Aw - thanks for the compliment!!! It feels good to support others as they try and accomplish their goals, in as much as I need everyone to support me in accomplishing mine. When you said the BMI issue - I went and checked!! You are right - I am 3 BMI points away from being overweight!! WOW - how great that will feel!!!!!!!!!!! You are doing excellent as well! 3lbs into the Valentine's day weight loss challenge. Way to go!!! Let's keep on keeping on!

I must admit - I fell off the wagon with regards to the 5 day pouch test diet - at the end of yesterday, I went back to solids. Hehehe. I have decided not to do the pouch test diet to completion. My restriction is still there (eating about 3/4 cup of the right foods - more if they are slider foods.) I have lost more weight this week. A part of me is so excited to be 242.2lbs. I dont remember the last time I weighed that LITTLE. When I started the recommittment journey on 11/24 I was 255lbs. But at the same time I am realizing how much time i wasted. I went a year and a half without losing any weight because of my food choices. It's all downing on me and the realization is really setting in that my success is completely driven by my actions and food choices. I definitely could have been at goal by now (1.5 years wasted thinking that the band was a wasted investment rather than working the band.) But I am here now... Right now, I need to work on going back to the gym. Havent done that yet and I am struggling to excercise. Are you exercising, fellow strugglers???? How do you motivate yourself to go to the gym??

    Hello from HOUSTON

Hi Amy, I am in Houston as well. Which doctor banded you? Did you lose any weight on your pre-op diet? If you are following doctors orders in terms of post-op diet, there is a possibility that you are retaining water from the surgery. How much water are you drinking a day? Hang in there. If you follow dr's orders, the pounds will fall off.

    Fat stories

LOOL - I love this thread because I totally relate. I remember sitting on one of those law chairs once and suddenly noticing that I am sitting VERY LOW compared to everyone else - and I am a tall lady. The legs on the chair had BENT because of my weight. I was mortified!!!

My band goals for January are: 1) Eat within 1500 calories daily 2) Weigh/measure everything I eat and journal on fitday.com 3) Excercise 3 times a week 4) Write about my experiences on this thread at least 4 times a week. What are your January goals fellow strugglers???
  13. Patience, patience, patience and be sure to FOLLOW DR's ORDERS when it comes to eating...

I have failed my band - SUPPORT GROUP

Hi Betrthnever Welcome to the group!!! Glad you have joined us and we can all support each other this new year, towards our weight loss goals. I'm so sorry to hear about the fills and the nurse was not putting the fills in!!! That must be really aggravating and it must be frustrating to think of all the lost time because of someone else's incompetence. I hear you and just the thought of it kinda makes me mad - even though it didnt happen to me!!!! While I dont know if that ever happened to me, I can tell you that I know what it feels like to go for a year and a half, almost two years, without a feeling of restriction (or what I thought restriction would feel like.) And it was frustrating - I hated that I had to go through this procedure only to end up eating MORE than my normal sized friends and not lose at the rate I wanted. It was frustrating to come on here and see everyone elses successes, that I stopped coming - worst thing I could have done for myself. So I think you have earned those feelings, and you SHOULD feel them.....then put them behind you to allow you to TRULY get back on track. I'm so glad you feel restriction - I do too, now. And that feeling of restriction has helped me get back on track - I've taken back the ownership for my weight loss and I think you have to. betrthnever - what are your goals for the MONTH OF JANUARY?

Yipeeeeeeeeee Elizabeth!! So glad everything went well!!!!! Needed that to go well and I am glad it did!! Sounds like you are sticking to your post op dr's orders with regards to diet. Congratulations!!! Nice work. How many calories are you sticking to daily? In addition, when you say you feel no restriction, are you looking for fullness or just satiety? What quantity are you eating per meal? Curious Tabby

