  2. The day after was much better than the day of, I was banded Thursday Oct 4. Today though, I've had bad indigestion all day long. Gas X no longer helps and it's the only hell I'm feeling. It's like hunger pains and indigestion all at the same time. Idk what to do to get relief. :-( I hope to feel better by Monday, I'm going back to work and school then.

  3. I just got banded yesterday and I feel so much better than I did yesterday. Although I was starving yesterday, I couldn't eat anything because of the bloated/gas feeling. GET GAS X. That plus my pain medication (lortab oral solution) got me through yesterday. Today I still have a bloated feeling in the center of my breast/start of stomach but I'm able to get liquids down and keep them down. I am finally half way done with a 14oz Protein Shake, after 6 hours...

Hang in there! Everyone's pain tolerance and recovery time is different and from all the responses I've read, it almost always gets better! Good luck you two!

  4. Amazing and congrats. How long did that take? I just got banded yesterday and recently purchased a bunch of new clothes (I'm addicted to shopping so it couldn't wait) I figured I'd have time to wear it anyway. I am so excited to buy smaller clothes, I must admit I did buy a pair of smaller jeans. Can't wait to fit into those.

  5. I'm in the same boat as you! Just got banded this morning and the pain/bloated feeling was horrible. I feel a lot better right now than I did earlier, I'm sure I can thank the gasx strips. I started with 4 strips when I tried to have my first bowl of broth (I could only stomach 3/4 spoonfuls) and less than 5 mins later my first huge burp! I then passed out from the pain medicine and when I woke up I took another 2 strips and yay another burp! I just had my last two for the night, the box said not to exceed 8 a day. The gas is minimal compared to earlier. Its mostly in my shoulders and right at the start of my stomach (between my breast) it hurts a little if I take a deep breath. If I continue or get worse tomorrow I plan to get a heating pad and hope that plus gas x get rid of it finally.

Congratulations by the way! Good luck on your journey, add me as a friend here or on myfitnesspal htown_chic2002.

Good Luck tomorrow. I think things will go fine tomorrow for you. I had the surgery over 2 years ago. I lost 60 lbs my first year and then i gained 40lbs of it back. There will be alot of things you will have to alter: Your food and drink intake. once you have your surgery I can help you or guide you if needed. I will be here for support. I live in Massachusetts.

    Good luck with surgery

    my name is Kurt[/quote']

Thanks Kurt! I appreciate any support! =)

  11. I'm being banded tomorrow and can definitely use a few supporters, gym buddies, text buddies or real friends for this journey.

I'm so excited and not as scared as I thought I might be. My EGD was just done Monday so that maybe why.

Anyway, I'm on myfitnesspal as htown_chic2002 and on the north side of Houston. Message me or friend me!

  12. Hi! I'm Gloria and I'm in Houston. I'm getting banded tomorrow and I'm so excited. I'm using true results too. I use myfitnesspal app and you can add me there as well, htown_chic2002

I'm in north Houston and love meeting new people! I think I'll need more friends going through the same thing, some of my friends are happy for me but don't really care while others seem jealous.

I have a membership at fitness connection and if you're interested we could work out together or share meal ideas.

Good luck to you and keep in touch!!

  13. I was groggy for two days' date=' but I saw everyone else that had surgery after me come out doing just fine! I started at 197 and I am now at 174 in 6weeks. I would like to loose faster. I go this Wednesday for my first fill. I would like to be under 170. I went from 120 to over 170 with my second pregnancy. I went from size 5-7 to 14-16. I am so ready to get into 10-12!!! I've been 14-16 for 17 years![/quote']

Over 20 lbs in 6 weeks is pretty inpressive, im sure after your fill you'll drop even more. I just want to be under the 200 mark! Good luck on your journey and keep me posted. I'm scared of the fills the most, I never really thought that they were going to be poking me with a needle every month til yesterday! It will all be worth it in the end.

  14. I don't recall having much pain' date=' but the anthesia made me very tired and sleepy. The pain isn't all that bad..... I just don't do well with anthesia! I had surgery on Tuesday and took off work the rest of the week. I was more tired and week than pain.[/quote']

Hi Gloria! How long after the anesthesia wears off before you didn't feel groggy? I don't do much at work and always feel tired anyway, maybe going back to work a few days later won't be so hard. How much have you lost since your surgery? Thanks for the reply btw!

  15. Hello all, my name is Gloria and I just had my first consult for Lap Band surgery yesterday! I've been researching (and saving) for this procedure for as long as I could remember.

A little bit about me, I'm 28 single with no children. I'm in school full time attempting to obtain a nursing degree. I also work full time as a receptionist. I've been over weight my entire adult life and I only have myself to blame. I tried many fad diets with no success and I tried the "hard way" diet and exercise when I was in my early 20's and did have minor results only to gain it all back (and then some) after going through a job loss and depression. At present day, I'm at the heaviest I've EVER been (5'0 250lbs) and can't seem to lose more than 10 pounds and keep it off! I haven't had a full panel blood work done in over 5 years so I don't know if I have any underlying medical conditions such as diabetes or hypothyroidism. My blood pressure fluctuates but usually is borderline.

I recently became insured through Aetna but unfortunately my policy excludes all bariatric surgery, just my luck! Apparently the company I work for didn't purchase the plan but the center I went to found a small loophole, sort of; Hiatal hernia. I'm now scheduled for an EGD on October 1st and per True Results, if they find I have a hiatal hernia, the total cost of the surgery gets discounted about $4000! I know it sounds horrible but I really hope I have one!

I had an EKG, PFT, physical exam and lab work done yesterday and aside from the upcoming egd I was told I could have surgery as soon as the 4th. It all seems to be moving so fast, I'm VERY excited but a bit apprehensive. I've never been put under and I'll have that first experience with the egd. I'm also curious about other pre-op clearances I was told I needed by one doctors office weren't brought up yesterday, mainly a psych evaluation and sleep apnea study. Are these not needed for "cash patients"?

When it comes time for surgery, how many days should I request off from work, just a receptionist here. I'll have to keep in mind I'm in school too and will have to make arrangements there too because of stairs. Any advice from those who've recently had it done. Pain felt when you wake up on a scale from 1-10? I appreciate ANY feedback, comments, questions or concerns. Anyone else from Houston, please add me or keep in touch!
