  1. I am 3 weeks and 3 days post op, and advanced yesterday to my final stage of eating before maintenance. Going from pureed to small diced, add some soft fruit etc. Well yesterday, I had 1/2 cup of Beans (baked). (I have had Beans on 2 other occassions, no problems). I am 24hrs since the beans were consumed and have been suffering all day. Gassy, bloated, almost feel like I did 2 days post op. Woke up feeling full, bloated, tender when I take deep breaths........I am full of gas. Had to leave work and slept for 3hrs after a big poop and loading up on gas x. If I lit a match in this house, it would go up in flames.

I don't think it is anything else than something I have eaten, doesn't feel like the flu. I am blaming it on the beans............. Going back to pureed and liquids and chicken and slowely introduce anything new and done with beans.

Hopefully tomorrow is a better day.

I had the same thing happen to me! The gas was worst then my port pain after surgery. I have not had beans since LOL

  2. For my pre-op lquid diet, I did aot of Protein Shakes, non fat greek yogurt, and creamy tomatao and butternut squash Soup (as per my nutritionist). No, I wasn't perfect and did slip a time or two, but it happens, we are only human. The shakes, soup and yogurt did keep me full and sometimes, I didn't get to eat everything I was allowed for the day (it really seemed like sooo much food to eat/drink!) Good luck on your journey!

  3. I just had my surgery on 8/7/12 and I have aetna. They do not count weight watchers :(/ You have to go to your pcp for 6 consecutive months and have weight loss counseling. If you miss one month, you have to start all over again. They also ask for previous history of weight to make sure that you have been obese, I hate that word, for more than two years. Unfortunately for me, they waited until 2 weeks before my surgery to tell me this and had me stressed out and didn't give me a definite approval unitl the thursday before the surgery(sorry I had to vent about them) Good Luck on your journey

  4. It does get better. I am a little over 3 weeks out and had the same feelings you are going through. But the funny part is that this week I was allowed to start pureed/mushie food, and I am still drinking the shakes and yogurt. It does get redundant with the shakes, so I tried different flavors and then a different brand. I also tried Isopure Protein Drinks, just for a variety. Good luck to you on this journey!
