Starting over, 5 years after surgery

That is awesome. Take some snacks with you when you travel. At least if you are starving you will have something that you know you can eat! Good luck and let us know how it goes.

    Medifast?

I am sure they cannot taste as good as real food.

    Which Exercise To Avoid?

That's great! Walk as much as you want. I rode bike too.

    Poop

I put powder fiber in my water every day and stool softener at nite. You don't want to get backed up!

    Which Exercise To Avoid?

Check with your surgeon. I was told no strenuous exercise for six weeks. Your stomach needs to heal. Take it easy!

    1/14/13 - the start of a journey!

That is awesome if you are still doing so well without a fill! I had one fill only, at goal now. I was banded 1/30/12. Keep up the great work!

    1/14/13 - the start of a journey!

You should be eating nearly a cup of food. 2-3 ounces of dense Protein, 1/4 cup of veggies and 1/4 of a good carb. Then see where you are. Keep up the good work, but don't starve yourself. Try to get off Protein drinks too.

    Help Please

My thought is, don't keep your band too tight. Remember, you have to live like this the rest of your life.
  13. This happens to most. Keep track of what you are eating. Don't lie! It will help if you use something like MyFitnessPal. I love it because it tells you what you should weigh in 5 weeks if you keep doing what you are doing. It is very motivating. Keep drinking as much as you can. Make sure you are getting dense protein in to help keep that full feeling. Drink, drink, drink. That helps too. Just remember why who did this. All of the horror stories I have read on other forums really helped keep me on track because I don't want to have problems. Please try to follow the rules to help maintain a healthy band. You do not want to have problems. Find other things or healthy things to do/eat when you get this cravings. I did a lot of reading, extra exercise, celery with peanut butter. Find what works. You can!

    Oh crap!!!

You will be fine! I was so excited and like you got really nervous and scarred right before surgery. Once I was prepped and ready to roll in for surgery I was excited again and then it was over. The best thing I could have done for myself. I am at goal now, 14 months post op. You will have so many exciting things to look forward to now. Good luck!

can't get all my protein and liquids in

It takes a lot of thought. You need to learn how to do it, because you will need to drink 64 ounces every day from now on! I have a drink with me wherever I go. My husband thought I was crazy at first, but now he understands. Just drink ALL the time. I use a 20 ounce glass and just make sure I fill it at least three times. Keep trying, you will figure it out. If I made my protein drinks with water, I counted it as my water intake.

    Going for first fill

Remember to base the need for a fill on how you are doing eating dense protein, not shakes, yogurt and bars. It will make a big difference on how well you tolerate real food!

    Need some input

I also bought a little mini pedal machine when I started, you cah use it on your arms also. I use it now when it is not nice enough to ride outside. They have them at Academy Sports and online at Target. I also bought exercise bands and an exercise ball. You can do lots of exercises with the bands sitting down or standing and I do sit ups with the ball to work my core. You can also go on YouTube and search for Chair Yoga. I started with that when I couldn't stand too. There are lots of options, just start doing a little each day and increase your time a little every couple days. I started with 15 minutes and now exercise 1 1/2 hours daily.

    Need some input

If you can go to the VA, do you have a military base near you? If you are a retiree you can use their pool. I have a neighborhood pool, but when it is too cold, I found the closest community pool. See if your Parks and Recreation has a pool near you.

    Need some input

I exercised in the pool for the first 8 months. It works. I set up my own routine of exercise in the pool. Would be happy to share it with you if you like. Also, I asked my PVP to send me to aqua therapy and they developed the routine for me because I had/have a hip problem and achieles tendon issues. If you have insurance, you might want to try that.

    Hiccup/Burping thing...

Yes, a lot of it is air. I had it and still do a little. My dr kept telling me you are eating and drinking too fast. I thought I had slowed down, but not enough. I still have the hardest time not drinking too fast and I am over a year out.