Welcome, welcome, welcome, Kaelin's G MA!! We are so glad you have joined us!! Congratulations on a good start this year - joining a thread with fellow strugglers and beginning the pouch test. I too began the 5 day pouch test diet today, so let's support each other through the toughest part - the 2 days of LIQUIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1  I particularly chose today so that by Monday when I go back to work, I am back to solids and normalcy. Dont feel too bad about the veggies at the end of the day. We wouldnt be where we were today weight wise, if we always made the right food choices. But in order to keep the weight off, we need to make good food choices more often than not. I applaud on on the good start, and challenge you to continue to stick to the 5 day pouch test. It is JUST 5 days. I know I will want to faulter too, and if I do, I will post here as well. Posting here on an extremely regular basis has really helped me get back on track and begin losing the weight, despite my occasional falls. It has helped me make good decisions 80% of the time, which is better than the 10% the past year. Please use this as a regular forum to post when things go well - we will Celebrate with you, and when you are struggling - we will help pick you up. Again, welcome, and we look forward to getting to know you!!!!

Hi Miranda, Hope you had a GREAT beginning to this year!! I'm excited for you and the fact that you will soon be banded!! Wuhuuu - welcome SOON to bandland. May I ask why they didnt band the first time? I've heard of some surgeons not banding because the liver hasn't shrunk enough. I think you are on to something. Even as a little girl, I was always pudgy. Pretty much all my life despite stints of athleticism. I wonder if a part of me self sabotages because I cannot handle being thing, being accepted, being a center of attention, etc. Really good point that I need to ponder. EVERYONE - Yesterday I was at a party and we started somehow talking about weight which led to obesity and weight loss surgery. Of course, no one at the table knew I was banded. One of the skinny ladies at the table vehemently insisted that people get obese because they are lazy - how did they let themselves get there? that banding is a lazy way out, and getting obese is a CHOICE. Tried to explain to her the addiction behind it but she was very VEHEMENT. I felt a little outraged by her perspective. Little did she know...if all I needed to do was "say no" and all my weight sorrows would go away, wouldn't I have waved that magic wand years ago???

I have failed my band - SUPPORT GROUP

Hi Everyone, I am back and I do have to report that from a BAND perspective, I started my new year in the GUTTER. On Dec 31st - I ate well all day until around 8pm when I went for a new year's party. All the day's good work went down the drain. Then yesterday, it was an eat fest!!! The good news is that while I could eat big quantities, I felt the satiety long term. BUT - Today is a new day, new weak. I already know that holidays are bad for me as my self control is not in check, but I am always able to pick myself right back up, post on this forum and have a couple good weeks which are always accompanied by weight loss (so far.) so as of today, I am back on track. I too am doing the 5 day pouch test diet to help me recover from the too day binge. Today is day 1 of the diet. Will let you know how it goes.
  21. I was 27 and NOT mentally prepared. This resulted in my failing my band. Now I am 29, 5 months away from the big 30 and I am finally (as of a month ago) ready for the band. However, I am still glad I have the band - it has taught me A LOT about myself.
  22. I', 29, single, no kids, and hoping to lose 40lbs by my 30th birthday on May 31st next year!!! That means I have to buckle down and make it work. I can be found daily on the "I have failed my band- Support Group" thread or clicking on the link on my signature. Hope to talk to you soon!

Also, please feel free to join the "I have failed my band-SUPPORT GROUP" if you want a place to post daily, get feedback from other strugglers and support others as well, along the way. We would love to see you there. Wishing you the best on this journey!!!

Ooh Crzytchr, I have been wondering about you and I am glad that you are feeling well enough to get on LBT and post. I'm so sorry to hear about the mystery infection and the blown vein - ouch!!!!! However, I am glad that you have made it back home and are on the path of recovery. Keep on it and we will keep you and your recovery on our thoughts. About the eating - Have you tried eating and can you keep anything down? if you cant keep anything down, then then we may have an issue. However, if you just dont have the appetite - well, with all you have been going through, that's something likely. So that makes it the somewhat good news. It sounds like you have nausea. Are you taking anti-nausea meds? For me, after every procedure, I tend to have nausea and really have NO appetite. I'm hoping this is what it is!!! Give it a couple of days and you will feel like a NEW WOMAN!! Do you have sugar free hot chocolate in the house?? Wishing you good health!!! Keep posting and you are in our thoughts!! Tabitha
