  1. By the way I had my mother in law do this diet for a couple of weeks and she was not very strict with it. She did 2 weeks a month for 2 months and she lost about 20 lbs without the band. She went back home very happy. She did walk for a good hour every day. As she had helped us with our twin terrors for a few months, I was very grateful as well
  2. Pure Protein bars are low on fiber but they do taste very good and sweet. I did occasionally have one as dessert. Try them, chewy and come in many flavors.
  3. I have used both Bariatric Advantage and pure Protein Bars. Pure Protein tastes better but the bariatric advantage bars keep you full longer as they have a good amount of Fiber A shake or a bar with atleast 5 grams of fiber is what I like as it keeps me full and able to stay on this "diet" and make no mistake - the pre band diet is a diet and not something you can be on for long. It does help kick start weight loss though. :-)
  4. And don't forget the water! 8-10 glasses a day.
  5. Why not go back to basics? Do the pre-band diet for 2 weeks - Mine was 3 Protein Shakes and 2 bars a day (Under 180 calories each with 15+ gms of protein) + carrots, celery, cucumber and lettuce If you start to loose weight then you need to rethink how you are currently eating.
  6. Note that the amount of Protein varies a lot between brands, I like Fage as it has a lot of protein. Another thing to note if you are watching the calories is that the fruit flavored ones have a lot of sugar syrup. I prefer to put in my own fresh berries especially with all the fresh berries I have growing in my back yard.
  7. Have you reached out to your insurance company or their patient care group if that is applicable or the equivalent department in the National Health system? They probably have the muscle to make a doctor accept you as a patient to avoid the case becoming an emergency surgery.
  8. I try to do things I enjoy - Bicycling Tennis - hitting against a ball machine When I don't have the time or cant get motivated I walk.
  9. Well we would like LBT to make some money so it can stay in business :-)
  10. I think the ads are served automatically by Google based on browsing history. For example I am seeing and ad for Mule ESB (Infrastructure software) which I visited last week. I am sure LBT is probably not even aware of that software. You do make a great point though, Google should allow sites to exclude specific ads or types of businesses that should not be served up on their site. Context is very important.
  11. Couple of thoughts.. I did not see a mention of the amount of Protein and Fiber in the yogurt and granola, both of those are important nutrition considerations. Try a non fat Greek yogurt as that is high in protein and then add good quality low fat granola that has at least 5 grams of fiber. Instead of the premixed fruit syrup that has a lot of sugar, add some fresh fruit and berries. See if that will satisfy your cravings. Also consider using the pool for fitness, it should help without impacting your knees. I do like the Protein Shakes as well, muscle milk is one of my favorites!
  12. Are you on a pre-surgery diet? My surgeon's pre-surgery diet had very low carbs and good amount of fiber and protein. It really improved my sugar levels.
  13. Best wishes! I will tell you that I have not had to take a single diabetes pill since I got banded. Hope the same for you!
  14. Interesting idea. What is your calorie goal with this change? Are you trying to stay in the same range or has juicing helped you go up or down to get the nutrition you need?
  15. That is a glucose level reading I think.
  16. You joined the forum before your surgery so you are much better prepared than I am. Best of luck!
  17. How do you use the papaya enzyme? Is it mostly for stuck episodes or regular consumption of meat? Is it in powder form or tablets?
  18. I have tried pineapple juice as well, I have not seen any impact because in my case I was just tight and not stuck. Worth a shot though.
  19. I have heard that people with the band use raw papaya enzyme supplement as it breaks down proteins and is available at vitamin stores. I but have not used it my self so I would suggest confirming with your physician before you try anything.
  20. Hey, I was banded last august as well! My doctor has prescribed Prevacid Solutabs ever since I have had surgery. These dissolve on your tongue or can be dissolved in a couple of tea spoons of Water and taken that way. I am noticing now that I may need to increase the dose or change to a different med but it had worked well for the most part for at least the first 6 months.
