    January Surgery Bandsters Group

Just saying, prep for a colonoscopy being banded sucks! Made it through the prep last night, took me 4 hours to drink the 64 ounces! Test went well today. Clean (pun intended!) bill of health!
  2. I am 15 mo post op. Maybe breakfast every other day (oatmeal or hard boiled egg). lunch is a little spinach, chicken salad, brocolli salad and some fruit. I am a bif snacker at work, almonds, Quacker Oat Squares mixed with banana chips. That is my go to homemade trail mix. Sometimes Peanut Butter with celery or a multigrain cracker. No Protein drinks or bars at all.

    Scared!!!

You can put anything you like intheblender! Be creative. I ground up meat and added a little pickle juice and Miracle Whip. Cottage cheese, refried beans, soup in the blender. There are all kinds of things!

    I cant stop eating bad

I would suggest to keep track of what you are eating. Hold yourself accountable. When you eat better things you will not crave the bad stuff. When you eat the bad carbs, they just make you want more. Find good things that you like. I have become a peanut butter freak and am thinking of changing over to almond butter. Would love some today, but I am on a clear liquid diet for a procedure tomorrow. Can't wait to eat again! But, I will get through this as you will too.

    Lettuce intolerance?

I didn't eat lettuce until a year out. It is just taking up valuable space where you could be eating something with better nutritional value. It will not stay with you to keep that full feeling either. Just my opinion.

    Pain!! Help....

I had hernia repair with mine and the pain from that lasted a lot longer then the band surgery. Square in the middle of the chest for about three weeks. Not bothersome though. I took my pain meds every night for the first week. It really helped. You have to be able to rest comfortably to help heal.

Hang in there Chrissy! You will find your way back to exercising. I can NEVER get up in the morning to exercise. I do it all at night.
  9. I agree with you. This is a problem! All of your friends are listed too.

    Not full!?!?!?

At about seven months out, I changed how I ate. Went to two meals a day and two very small Snacks. Just changed to try to only eat when hungry. Drank a lot more Water and exercised a lot more. Went to exercising every day for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. That jump started me and I lost 155 pounds by my 14 month point. Try to change it up a little. No Liquid Protein either!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Pretty rainy and cool here this weekend. Good for working in the yard again today. Going to see my surgeon Tuesday for a normal follow-up (15 month post op). I have been maintaining goal now for almost two months so I will visit with my nut to discuss what I should be doing now that I have reached goal. Have tnclean my house this week as my tennis boys come next weekend. One from Barbados, Bahamas and Argentina. Always fun to have them here each year and watch them play tennis for two weeks! Hope you all have a great week!

    coughing

    Hope you are feeling better.
  13. If you have been banded since 2010, you need to get off the Protein Drinks and eat real food. You are really missing out on all of the Vitamins and nutrients, plus the shakes will not fill you and are sliders so you will be more hungry. Go back to 2-3 ounces of dense Protein, 1/4 cup of veggies and 1/4 cup of a good carb. You should be able to do that two to three times a day with two Snacks if you only do it two times a day. I can't do it three times, too much food. My snacks are usually Quacker Oat Squares Cereal (dry), banana chips and almonds. Sometimes a slice of cheese and multigrain crackers. Find stuff that is good for you that you enjoy. Log everything you eat and track your exercise on something like my fitness pal. Are you taking any vitamins? You should be at least taking a multiple and calcium citrate. I also take a b complex and Biotin. Agree that you need to see your nutritionist to get you on track with real food.

Getting back on the Band wagon

Go back to logging and measuring everything. Eat dense protein so you feel full longer. Just remember why you did this. You were successful before, so you can do it. It's a big head game!

    eating healthy

I also think the calorie intake depends on how much you are exercising (burning).

    Reached your personal goal???

At goal for 2 mo now.
  17. I sometimes think it is better not to know! Numbers make everyone compare and no one is the same or feels the same.
  18. 0 at placement of band, 3cc at 6 weeks, still at 3cc 14 months later.

    losing hair

Talk to your dr. Mine gave me a vitamin regimen that I took for three months. A different combination every two hours. My hair stopped falling out and I have new growth. You can only stay ogn it for three months. Now I just take my calcium, multiple and I still take biotin. The shampoos did not do anything for me.

    eating healthy

Are you actually tracking what you are eating? Sometimes we are not eating as well as we think we are. Not saying that is the problem. It could also be the amount of exercise, or not having the right fill yet or the type of foods. I track everything. If you are doing everything right, talk to your nutritionist. They are there to help.
