    June surgery dates

How much powder do you put into the pudding? How much pudding do you eat a day? Thanks! I am having trouble getting my protein in too, the shakes are horrible. They were ok the first two weeks but I am so over them. I didn't have to do a preop protein shake diet but I can't imagine having had to do that then afterwards too! I orders some Nectar and I'm gonna try that and hope I like it!

    June surgery dates

Had surgery on the 26th and I am returning to work on Wednesday. I just sit at a desk all day, but I am nervous about going back and eating and drinking etc, I guess. I think I could have used an extra week but didn't want to use all my leave. I haven't even been at my current job a year yet, I will b on July 29th.

Anyone From Buffalo, Ny Out There?

That's a good idea, thanks. I have Popsicles and jello. Started eating strained puréed this week and its nice to add a few things and have noticed feeling hungry a few times now. I just got a new strawberry Protein powder drink because I was getting sick of the chocolate.

Anyone From Buffalo, Ny Out There?

I am doing well! Have lost 9 lbs since surgery. Having a little trouble getting my fluids in because I get full so quickly. I have to go back to work on Wednesday, so that will be interesting getting back into the groove of things!
  5. I'm sorry, but I just need to vent. My husband has been really supportive the last few months through the whole process and I am so grateful for that. I had my surgery on 6/26 and it has been a week and he has been very helpful up until this point. But now he has been asking me when we can have sex. I didn't have the greatest sex drive before surgery, but I really don't feel like I am ready yet and I'm really not in the mood at all. Now he's complaining about me being grouchy, which pretty much I am because of him! He just doesn't get it. Today he told me that I should stop with the whining that my surgery was a week ago and apparently I should be completely recovered by now. He also pretty much told me that this was an elective procedure and I did this to myself. I am just so annoyed right now! Sorry for all the TMI.

    Just annoyed

Thank you do much everyone. I really needed that pep talk. We woke up this morning and he's pretty much acting like we didn't have a fight last night. I guess we will see how it goes. I am still very tender and tired. I haven't been whining that much, when I brought up sex, I just told him I had major surgery a week ago and that is when he brought up the fact that its been a week and that I am really starting to "stretch" that excuse out and then "reminded" me that it was my choice to have this elective surgery like I should be in any less pain because it was my choice! I yelled at him and told him I didn't want to hear him say that again because he really sounded like an a*****e. Thanks again

I have been having some itching around my incision sites, probably from healing. I just have glue over my incisions. Has anyone else been having this problem? What have you been doing for it?

I just got the ok to do strained puréed food. I can't bring myself to purée meat or eggs to the point of liquid, so I am sticking with puréed and strained yogurt and creamy soups and apple sauce. Next week I can have puréed food through a colander, like the consistency of stage 1 baby food. I don't feel hungry at all and have just been eating because I know I have to. It's still hard to get my liquids in. I had surgery on the 26th and had a large hiatal hernia repaired at the same time.

Was sleeved on Wednesday and also had a hiatal hernia repair. When I had my EGD, my surgeon initially said it was a small hiatal hernia, but when he got in there to do the surgery, I guess it was quite large. Got home yesterday around 6, still in some pain and not hungry at all. Trying to get my fluids in, but keep having these burp/hiccup things that hurt pretty bad. Been walking around the house and don't feel as bad as I anticipated, so I guess all in all doing ok!

Getting sleeved today! Have to be at the hospital at 10, surgery is at 1. Very nervous and excited. Good luck to everyone else that is being sleeved today!!
  11. I started at 214 lbs (I am 5'0") and since started the preop south beach diet my surgeon required, I have lost 23lbs. Some people at work know I am having the sleeve and most of my close friends also know. A lot of people keep saying "well, you've lost all that weight already, maybe you don't need the surgery?" I just don't know what to say to them anymore. I don't feel like I can lose the next 70-80 lbs on my own without help from a tool like the gastric sleeve, but I am starting to question whether I am doing the right thing. I guess I am just getting sick of always having to defend myself and my decision. Kind of regretting that I have even told ppl I am having the surgery! Sorry for my rant, I just get so aggravated sometimes! Anyways, my surgery is on 6/26, so I am trying to get myself mentally ready, along with preparing my 5 year old daughter for the overnight stay in the hospital I will be away from home. Starting to get anxious and nervous but I am excited to be so close to beginning this new road to becoming healthy and happy! Thanks for listening

    June surgery dates

Had my final weigh in yesterday. Down 23 lbs since starting the south beach diet in April. Only have to go back to phase 1 of the diet until the day before surgery (6/26), then it's clear liquids the day before and then nothing after 12AM. Kind of relieved that I don't have to do an all liquid protein diet for 1-2 weeks like I've been reading a lot of you are having to do! Getting a little anxious about the surgery and leaving my 5 year old daughter for 1-2 nights. Trying to prepare her as much as I can beforehand. Thank goodness for my loving supportive husband who has been so wonderful the last few months!

Hi, I have my surgery scheduled for June 26. I am both nervous and excited! I have my final weigh in on Monday the 17th, but there has been no mention of a preop diet so far. Guess I will find out then!

Anyone From Buffalo, Ny Out There?

Hi, I am from Hamburg, NY. I have my surgery date scheduled June 26 with Dr. Posner at BGH. I am excited but nervous. The process did not take nearly as long as I anticipated. Have been on the south beach diet since March and have lost 20 lbs so far.
  15. Hi, I need some advice. I have gotten through most of the process and will possibly have a definite surgery date within the next 1-2 weeks. My close co-workers know that I am having the surgery. The place doing my surgery is trying to work around the week of vacation I have already requested off and they are holding a date right now for me for the week before my vacation. My dilemma is how to tell my boss. I know I have no obligation to tell them what I am having done, but I'm afraid if I don't tell her she will hear it from one of my coworkers what I am having done. I'm just really nervous. I will have been at my job exactly a year the day I'm possibly scheduled for surgery. Can anyone tell me what u have told your bosses? Thanks!

    Surgery and work

Well, everything is out in the open now! I didn't mention what I am having done, just that I am having surgery and that I will need two weeks off. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I officially have my surgery date on June 26th!
  17. Hi, my name is Julia, I am 30 years old and from the Buffalo, NY area. I have been contemplating WLS for a year or more but finally took the first steps a few months ago. I, at first, had settled on the lapband, but after going to my seminar and hearing about the gastric sleeve, my husband and I decided together that that was the better choice for me. I have been struggling with my weight for over 10 years, dieting on and off for most of that time, losing the weight and gaining it back, but my weight gain escalated when I got pregnant with my daughter. I was already overweight, but then added an additional 40 lbs on top of my 175. I had complications with gestational diabetes that required insulin injections. I was told that if I want to have another child, I will have to lose a significant amount of weight to help my chances of not having it again. I would like one more child and I just don't feel that going through that again is an option! I have not been able to successfully lose the weight for any extended period of time since then. I am now at 206 lbs and 5'0 with a BMI of 41. I just had my first appointment and have started the South Beach diet (have lost 6 lbs since my initial weigh in thanks to the stomach flu). I have my psych eval next week and have to have my EGD and sleep study. Once those are done I will be able to have my appointment with the surgeon. I am very excited to finally have taken the first steps in my journey to being healthy and look forward to getting to know everyone! Thanks!

    Hello! I'm new.

I do not have a date yet, but I do have to admit that BGH has been very thorough so far! How long did it take you to get a date? I'm getting the egd done next week and still waiting for the sleep study place to contact me.

    Hello! I'm new.

Yes I am!! Have you already had the surgery?
