Trust the doc with this blood clots can happen months after your surgery u do not WANT ANY possibility regarding this. My doc prescribes shots after surgery to all his patients. I would if they did not give it to u.

Guess what people You really don't have to tell anyone WHY u are having surgery. You do need to tell managent that you will need time off due to medical reasons. THST IS IT. It is confidential information all over this U.S. Nor can your employer require you to tell him. For example hospitals, doctors can not go telling anyone even family about your medical condition if you tell them not. It is a personal choice, be cautious about employee/employer relationships. Good luck

Let me just say my doctor requires that you have Protein shakes 2 weeks before surgery and 2 weeks after surgery. One week after surgery I will be seeing him and the nut. So I did not have to worry where I was going to get the Protein Shakes, they were also Bariatric Advantage website (i did not want to run all around town looking and testing). They are very filing and I did buy enough for after surgery as well.
I too am a planner also the behaviors I began a month prior to surgery (10/29) was the 30-20-30 rule: 30 min. prior to eating no liquids, 20 min. to eat meal, 30 min after meal no liquids.
I purchased all my Vitamins from Bariatric Advantage website.
Biotin from wal mart
plates, knives and forks (small ones)
2 new gowns
GNC: Protein shakers.
Other than that it took me 30 days to practice the behavior and I am still working on the 20 min. it takes longer. The 64 oz of Water daily I have conqured that. I also quit coffee, tea.
I think that is it, good luck.

My doc said 5 to 7 days after surgery a leak can happen. He said u will feel different than u did after surgery u won't b able explain it it jst is. He said call office or go to emergency (same hospital u had surgery no other) tell them u had wls and call your doc he will tell them what to do (he also said that wls doc r always on call at the hospital) . Although scary I am comforted. My surgery 29th.

I am in day 4 preop diet not a problem. For those of u having problems look at the goal, whatever is going to get u to the finish line is worth it. Is it what we would like to do NO, but we hve done what we like and look where it has got us! We hve been blessed with an opportunity of a life time. What has helped me is I made a list of things I am going to do, in my new body, the people I will inspire. You have to look at the goal, where u r now is just the journey enjoy it and write down each struggle. So when u get to the other side and want to recapture old habits look back at your struggles. We are a lot stronger than people give us credit for. Enjoy each experience good and bad, each one plays an important role in your success. Be blessed.

I am in day 4 of preop. 3or 4 Protein Drinks daily and 64oz Water no problem: my test were
EKG
chest xray
Blood test
Stress test where I had to walk on tread mill for 10 min. A week b4 my preop I started walking jst 10 min a day. Pass all test jst on preop diet(only shakes) until surgery date10/29. Oh my doc requires shakes 2 wks after surgery as well. Again docs r different.

Just would like to add taking the Vitamins for most of us will be for life. The older you get at some point you are going to have to take a pill look at it this way; if you continue to gain weight at some point it will cause high blood pressure, arthoristists (forgive spelling) mayb dietabities (then you will either take a daily pill or shots more than once a day) . You must ask yourself hmmmm which would I rather take daily vitamins and be healthy or these other choices?????? Our weight WILL and HAS caused other health problems that is a fact. Your taste buds will change, the foods you like today may not b the foods you will like after surgery. Hope you make your choice not based on emotion but facts. Good luck to u.
