  1. I am 2 years and 4 months post op and I just found out i'm pregnant. any advice?

I know it's been almost a year, can you let me know how things went? My doctor don't want to remove any Fluid. I'm almost 5 mos. It's been rough!! I was banded one month after you! Thanks for posting this! It is so hard to find info on the subject.

  2. I just had the same experience and had a slight un-fill. My tightness was stress related and I went back two weeks later to get a fill and I'm back in the zone! I can say I have let myself stay too tight before and my esophagus dilated and I had to have all the Fluid in my band removed for four weeks do it could heal. Took me six months to get back into the zone and gained back 20 lbs.

I'm sorry that happened, but I'm glad to hear you are back in the zone!!

  3. I had the same issues I could not eat anything for a week and I would end up bringing everything up. I was in the ER and they diagnosed me with a hiatal hernia. My surgeon is telling me that I may need to have my band removed

I'm sorry to hear that! How are you feeling?

  4. I know I hate when I get this response but have you called the doctor? It sounds like you may have a tad to much Fluid. At least this is

What has happened with friends of mine that are farther along in there journey than I am

No your response is fine!! It just started on a consecutive basis within the last two weeks. I last had a fill over a month ago and I was fine until 2 wks ago. I'm a weirdo!! Lol

  5. I would say' date=' call the doctor. Whenever something seems wrong, that is the best thing to do. I know mine has someone on call 24/7.

Good luck tomorrow when you call.[/quote']

We discussed it on my last visit which it was on and off then. I will reach out to him by Friday if no improvement. I wanted to see if it corrects itself because I had to take off work with my son who has been sick.

  6. I'm in my 7th year of being banded. The only issues I have are that I cannot eat rice or apple skins... and no carbonated beverage. All other foods are fine.

If I am "tight" in the mornings I will have a few sips of coffee or tea.... then wait 10 mins. then I can eat my breakfast. Sometimes I am tight 3 out of the 7 days of the week but then I can got weeks without being tight in mornings.

Maybe you you need a tiny defill?

Tomander, that's kind of what I am experiencing. I talk to my doctor and he said with people with the older bands and some women have stated similar issues, but I have been tight on and off for awhile. May sound weird but I have noticed when it rains I'm tight and when I have an allergy flair up. But never consistently.

  7. Hello everyone.

I had surgery 12/21 and have received 4 adjustments. My last adjustment was 4/18 and I feel I am at my green zone. I had an appt 5/20 and my dr and I decided I did not need a fill. I have been eating a good meal until 2 weeks ago. Now I'm not able to eat hardly anything. (4-5 small bites then done!) recently I started drinking warm beverages prior to eating and I can eat a tad more. I'm not losing weight at all now and actually gained 1-2 lbs.

Have anyone else experienced this issue? I can NOT eat Breakfast anymore. Not sure if its due to my aggregated allergies or what.

  8. My doctor wants me to lose 4 pounds per month' date=' and that's what's happening. I don't have any restriction yet, and have had 4 fills. I'm hoping this fill next week will put me in the green zone. My doctor told me to wait 25 seconds in between bites and to take extremely small bites. But with no restriction this is impossible for me to do..But the good news is that I do yoga 5 days a week, ride my bike for 2.5 hours every day or if not every day I walk about 6 to 8 miles a day. So the exercise is up where it needs to be, and I don't eat sugar or processed foods. I feel bad when I see the postings of people who have lost 50 to 90 pounds but then I remind myself that will be me one of these days. Thanks everyone for posting, I can't tell you how much these postings helped me the first few months. I don't have any stuck feelings, but if I eat or drink to much I get a lot of shoulder pain.[/quote']

Don't worry about what others are doing and where they are at in their journey. Your focus is you!! Look to them as motivation to get to where you want to be. Some have more to lose than others so it will be hard for everyone but the ultimate goal is the same. I started at almost 400 lbs and some started at almost 250 lbs so the weight loss will vary for some. Watch the amount you're eating and Keep your focus and you will be fine!!

  9. I am down to 194 lbs :) a total loss since starting the pre-op diet of 24 lbs. My band has exactly 5ml in it. I know this now because i got very sick this week and my band was so tight after my last fill i couldn't swallow Water. Even had to spit out my own saliva (gross i know)...and if some saliva trickled down my throat i would vomit it up. My stomach was sealed shut. So in an emergency situation i had to remove 0.4ml in order to swallow my liquid antibiotics. At that time i checked the amount of Fluid. It was 5.4ml. Thats the magic number that sealed my stomach closed! Lol.

    How are you doing now?

