  1. I'm from Illinois too! I'm having surgery with Illinois Bariatric Center. What's your date?
  2. This is such an encouraging thread. I started my pre-op diet today. I have 140 lbs to lose. This gives me such hope!
  3. Tomorrow at 9 I have my final pre-op visit prior to surgery. I'm having surgery on 12/4. I also start my pre-op diet in the morning. I'm excited yet I'm feeling a lot of anxiety. I'm confident in myself that I can follow all the rules for pre-op and post-op and yet I'm so afraid to fail. If any of you watch YouTube videos and are in the same boat I am check out bandedwendy. She has given me so much inspiration and helped me to really believe in myself that I can do this!
  4. I'm a nurse at a plasma donation center. Our company manufactures about 100 life saving medications. My husband and I also own our own business that he runs installing and repairing commercial and residential garage doors. I help with the paper work on my days off.
  5. Acetaminophen is the generic form of Tylenol. It should be available at most stores even if Tylenol is on re-call.
  6. I know what you mean. I need a winter coat right now but can't bring myself to buy one because I'm losing this weight and won't be able to use it next year! Plus it makes me so mad when most stores only go up to 2x and the 2x are snug on me. I remember back when I wore small and mediums. I can't wait to buy a normal size again!
  7. Thanks for the tip. I'm 2 1/2 weeks pre-op. I will remember this!
  8. Good job! I am planning on staring the C25K program as soon as my doctor releases me to. Keep up the good work. I can't wait to experience this nsv!
  9. Thanks for all the encouragement ladies. Nothing could stop me from wanting to get banded! And you're all right. She was just probably trying to be "politically correct" lol. I really appreciate this community and the support it offers. I hope you are all successful in your journeys!
  10. Today I was talking to a coworker about how I'm trying to lose weight. I did not tell her I'm getting lap band. (I'm scheduled for surgery on Dec. 4th) She was going on and on about how I'm just fine at the size I am and how I don't need to lose a single pound. I am 284 lbs at 5'7" BMI 45. I'm morbidly obese! I obviously need to lose weight! I don't understand why people do this. I have always been proportionate no matter what weight so maybe that's why. I just wish people would be supportive of my trying to get healthy!
  11. I start my pre-op diet next Tuesday. I'm thinking I'll probably have sushi for dinner and a white chocolate mocha from Starbucks for desert. I think that's going to be a rough day for me. I'll probably want to indulge all day long sadly...
  12. I'm scheduled for December 4th. I can't believe that's only 3 weeks away. I start my pre-op diet next week. I've been researching LB for so long that it feels surreal. I'm so excited!
  13. I'm getting banded on Dec. 4th. So far I have told my husband, my parents, my boss, 3 coworkers, and an old coworker who was banded 2 years ago. So far everyone I have told has been very supportive. I haven't told any of my friends though. They are all relatively thin and very health conscientious. I have a fear that they will all judge me and think I'm taking the easy way out or that I haven't tried "conventional" means of weight loss hard enough. I'm sure I will tell them eventually. I'm just not sure when. I am planning on vlogging my journey and posting my videos on YouTube so it's possible that anyone could see those videos and find out. I'm ok with that. I feel like I'll be judged less if I tell people I have the band after I'm actually banded vs telling them pre-banding because at that point their opinion doesn't matter since I'll already have the band lol.
  14. I'm having my surgery in Champaign. The staff is great. My surgery is scheduled for Dec. 4th. I am so excited! Have any of you attended their monthly support group?
  15. I'm getting banded on Dec. 4th! I'm so excited to get this journey started. I start my pre-op diet on Nov. 20th. I'm a little nervous with thanksgiving being that week. Only my husband and parents know about my surgery so I know my grandma will be upset I'm not eating lol. I'm shopping around for protein shakes this weekend to find what I like best. I'll update you all if I find any thing really good!
  16. I am scheduled for surgery on 12/4. I'm supposed to leave for a business trip on 12/11. That would put me flying at 1 week post-op. Has anyone flown that soon after surgery? I'm pretty nervous about the whole thing. I'm going to a conference so it will be a lot of sitting around...nothing strenuous.
  17. I can't wait to get there. Congrats!
  18. Also do you have the lap band or the realize band? My doctor is letting me choose which band and I can't find any thing that is really swaying me one way or another. Just trying to make the best decision for me. I may just end up letting my doctor choose. This is my first thread so I really appreciate all the help!
