  1. Thanks Fallon! I didn't get a breathing thing.. but the deep breaths I'll do that! didn't you get a hiatal hernia repair also? Didn't even know I had one but it makes sense because i'd have heartburn all the time and chest pains and was like ...geez what the hell is this!

Hi destynee1. Believe or not yawning does the same thing as the Incentive Spirometer (breathing thing). It applies positive pressure to the lung so your alveoli pop open to increase your oxygenation. But instead of telling you to yawn we'll usually tell you to cough and deep breath which also accomplishes similar results.

  2. Has anyone experienced a gain when they went to mushy?? I went up 1.5 in a day! And was too afraid to weigh myself this morning cause I didn't want to see if that happened more - I'm only day 2 mushy- not eating much at all.. 11 days post - down a total of 20 -or I was - til that freakin 1.5 lbs

Hi Diamanté. The same thing happened to me. But my body quickly adjusted and the extra weight came off within the week.

  3. Thanks soooo much for responding. I thought I was failing at this. I always felt like I was over-full & forcing myself to eat. @Honk I'm allowed to eat Soup, cottage cheese, fruit that is soft / canned in Water or light, and Greek yogurt. I can usually only manage to get 1 1/2 Protein Shakes down and maybe some cottage cheese & fruit & that's with trying to drink water.

  4. Okay senior Bandsters. I need some advice. I was banded on the 11th of October, and I'm going into my third week. I'm a little concerned because I feel like I'm not getting enough Protein. I'm trying to stick to the 2-3 Protein Shakes a day with 2-3 1 cup meals (soft meals) but I'm finding it difficult. Right now it takes me 45 minutes to an hour to get down a Protein Drink with minimal air. By that time it only gives me two hours before I'm suppose to eat again but by that time I'm still not hungry. The funny thing is, all though I'm not eating much as soon as I started sorts I gained back two pounds (which I'm not stressed about, just found it weird). And my stomach always seem to be singing to me making all kinds of rumbling noises (not used to that). I'm hoping that I'm cleared to start exercising this week (had hernia repair somI had to take it easy) and maybe this will alleviate some of these issues. Lastly I'm exceptionally tired which I thought would subside by now. I'm a little scared about going back to work like this considering I work 12 hour shifts.

  7. so I'm still in the hospital 24 hours later as expected still nothing to eat but I'm not hungry ...pain is pretty good except gas pain starting to be stronger in my left shoulder... walking a bit to leave that... need to go down for the xray to make sure the band is in place and then I can go home if all is well..

Hopefully you'll make it home today.

  8. Hey guys just got home myself. Stayed in the hospital for one night. Pain wasn't so bad, but the gas discomfort is. Today was my first time eating and I feel like I'm swallowing air with every sip. Trying to use a heating pad now. My doctor sent me home with Tylenol #3 for pain, but I only have pain when I cough. I will admit I'm a little hesitant to eat anything else until I figure out how to get rid of this gas.

  9. Had my surgery this am. Already home on the couch. Definitely having pain from the gas but so far so good. I was so nervous this weekend I broke out in hives. Hoping to blog my experience soon. Best of luck to you all with upcoming surgeries. It's an exciting beginning to our new healthier slimmer lives.

Hi good to hear you are doing well. Get some rest

  10. 1 day post op. Ended up having to spend the night because my surgery got delayed by 3 hours' date=' but, all in all, it wasn't a bad thing. Got some much needed rest & so far the pain has been tolerable. Thank God for pain pills, gas-x & heating pads.

    Hope everyone is doing well![/quote']

So happy to hear you are doing well. Keep us posted.

  11. Hope everyone is doing well. I'm two days post op now and feeling good. My surgery was Thursday at 11:30 I left the hospital about 5. Yesterday I slept most if the day just taking in Water as I felt nauseous. After getting medicine for nausea I feel so much better today. I have gotten in an Optifast and some chicken broth. I have pain when getting from sitting other than that the pain is not bad at a all. I have not taken pain meds since last night. So just wanted to update so new people heading in to surgery will know its not bad at all. The way I feel now I feel I'll be fine to go work on Monday;)

Good luck banders hope your surgery goes well!

Glad to hear you're doing well love.

  12. Had my upper endoscopy done yesterday and walked out of the procedure with my gastro's permission for surgery. Had my last surgical consult last night so I am all set for my surgery next Friday. Have not received approval for the surgery from Aetna yet but the surgeon's office swears they will have it in time and that I've done all I can do.

Lost 21.5 pounds in the first pre-surg diet week. One week to go!

@Fallbride. So you will be going in as I'm coming out. I will definately check on with you. Surgery for me is next Thursday.