  10. Yes' date=' absolutely. Some days I can eat and some days I can't eat anything. Like right now. I am hungry and tried to eat but the food just sits in my throat and comes up (I can tell this right on the first bite). Then, other days, I can eat like I don't even have the band. But even on those days, I try to keep it sensible and closer to the ideal portion size. This is the most frustrating and annoying thing. However- and this is what I'm going to talk to my doctor about tomorrow- is that if take that first bite and can't eat- I PB (unintentionally) and then it's like: whoa! Now that all that slime is up, there is room to eat. I don't understand it and I don't think it can be good. In an attempt to understand it, I think (and this is probably wrong) that all the saliva I've been swallowing (i.e. the slime) has built up and when I take that first bite, it upsets the saliva and makes it come up. Then, that barrier of slime is gone and my stomach is ready to accept food. I hope that's not too much or graphic for you but that is truly my experience. I hope you fair much better than me. This is most difficult and I'm just about a year post op.[/quote']

No it's not too graphic for me!! I know what your talking about. I have had that problem when my allergies are really bad and I was assuming its because of my allergies. It don't happen often, but I have experienced your problem. Today is one of those days!

  11. I am very restricted in the mornings.I can't really eat too early.I have to drink something first then later on after an hr or longer i can eat breakfast.Sometimes even a Protein shake will bother me.Its normal to be restricted in the mornings.Sometimes i am more hungry then other times. It depends really.I only eat when i am hungry.

Yes this is exactly how I feel!!!

  12. Because of the band I am very rarely hungry....like it says' date=' one of the characteristics of the green Zone is "No Hunger"

Many people say they experience that between meals.....I experience that 24/7 and it has nothing to do with eating...it has to do with the presence of my band

telling my brain I am full, don't need to eat, even though I have not eaten....in other words I have no interest in eating, and there are times I will forget altogether...especially when I'm busy....

I have to remind myself , (and force myself) I have to eat even though I really don't feel like it......

And when I do eat, the band will let me eat just so much....unable to over eat even if I wanted to.....another trait of the green zone - "Portion Control"

I know exactly what you mean when you say 2 bites and you're done....that is how it is for me also....

People think it's a physical thing, as though you can't eat or keep anything down...and you can only eat slider foods, etc.....it's not!! They don't get it because they have never experienced it......NOT that I'm full, I have NEVER felt full with the band.

I LOVE the band, have never regretted this surgery one bit......the first 6 months were hell, with a lot of adjustment...both the band and myself, and plenty of stuck episodes until I learned......but after that, after getting in the Green Zone and experiencing what I stated above, it has been the EASIEST thing I could have ever done to loose weight.....it's a new lifestyle...the weight just naturally comes off without even trying......

I have not had a stuck episode in I don't know how long.....18 months?

I am at a point now, where, as my Dr. has said, there is no more weight left for me to loose....I'm finished!!! It just can't get any better than this!!

And I still don't miss food one bit.....it is a new lifestyle, a new way of thinking and living....FREEDOM!!!

Of course, the band is adjustable, and people can choose which avenue they wish to achieve their success.....and getting there is the hardest work of all and I feel many have a hard time getting through that phase, and some choose not to....[/quote']

If u don't mind me asking, when did u have surgery and how much did u lose?

  13. Thank you for your responses. I have really been lacking on tracking my food because I'm so finicky with foods most days. Now today has not been too great. I'm an emotional and taste eater and I ate more today than any other day.

  14. Honestly no...

How many fills have you had?

When you say you cant eat anything' date=' can you at least get liquids down? How about soft foods like yogurt or cottage cheese?

I am not at proper restriction so I do battle hunger a lot, but I never have trouble getting things down (unless I eat harsh foods like a pig without chewing properly)[/quote']

I can eat but I may only get two bites in and I'm done.

  15. Naturallyjai' date='

I had my 3rd fill. My dr will not tell me how much I have in my band, he says I should not worry about that. I will tell you my second fill brought me to 4 ml. I have no idea how much he just put in. I am on liquids only for today and feel no difference yet.[/quote']

My doctor does the same thing. My first was 2.5 ccs that's only he made a mistake when he gave me the form I had seen it. I had my 3rd fill 4/8 and I think I'm close to the green zone. I have noticed that I won't hardly eat one day and then ill eat a bit more the next day. Mornings now until about 10:00 am or so most days I can barely eat anything and I think that why ill eat more some days than others because I will be up later.

  16. I am glad I had the lapband. I am happy to be going down instead of going up! I am curious if anyone have problems eating at times. Some days I'm not hungry and then another I may be starving, try to eat and then I can't. Anyone else have this issue?

  17. I have PCOS and I had Lap band surgery on 2/28. I haven't had cycles on my own for about 10 years. This Sunday' date=' I started a period on my own, but only lasted on Sunday and nothing Monday and now spotting again. Anyone else experienced this? It is amazing to have a period on my own, but what is up with it being sporadic days?[/quote']

I had this same thing happen after I lost 20lbs and now every month I have a cycle. I had not had a regular one since 2004 when I was able to get pregnant.
