    Just Banded

Day three for was horrible as well....I think I over did it....I started experiencing shortness of breath and had to take deep breaths to get oxygen in.....I just got home from in the emerge, .got an X-ray, ct scan, ECG blood work and thank the LORD all was ok....they sent me home 12hrs later on bed rest.....man it was not a good experience not being able to breath.....But I love my medical team...the nurses and surgeons kept calling me throughout the day to see if I was ok...they were so supportive, I truly appreciate their gestures....I'm glad I chose that clinic......

    Scared To Eat

I'm experiencing the same thing, but I'm 3 days pot-op....but my MD told me that it's gas pain and unfortunately for some people it can last up to 2wks or so after surgery....just keep massaging the area, applying the heating pad and walking, that helps a bit. Good luck!!!
  3. OMG....So overwhelmed...excited scared..... I have been out all day since 6am....running around doing some last minute shopping. I'm so worried, I hope that I did not forget anything. Got my pre-op meds for pain and nerve pain.....boy this is really happening in a few hrs..... So scared that I did not really feel hungry throughout the day and supposed to be NPO after midnight.......I know I will be feeling the pain later. I'm so nervous right now, that I started cleaning my house though there's not much to clean...I have to keep myself busy not to think about it. The more I think, the more scared I get......I think the anticipation is worst then anything. O.K have to go keep myself busy............I'm usually so positive and optimistic but right now, I'M IN PANIC MODE....So prayers are needed and will be greatly appreciated!!!

    Is This The Right Thing???

I too am self pay and I was banded this past Friday....and besides the excruciating gas pain that makes me think why did I do this? So far no regrets, I am looking forward to my journey once I get past this stage. I too was a good size 140lbs before having my son 8yrs ago. After having him, instead of loosing, I ballooned up to 212lbs. I tried so many different diets and have been successful at losing, but after losing, I would gain it all back, so my biggest issue was maintaining the weight lost.....before deciding to have this surgery, I thought about it for 2yrs. did extensive research before I felt comfortable to say this is what I want to do. I feel this is a great tool to help achieve and maintain a healthy weight. And since I had gestational diabetes and was recently diagnosed as having impaired glucose; I said enough is enough, I don't want to get to the point where I must be on medications.... So again, this is your choice, this band is a tool to help us achieve our goals, and if it's available why not use it? People who can not walk uses Wheelchair to get around (that's a tool).....and some have pace makers to have their hearts function well and that too is a tool.....so why not use what is available to us to achieve our goals? Don't worry about others judging, cause its about you, about how you feel and how you want to feel once you achieve your goal....they don't have to know..... So do your research and make sure you are very comfortable with your decision and that you are willing to make the necessary changes to live a bandster life......Good luck with whatever you decide!!!

    Plateau

I'm not as far out as you are yet, but from past experience, after doing the same exercise routine for a while, your body gets used to it....so you may need to change it a bit or kick it up a notch to move past the plateau....I know for me, from past experience, every 2 weeks I had to change my routine in order to see the scale move.....But I don't think you should decrease your cal in take, cause the body needs its nutrition.....Good luck!!!

    Banded 9-27-12

I got banded 3 days ago...and no pain except for the gas thing....That's my biggest complaints....so my mom suggested I take 10cc of Milk of Mag.mixed in about 30cc of hot water....I did it, and boy did I get rid of a lot of gas.....I tried the gas-X but it did not work well for me. or you can also try boiling garlic with cloves....and drink as tea....that help as well with passing the gas....I had a much better day today then yesterday......Hope that helps, good luck!!!

    Just Banded

Oh boy...yesterday was the absolute worst for me...not so much pain at the sites, but the gas thing...IT"S horrible.....I feel a bit better today, and still have some gas....but my mom made me take 10cc of MOM with 30cc of hot water, that did the trick, got me farting up a storm which helped with the gas....and the left shoulder gas, still there, my cousin have been trying to burp me like a baby, it moves around and comes right back...each time I try to burp, I feel like i'm having a heart attack....I can't wait for all this to go away.....but I managed to walk for about 45mnts today....resting in between ofcourse....

We are band twins lol...I got banded this morning around 10am and was home by 2pm.... I was dizzy after I woke up, but so far no pain, just gas bothering me in my stomach area now....earlier mild discomfort around shoulder, but now it's mostly in my abdomen. Been walking and taking gas=X religiously to help. But happy it's over with, good luck to you too...we can go through our progress together, lets keep each other updated.

Eating A Microscopic Bite Vs. Self Control

Everyone is different, so each should do what works for them. If u r ok with bigger bits, that's great for you. But others may have issues with bigger bites and so chose to have small bites, the size of a pea if they wish. As miss73 pointed out, she only posted it for others who have been having issues with big bites. We are here to help each other through this journey not judge. Do what works for you, but others benefit from different advice....I personally love this site...as I read different advice's then choose which one works for me, very informative.
  15. Hello all September bandsters...It' official ...I'm a bandster as of this Morning. Surgery went well and home already/.....so far no major discomfort, just dizziness...I hope i'm not worst tomorrow! lol!!

    Second Guessing My Decision....normal?

I felt the same way... I had my surgery this morning, and while waiting to be prepped, I just wanted to walk out and say forget this, I don't need it. Because when I got on the scale I was down 3lbs and was not on a pre-op diet, so I started thinking I can do this, I've done it before by myself so why do I need surgery? Then it hit me, I can diet and lose weight, but I could never keep it off. Also the staff were so nice, they knew I was nervous, so they tried to keep me talking about other things not to think of the surgery. By the time I went in, I did not even know when I was out lol.....It's not bad, but I hate that I have to drink only water for the nxt 24hrs before starting clear fluids....and I'm so hungry right now. But the point is, we will try to talk ourselves out of it, but we just have to focus on why we are doing this and the benefits it will give us (good health). Good luck and wish you well!!!
  17. Thank u guys for your prayers and encouragement. I just got home, everything went well, so happy. I'm not having any pain (yet...lol)...I'm just really dizzy, but not sleepy at all. I feel a bit of mild gas on my left shoulder, I just hope it does not turn bad. Other then that all is well, I don't even feel like I have a band .....glad to be on the LOSER side now lol. Thank you guys again!!!
  18. Thanks for the tips...got my chapstick and water ready.....
  19. Thank you guys for your prayers and encouraging words...

    Swlc Or Slimband......

I had the same issue, but after my research, and reading a lot of threads from different websites.... I even joined the Slimband website...and many of their patients complaints were regarding the "BAD" after care. Dr. Yau is very experienced, however, once they are done, you are basically on your own "according to their patients". But when I did a search on Dr. Cobourn and his clinic, I found mostly positive things were being said across the board, from consult to after care. So to me it seemed like they were more on point and cared more about their patients outcome then Slimband....that is the reason I chose SWLC..... Again do your research (it took me 2yrs to decide)....and make the best choice for you. I felt more comfortable with my choice, because I know after care was a huge deal for me. Good Luck!!!

    Confused!!

Sorry for the typo, but yes I meant pre-op.....
  24. NurseLydsss

    Confused!!

My surgeon did not put me on a pre-op diet....I just have to eat light a day before and NPO after midnight.....So yeah, all surgeons do it on a case by case basis, so follow your surgeons recommendations.
  25. Congrats...hope you have a speedy recovery...I'm on Friday...and scared, but excited...keep us posted on your progress!!!
