  1. So, I have to have a pelvic ultrasound on saturday and while making the appointment was told that I have to drink 32 oz of fluid before going in so I have a full bladder. How am I supposed to do that in such a short amount of time?? That usually takes me hours to get the much liquid in during the day.

    Question about ultrasound

No I didn't really think about it until I was off the phone and it dawned on me that I wasn't sure I could drink that much in a short amount of time. I was thinking I would drink as much as I could before hand and hope it was enough...

Anyone From Buffalo, Ny Out There?

They are there to see if you have food addictions and if you do, to help you before and after you have surgery. When I had my eval, there were a lot of questions about depression, alcohol abuse, drug abuse (which all tend to be associated with addictive personality). I think if they find you have an addiction, they want to be able to help you not to fail if you have the surgery. And to make sure you are capable of making that type of decision. I have also heard from multiple people including one of the NPs at Buffalo General that after you have surgery if you have a food addiction, people tend to "shift" their addictions to something new, whether it be alcohol, drugs, etc. I agree though, it would be nice to have a psychologist that has some personal experience with the situation. I went to Colleen Edwards in Elma, Ny. I have a history of depression and drug abuse when I was younger, she recommended counseling, but she said that she recommends counseling to everyone. I don't know what kinds of insurance she takes, but I have united healthcare.
  7. I am 2 months post op and things have been going great, I am down 56 lbs since I started this journey in April! Had surgery 6/26 and I was looking at an old pic and I am so glad I did the surgery. Feeling great and it's been a lot of work, but so worth it!

    56 lbs down!

Don't be depressed! You've lost more than I have! I've only lost 32 since surgery, but was told that I would lose slower because I didn't have a lot to lose. I lost 24 before surgery. 34-35 lbs is awesome. I always try to think about it as when would you have ever lost that much in such a small amount of time without surgery? You've lost that much in less than 2 months, that's pretty awesome!!

Anyone From Buffalo, Ny Out There?

Hi, yes I had him. He is very nice and thorough. He explained everything, allowed me to ask questions and was really great pre and post op. After surgery he tells you to call his office day or night if you have questions or concerns and calls back no matter what day or time. You don't see him until you are okayed for surgery but the NPs are great. I like Susan Tobias the most. All of the staff there have been really great.

Did u have a jp drain?

I didn't have one and was told that my surgeon doesn't use one unless absolutely necessary. You should talk to your dr about whether he usually puts them in or not.

    JUNE 2013 Sleevers?

Was sleeved on June 26th. I didn't have to do a preop diet other than the south beach diet phase one for 1 week before surgery. Was 188 day of surgery and today I am down to 171. I am only 5'0 and when i started this journey in April I was 212 lbs. I have been having trouble getting all my protein in too. I can't drink the protein shakes anymore. They make me nauseas. I try to have foods high in protein for all of my meals and drink milk. I have my 1 month follow up on monday and will ask about protein then. According to the meal plan they gave me, they want me to drink a protein supplement until 4 months, I really don't see that happening if I can't tolerate them now!
  20. Has anyone had a problem with restless legs after surgery? I had surgery on June 26 and the last few days I have had the most horrible restless legs especially at night when I am trying to go to sleep. I have never had a problem with this before. Any insight into what could be causing this would be great! Thanks.
