sauteed beans. You can add cheese to them too, yummy. Take one can of black beans and one can of red kidney beans or pinto beans. for your first time I would use one can until you decide you like it, add some salt, pepper and a little garlic powder or chicken seasoning to it and then us a potatoe masher to mash and squash them up really good in a bowl. You will be stirring and mashing at the same time. Then add 1/2 chopped onion to your frying pan with two tbls spoon of olive oil. Once the onions are sauteed, add your beans, cook and stir for around 10-15 min or until all the liquid is gone. Then eat them with some tortillas or whole wheat toast. I'm gluten free so no bread for me.[/quote']

  10. I started in July (late) and I have done everything but attended two group sessions which will be on the 18th of this month. So be of good courage, take this time to really get into your head about what you are about to do. I have started particing the 30-20-30 rule if you are not aware of it i can explain. Just try watching what you are eating and how good this process is going to be. Don't obsess about to much, i know it is hard, but truly this process is life changing and hard.

  11. Hi

I have not had my procedure yet my reasoning for selecting the sleeve vs band is that with the band I was told you have to go in and periodially have it adjusted. This was confirmed when I went to the groups and members there had the band. Oh there was a lady at group she had lost quite a bit of weight, she had to have a procedure because the band slipped due to her weight loss. So I think you would have to consider that as well. I suggest you talk it over with the support group folks, doctor and make a decision that is good for you.Good Luck

  12. Hi there I have not had surgery yet, but I am excited. Be positive you will succeed, you know people do not understand that there is nothing easy way out regarding this process. I think most of the time people have the feelings you have because usually we think of surgery after we have been dignosed with some problem. Well for us we have had a dignosis for a long time and now thank God there is a tool that can finally help us. I think you are very smart to get this procedure done while you can. You know our weight can cause so many many other illnesses. Be encouraged :)
