That is exactly where my port is-right under the largest incision, toward the middle of my stomach. I go around and make my friends and family feel it

Thank you everyone. I was a little confused at her comments

I was banded on 8/7/12. I saw my nutritionist on 9/10. I saw her again last night and lost 4.5 pounds in that time. She made a statement like that wasn't enough weight loss. I thought that 1-2 pounds per week was healthy?

If only this was last year! I am just getting into an 18 now and hope and pray I am not still this size next summer LOL

For my pre-op lquid diet, I did aot of Protein Shakes, non fat greek yogurt, and creamy tomatao and butternut squash Soup (as per my nutritionist). No, I wasn't perfect and did slip a time or two, but it happens, we are only human. The shakes, soup and yogurt did keep me full and sometimes, I didn't get to eat everything I was allowed for the day (it really seemed like sooo much food to eat/drink!) Good luck on your journey!

I also had to do the 6 month diet consuling. I started officially in January and ended in June. My paperwork all came togetther in early july and I had my surgery on August 7, 2012. So, there is hopes for you to still have it in October! Good Luck

Glad to hear your band removal was succesful and sending out happy thoughts for a great pregnancy

Also, my surgeon reccommended a PCP that he worked with so that he would know what to write on the notes and where to send me for all the additional tests. And my PCP is a pulminologist, so that took care of the PFT

I just had my surgery on 8/7/12 and I have aetna. They do not count weight watchers :(/ You have to go to your pcp for 6 consecutive months and have weight loss counseling. If you miss one month, you have to start all over again. They also ask for previous history of weight to make sure that you have been obese, I hate that word, for more than two years. Unfortunately for me, they waited until 2 weeks before my surgery to tell me this and had me stressed out and didn't give me a definite approval unitl the thursday before the surgery(sorry I had to vent about them) Good Luck on your journey

I was banded on 8/7. I did three weeks of full liquids. Broccoli Soup was one of the things I was allowed to eat. Non fat greek yogurt, Protein Shakes, fat free, sugar free pudding was what I was allowed. I have been on the pureed diet for almost a week and have another week on that until I go to soft and semi-solids for two weeks. I will start solids on 9/26

It does get better. I am a little over 3 weeks out and had the same feelings you are going through. But the funny part is that this week I was allowed to start pureed/mushie food, and I am still drinking the shakes and yogurt. It does get redundant with the shakes, so I tried different flavors and then a different brand. I also tried Isopure Protein Drinks, just for a variety. Good luck to you on this journey!

Oay, so I just started stage 2, which I was looking forward to because I was tired of Protein Shakes and yogurt. But it seems like so much food to eat. I tried eating the dinner portion, which my nutritionist gave me 2 oz meat, 2oz veggie, 2oz starchy veggie and I could only eat 3/4 of it. Is this good or bad?

It really does get better. When I woke up in recovery, I did question whether or not I made the rigth decision with the surgery. But I am now 2 1/2 weeks out and the pain and discomfort is a distant memory. Gas-X worked wonders for me, as did walking.

It took a few days before I was able to go because there was nothing going in to come back out . But I am now 2 1/2 weeks post op and it is coming regularly. So hang in there!

Are you scared that it will get stuck or scared that you may fall into bad eating habits and afraid to eat?
I am more scared of it getting stuck
