How have people found their bowl movements since preop to before they were able to eat a variety of solids again. It's all too much information I know, but I'm very constipated so to speak, I used to go daily but I quit smoking in October, that started an oddness when going now after 3 weeks of eating differently I'm going like every three days and then it's a struggle and is uncomfortable to say the least. Really I wanted to know if this was normal? Tomorrow is the start of week three, where I should be on mashies, although have been experimenting this last week with mash and such things, I've been trying to hold off as long as possible for optimum weight loss. Just to note, my connection had broke so my surgery was to reconnect not to have the band fitted, although did have 2mls put in x

I'm going to look for better Vitamins and a fiber supplement. At the moment all I take is a Multivitamin bug I don't think it contains enough. Water in a bottle starting from tomorrow, I may start a diary of it too, so I'm sure to count coffees and such like x

Yes I'm also from the uk, that's what I've got :-) I was just taking a swig here and there but I'm trying to take it as prescribed which is 15ml twice a day, tbf I'm not really eating anything at all, so there's not a lot to pass. I was thinking the same about making a bottle up, it's 2 liters isn't it?? Maybe it will do the trick if I'm say looking at it, it's strange cause I am thirsty, I usually notice this when I can't get my hands on a drink though lol x

Thanks for all the replies, didn't realize there were so many as I accidentally logged out. I'm going through a bit of a funny stage in life at the moment suffering with some anxiety issues so I'm reading all sorts into it, the constipation has caused a pile which has caused bleeding which has caused massive alarm bells ringing in my head, I feel all funny in my lower abdomen and am having a fair bit of wind both ends, TMI! I know - I'm sorry. Is it just because of my change on diet or do I have great cause for concern?? I'm trying my very best to drink as much as possible but like we all know this can be quit difficult so don't think I'm getting as much as needed bit like I said I'm working on it x

Thank you. I've got some prescribed stuff but never took it as prescribed because I didn't want to become reliant on it, I will start taking it more regularly though to see how I go, never thought about prune juice so will try this also x

    Port Disconnect

Oh also how long did you wear your compression stockings for?? Are you still wearing them?? I still have mine on bit they are driving me mad. I also still have my plasters on over my wounds?? The hospital didn't really tell me much and I'm jot sure if the same rules apply as last time... That of what I can remember of them x

Hi, yeah not too bad today, feel much better in comparison. My stomach muscles seem to be easing, it's not half as much of a struggle to bend over and stuff now. I slept in my bed last night too rather than the sofa which was nice. Still have some wind but no where near as painful as it was. I'm not sure if I've had any pains like I did before hand ill see how it goes as I recover more. My surgeon wants me to be on liquids for two weeks like mentioned. Today I've had a yoghurt which has satisfied me for about an hour. I'm so hungry my stomach hurts when it rumbles lol. Not sure what to do, I'm trying to stay on track as I know now the real learning curve comes into play. On the plus side, I have weighed myself and love what the scales say although I am aware that its mainly going to be Water, but I'm going to ignore that bit for a while lol. Hope your keeping well x

Thank you for that Cramer, although apologies as I've only just read it :-). So I'm still alive... That's a bonus! Lol. I was first in on the list remember it being about 9.10am then I woke up but I'm sure it was about 12.10pm I think that's a little odd, it taking so long I mean. Today I've got to say I'm very uncomfortable the whole top half of my body aches, I have four incisions and terrible wind pains, which if I'm honest didn't think I would have. Not sure if that was just hope though :s I can't pick my babies up or even have them near me for very long as the little ones aren't aware obviously, this is making me sad :-( I had 2mls but my original surgeon reckons I can go and have another fill in two weeks?? I don't even think my incisions will have heeled by then?? Any way I'm starving, too scared to drink let alone eat so won't fall off the wagon. I need to try and remember or rather force myself to drink though as I'm not having no where near enough. I hope I start feeling a little better soon, my pain threshold is rather low, so it's depressing me out, my neck even hurts?! Lol. Sorry to go on. Moaning and its Christmas! Merry Christmas x

Wow not long at all then. Im not sure where I will b on the list tomorrow, hopefully not last! I have to be there for 7 am, surgeries don't start until 9 am. I've really mixed feelings about it all if I'm honest. I don't hold much hope, all through our my pregnancy I was so looking forward to starting my journey or continuing it, however you may look at it and then it was found I had a leak, followed by complete disconnection. I can't imagine me ever being thin. I have two members of my family who both have a band and they are at their goal weight, I know it's odd as I can see the results in front of my very eyes, yet still don't believe it will work for me. Also I have the battle for the fear I may die, also pretty silly particularly as I've been there before, on the table I mean. Still can't help it though. As for the medication, I'm the same, if I'm in pain it's for a reason and I want to be aware of it. That's just in general, I only ever take medication if totally necessary. Thanks for the reply, I really do appreciate it. I hope the rest of your recovery is speedy x

I've never had anything in my band as I fell pregnant shortly after having or fitted, so I'm not sure what to expect in that sense although I do get restriction even without the Fluid, not a lot mind. I'm so glad you posted about how you got on, hmm I felt terrible after my initial surgery, I thought it may have been easier on recovery/pain but never mind. How long in total was you in hospital as this is my main concern with it being Christmas Eve and having small children. I hope your feeling a little better today x
  14. I know it's not my thread but its great to hear its not too bad, healing wise. When I had my band fitted I felt like I'd be hit by a bus. I even said had I have known I'd be in this much pain I wouldn't have gone through with it. Now I'm faced with surgery again tomorrow, I'm really not looking forward to it, I'm really scared and due to it being Christmas Eve and and having four young children, well that all adds to it :-( x

