I hate it when people post just to post.....

LJM - Sorry you're on enforced hospital bed rest. The bright side, it should help with the stress since the docs and nurses are there to make sure you and the babe are constantly monitored. SNT - I've been contemplating a cut too. My hair is halfway down my back but every time I mention cutting it my DH makes his "Nazi" face. Alas, sensitivity training only taught me to be an equal opportunity abuser. he he

    Band Erosions

Aperfectwom, what a great post. Thanks especially for the statistics. I appreciate that you didn't list the reasons, but urged people to do their own research and to try to eliminate those behaviors that could potentially cause erosion.

Yeah, the e-mail notifications haven't been sent from LBT since yesterday. I'm glad to hear you got another fill and are feeling more restriction. I've found when at the proper restriction level, you rarely feel funger and when you do, just a little bit goes a long way.
  4. I quit after smoking for 20 years with Chantix, too! The only side effect I had was more vivid dreams. Initially I experienced unusual drowsiness in the evenings the first couple of weeks but that passed. My husband also successfully quit on Chantix. It was truly painless and effortless.

    Pouch Test or diet?

It's the same thing. I've done it a couple of times and lost approx. 3 lbs each time. It's probably something you should do right after a fill and if you feel you need another fill, do it before going for a fill because many experience a renewed tightness in the band after the the 5 Day Pouch Test. I found it easy to do think it's probably a good idea to do during plateaus as well.

    sex parties

Have to confess, I also had the same thought. :grouphug:
  7. Yes, I got the "stuck" feeling (although never had to PB) when drinking very cold liquids after my 5th fill. It's been about 6 weeks since my 5th fill and I still am happy with my retriction level but I notice I can drink cold liquids now without getting "stuck". If I try to gulp too fast, regardless of whether it's cold or room temperature, then I still get "stuck". Luckily with liquids, it passes relatively quickly if you walk around.

    anyone take abilify?

My son was misdiagnosed at the age of 11 as bi-polar by a quack pyschiatrist and prescribed Abilify. It made a very skinny little boy balloon up to 3 times his size in 5 months! I took him to another psychiastrist who completely detoxed him off all meds and rediagnosed him to his original diagnosis of ADHD. After stopping Abilify the weight just melted off within 3 months. He is now 15 and too skinny but eats enough to feed a small family.

    Sick Leave

Approximately a week is about right. Even though physically I was not in pain, about the 3rd day afterwards and until the 6th or 7th day, I was very easily tired, dizzy and weak. Remember, after the surgery, you are on a severaly restricted liquid/mushy diet and it's a drastic change from your normal diet. Your body needs time to recover from the anesthesia and the drastic change in diet. 10 days is probably optimum.
  10. JubJub, have you tried to quit? Who knows what you can accomplish when you're sober?

I hate it when people post just to post.....

It's funny, I was unplugged for 2 weeks and while I missed the posting, I enjoyed the down time too. Now that I'm back, I can't get on for an hour and I get withdrawal symptoms!

Is it just me or is Anne losing her attractiveness rather young?

I've got to ask this ...

The band, when at the proper fill level, does A LOT as far as the ability to take in solid foods (not so much for liquids). Also, being at the point of taking such a drastic step as surgery does something to one's pysche. Finally, the band is always there and always reminding you to chew slowly and choose wisely. Once people start seeing results I think it motivates them that much more to do even more. Weight loss, exercise and improving the body becomes a new kind of obsession, helping to muffle the food obsession.

Sure. Now you can go back to the 'tinis. On a similar note, since I stopped smoking again, I've not had a drop of alcohol since NYE. I have to be comfortable again with being smoke free before I indulge in things that make me want to be naughty.

    Decided against the Lapband

Great going FalloutGirl. I had a friend who lost 60 lbs through Weight Watchers 20 years ago and have kept it off all of these years. She's kept a food journal the entire time and I believe that's been her key to success.
