So i am having difficulties with body image and not adjusting the way i see myself. I find that i am getting more attention than before and people get mad when i have troubles accepting compliments or viewing myself as "pretty". Do you guys have issues with always thinking of yourself as the old you? I am nervous around new people because of the way people used to treat me. And if someone "likes" me i second guess myself constantly because i am even more shy now compared to before surgery. But i guess i have to remember that people who meet me now don't know the old abby, just the current. Even when shopping i find myself looking for the plus sized section all the time even though i'm and L-XL. It's weird. Does this go away?

Lapband surgery date 9-5-12
now 192lbs was 248lbs Goal 145lbs.
Here are a few before and afters! Scary to see what i came from, but proud to see the accomplishment. I will continue on my journey though at times it is very difficult. Could use some encouragement.

This is a good story because I find myself asking why did I get banded. I've only lost a little weight I have my third fill Friday I was banded May 10th this is a very slow process. I'm on and off the wagon every other day this is harder then I thought.
I had the same feeling, but then i read other peoples success stories and it helped inspire me to stick with it. but for months i held myself back due to not getting fills. Keep with it and i know you will succeed! even if you lose a little at a time it still adds up in the end. I know it is going to take more hard work, but we will get there!
I also go on walks with my dog multiple times a day and try to lift weights to keep my muscles strong, that helps the weight loss too.
hang in there!

Hi All,
I just have to say that I love my lapband. at first i was discouraged because i was not losing fast, but now i think i have finally hit my green zone! I had been disappointed after a few fills and stopped going in. I had stalled out as a result. The last fill was painful and they couldn't find my port, but eventually did. so i wasn't too keen on doing that again. i guess something in my mind thought i should be able to succeed without fully utilizing the tool, but i am back "on the wagon" and went in for a fill. It took a few tries, but they found my port and filled it .5cc more (totall 3.5ccs).
I must have been just about to hit the green zone because now I feel like i am losing faster. and it feels great! It is a huge accomplishment for me to finally be under 200lbs.
At my heaviest i was 252-254, surgery weight 248 and now i am 198! Can you believe it! There is a 1 at the beginning of my weight, not a 2, a 1! yay!
I still have a lot to lose, but i am on my way! So stick with it and don't miss your fill appts. and it will work for you too!
My surgery date was 9-5-12 today is 7-15-13

I had to go back on medical leave because I went back too soon and felt a lot of pain. annoying but I just need time to heal I guess.
Incision pain is normal especially around the port, they had to cut tissue to put everything in. takes time to heal that. I hope you feel better soon!

I will try that. Thanks.

My Doc had me on mushies day 1. i find it hard to get all the Water in ugh! sometimes you just want to gulp it down, but nooo.... lol!
The emotional roller coaster is hard, hope it gets better for you soon!

Hi,
I have been having heart burn at night right before bed time and it even wakes me up in the morning. If i eat / drink something it usually goes away. i have no fill and just got the band placed 7 days ago. it is super annoying when i am trying to go to sleep. any ideas on what may be causing it. Also i think i am hungry more that i should be. I know i have no restriction, but will a fill make this go away?
thanks,
abby

I got banded on wed and today was much better than yesterday. Though I slept most of the day I have been walking a bit. That makes my incisions tender though. I still can't believe I did it. It seems like a dream. Can't wait for the healing to be finished and the real changes to begin. Hope everyone else is doing good on their journey too.

I got my band 8/20 and have no Fluid put in til next month. My Drs diet post op is week 1 liquid' date=' week 2 mushies into soft foods, week 3/4 soft introducing solids as tolerated. Im almost to week 3 and Im actually able to eat most anything. (I've found a few soft foods that don't agree yet, so I steer clear.) I stick to mushies mostly, lots of low fat cottage cheese and really soft scrambled eggs. Had one instance with eggs where i probably ate too many and it hurt for awhile. I was also able to eat a small enchilada with some cheese and a soggy corn tortilla today with refried Beans. Ok, so not the healthiest of choices but went down just fine no issues coming back up. Here's my problem - I had a conversation with my boss who is a yr and a half post op and she has me super freaked out. Her surgeon required 6 weeks liquid diet post op and pre filled her band with 3ccs at time of surgery. I can eat so much compared to normal newbies (1-1.5 cup) before i feel resistance of any kind... But she made me feel like i am doing terrible and i caused damage already from eating solid food already! Im having some difficulty breaking old habits ya, but i felt I was doing much better. I just hate feeling like i could have possibly done damage or something...Ahh!! Am I normal to be able to eat this much food still? (with no fills yet) Do most surgeons require a much longer liquid diet? Could I have caused damage the couple times I ate too much because its so early? I've been super careful and am definitely sticking to the more liquidy kinds of foods til I get the reassurance about what's normal and the expectations. I was so prepared prior to surgery, but i feel like I've forgotten everything I spent months studying for!Banded 8/20/2012 - Heaviest: 512 - Current: 461[/quote']
My doc has me eating mushies the day of operation. So I county think its bad that you didn't have longer liquid stage. She is just nit picking. I'm sure you are fine. Your doc will let you know when you go back.

I am being banded September 5th. I am a little nervous as it gets closer. But excited at the same time. I have had gal bladder surgery so I expect the pain to be bad the first day, but more gas pain then surgery pain. Its more uncomfortable than anything else. But I will probably sleep through it when I get home. Wish me luck.