    Port Disconnect

I also have a disconnected port. I woke up one morning in mild pain, as the day went on it just kept getting worse. I visited a&e on the evening, it became that bad. Saying this they didn't diagnose it, that was the following week with my band doctors. This was in October. In two days ill be going to get it fixed. I've read that the wire can get caught up in things. I don't know if its just me being silly but it feels as though its knotting up around my internals at times. I've not really had the procedure explained to me, other than they will re connect it x
  16. I have one too, well the wire is completely disconnected now. I'm due to have surgery Christmas Eve "/
  17. I felt like I'd been hit by a bus for the first week and a small car for the second! Chin up, each day you're a little more better :-) x

    Feeling Discouraged!

I think your supposed to loose 1-2lbs a week, the more you weigh though initially the more you lose , weight loss will steady it's self out. Don't be disheartened, your on the road to success and already you weigh 35lbs less! I'd say that was a result! :-) x

    December Bandwagon Supporters

Hi ladies, I'm already banded but going to have surgery to fix it as originally my tubing had a leak but now has broke so its in two. Any way after bring banded I fell pregnant almost straight away so haven't had a previous fill/weight loss other than during my pre op diet. So technically I'm starting from scratch, my surgery date is December 24th :-o I have four children, so think it's rubbish, leaving them on Christmas Eve, I'm really scared too, secretly looking forward to it but trying not to get my hopes up because I've not had much luck up to know with it having a leak and what not. Again really scared :-( lol x

    Port Detached...

Hi, I got banded September 2011 and fell pregnant the end of October ish. My surgeon suspended my plan until after I'd given birth. I had a fill in August felt no restriction, saw my doctor, waited and had or attempted to have another full beginning of October. It came to light I had a leak. 4 weeks ago I went go karting and took a hit from the side. Two days later I had severe pain in my left side so bad to which I went to a&e had x-rays and it all came back clear I thought id broken a rib you see, turns out I didn't, the doctor said my rib muscle was bruised, I'm still in pain now all around my port area, today I went for an x-ray in order to see about fixing my leak and it showed that my port has become completely unattached, so the point of all this is am i experiencing this pain due to the fact it's become unattached or is it for a different reason such as band erosion? X-rays are clear, in other words they say all looks fine but no real test has been done to prove such thought. Can they really know from just looking at the x ray or am I just worrying for no reason and it is just because the port has become unattached. Really scared and confused :-( Can anyone help? X

    Port Detached...

Hi, hmm well I had a call from the hospital today and they're going to fix the problem for me, I will ask them to check my band whilst I'm under I presume they will any way but I'm still going to ask lol. So it's scheduled for Christmas Eve, which I feel odd about as I have four children. With my initial surgery I felt like I'd been hit by a bus for at least a week. So I'm figuring Christmas will be pretty rubbish from my point of view, hopefully it won't be too bad from the kids. Thanks for your replys they are greatly received :-) x

    Port Detached...

Yes it's definitely in two the tubing as it was me that was like oh because the band fill doctor couldn't remember me properly from the last time lol. It had a leak from the connector or the two tubes and that's where it's come undone/broke. I was due for a full and the barium thing you mentioned. Big he knew he already had the images from the previous full so did neither? My surgeon is looking at fixing it yes but due to the gap in time from surgery he doesn't think the private hospital will allow for this without payment, I believe he is negotiating with them x

    Port Detached...

Hi, sorry, my port hasn't actually detached from my muscle the tubing has disconnected.... I should have explained it better, that's how the full doctor phrased it to me. I've researched the pain and all I kept finding info on was about band erosion, never even thought the fact if the tubing broke it would cause any pain let alone this much Hmm well I started as a private patient the doctor is in thoughts of how to fund correction as he feels obliged as my treatment was suspended. In all honesty it's very confusing and the only thing I really understand about it all is that when I think about it it gives me a headache lol x

    Band Slip?

I've been reading up on this, from the knowledge I've gathered it seems your port may have become disconnected or you have a leak? X
  25. Hi all, my names Chelsea, im 24. I had my band fitted in September 2011. From preop to up to 4 weeks after surgery I lost a total of 2 Stone, I was due for my first fill at the end of October under x-ray but found out I was pregnant so suspender my treatment until I had my baby, during this time I put the 2 stone I had lost back on. A week and a half ago I had my first fill something I had been looking forward to throughout my pregnancy. So the day comes and I got 4ml put it, im not actually sure of the size band I have though, this is something im going to ask. In ny liquids only period I lost 10lbs but now I've found I have no restriction so am pretty much eating anything, I dare not weigh myself but I know ive put back on. I'm now waiting for my doctor to get back to me regarding a referel to get another fill. I was so excited atvtge changes the scale was telling me that was happening, now I feel slightly disheartened. Yesterday I was very bad and had a Chinese, mamouth sized a while I don't feel I i later learnt I had actually ate too much, I had terrible pain under my port and had to be sick to eleaviate it although now I have that torn muscle feeling, this is actually how I come across this site as I was looking up what/why etc. I'm already aware that this process is a huge learning curve and a different one for each individual. My mom has also had a band which was about 3 years ago now, she is a success story and has reached her target goal. Any way I told my mom what id done and the after math I was experiencing and it led to a right telling off and a 'i told you so' ... Never to old for it ay! Lol.
