  1. I have a question....Why is a daily BM not the norm for Bandsters?? This may be TMI' date=' but I go pretty much every day. Should I be concerned?[/quote']

It's the norm for any Bariatric surgery patient because you are taking in less total number of calories and less food....less going in means less coming out...it sits in your colon a little longer because there is less behind it pushing it out.

  2. Had lap band Nov 2011 and have lost a total of 64 lbs so far. A couple of months ago I started having some pain on my left side once in a while but it didn't seem to affect my band or eating then in July I had a fill and then towards the end of the months I was under a large amount of stress and started not to beable to eat or drink' date=' dr said that I needed to have some Fluid removed so I did. The pain on my left side has gotten worse but now has gone away but I am starting to experience some soreness and discomfort around my port area. Does anyone know if this is normal or could there be something wrong. I am so scared that there is something wrong. I know that im not in a good zone because since she took Fluid out im hungry. Any help would be great!

    Thanks ,

Sounds like an ulcer. Probably need an egd...see if your surgeon can trial you on some liquid carafate and nexium. If you notice improvement, it's most likely an ulcer. Best wishes!

  3. I'm not really sure if this is a complication' date=' or not, but I definitely feel like it's not normal.

I got my band in Sept 2010. I have lost a total of 85 lbs and now weigh 135 lbs. I got a fill in May 2011. Then, in December 2011, I started getting alot of heartburn, I couldn't keep liquids down and night coughing so they took out 0.8 cc. I was too hungry & gaining weight back so they put back in 0.3 cc. After about a month, I couldn't take the heartburn, couldn't keep down liquids and night-coughs, so they took out a little more. At that point, I started taking Prilosec every day and still am. In April 2012, I was again having trouble keeping liquids down, heartburn, night-coughs, so they took out a little more. Now, it's August 2012.... I'm still taking Prilosec every day and I have modified my diet to avoid alot of the foods I know cause heartburn for me.... but I'm still having bad heartburn, still having night coughs and throw up alot of my fluids.

Has any body else had this happen? All this time, I've kept on losing weight.

I do feel like I consider the heartburn somewhat manageable so maybe I've been ignoring it or just treating it and living with it for too long. Any thoughts, suggestions & insight are appreciated![/quote']

Those of you with the recurrent heartburn and vomiting. Has anyone tested you for h pylori? It's a common gi bug that needs two weeks of antibiotics to treat. It's a simple blood test and sometimes a very simple answer. We've had a couple band patients in our practice (I work for Bariatric surgeon) with similar complaints, we're h pylori positive, treated, and then like new. Good luck!

  4. I am getting banded in Wilmington NC but will be moving down to SC in January. Does any one know of a Dr. near Beaufort' date=' SC that will do fills and check ups? I'm trying to find providers online but am coming up short. I am even willing to travel to Charleston or Savannah. I am on Tricare--which i will be posting in the Tricare group too... just want to know if you guys know of anyone.

    Thanks for you help[/quote']

I work in a Bariatric office in savannah, ga. We accept out of program band patients and tricare, as long as we can get a copy of your records. Call 912 350 3438. Good luck
