  1. Quick reminder about meeting this Saturday at E.B. Rains Park by the boat rentals, in Northglenn at 9am, rain or Shine. If it happens to be raining, let's meet under the Gazebo to the left of the boat rental. I'll post what I'm going to wear, on Friday, so you don't walk up to a random stranger Please let me know if you will be coming, thanks!!!
  2. This goes out to my CO ladies: I found a bag with some size 16, 14 & even 12 pants. There may be a few shirts in there too. I usually donate everything to Good Will, but helping someone else on B.P. would be great too. Let me know if you're interested in any of the sizes. Have a great Sunday! Fran
  3. Two regrets: 1) that I had lap-band surgery instead of the sleeve 2) that I should have done this sooner VERY happy to have done this!!!
  4. First of all, congrats on making the decision to have WLS to improve your health & lifestyle! Your profile didn't say which surgery you had "BUT," while you probably shouldn't have had any 'licks' (if that's all you had), you'll more than likely be OK. You should just be mindful that you just had surgery. Your tummy is still healing so you want to be gentle with it. Focus on following your Dr's orders from now on, and you should be fine.
  5. Hang in there. It does get better. Try a few variations, if you're allowed. Ask fruit, yogurt, cinnamon.....
  6. IDKY my eye was immediately drawn to your subject line. LOL! I've heard we should wait a year! Yup, that's what I heard. With that said, I'm 5 months post op band to sleeve revision & I've had a few since then. Not many, but at least 3 or 4 in total. What I can tell you, beside what you already know about the empty calories..etc.., is that you get tipsy MUCH quicker! it seriously only takes me less than 1/2 cup to feel the effects. I rarely drink, but when I do, woo hoo!!! LOL, be safe!
  7. I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe if we do outside activities, as time/weather/schedule permits, you can join us until then. I will continue to post about those on the FB page.
  8. May have found a meeting location @ The Westminster Library off of 112th Avenue. Only minor issue is that there is a cost of $15 per month for groups under 10. They do offer "Study Rooms" for groups of 6 or less, but I'm not sure we'd exactly qualify for that free room. I will, however, ask. Just need to know how many people would be interested. I'm looking at trying to do this the 2nd Wednesday of each month. In this case, Wednesday, June 11th around 6pm. Please let me know how many takers we have. Thanks!
  9. Since you have a gym membership, how about something like swimming exercises? They're easier on your body, and yet give you a lot of options & some good exercising. I also agree with chair exercises. My dad used to have a video for that & they were gentle on the body but kept you moving.
  10. Mishka - sent you the invite for FB. It's OK if you can't make the first one. I'll keep everyone posted as things progress. Just going to take several more phone calls, but we'll get something figured out, even if we have to keep meeting at E.B. Rains until we do Congrats on surgery! Irisheyes - My original surgeon was Dr Snyder for lapband, but my insurance changed to Kaiser & my revision was done through Dr Hussein. I liked him, lots of energy!
  11. While I'm working on finding a monthly meeting location, let's plan on getting together by the paddle boat rental place, near the main entrance at E.B. Rain's on Saturday, June 7th at 9am. I will post a reminder a few days before & I'll either have a silly sign or let everyone know what color shirt I have on so you know you're approaching the right person, LOL. Reminder: It's right across the street from the Northglenn Police Dept & Community Center: East side: West of 117th Ave. & Lincoln St.; West side: East of City Hall, 11701 Community Center Dr. in Northglenn. http://www.northglenn.org/ebrains
  12. The Church fell through as they decided since they are a new, but growing congregation, that they'd like to reserve their space for dedicated church related programs. With that said, I'm going to start hunting around, and calling places again. Worse case scenario, if people are up for it, so that we don't lose our momentum, we could always try to meet at a local community park. There's a place called EB Rains, right across the street from the Northglenn Police Dept & Community Center: East side: West of 117th Ave. & Lincoln St.; West side: East of City Hall, 11701 Community Center Dr. in Northglenn. http://www.northglenn.org/ebrains Let me know if anyone wants to try to meet up there just to get things moving. This is a big park area with a few sitting areas with a Gazebo, and a lovely lake we can always walk around once or twice. I'm just throwing this out there while I continue my search for a free meeting place. Thanks! Fran
  13. I had breast reduction done prior to WLS, I was a 42DD, but my surgeon told me he thought I was bigger than that. I was very fortunate in that my surgeon took pictures of my breasts (no face, of course) & provided medical reasoning to have the surgery. It included documenting shoulder indentation from bra straps, marks under breasts from bras, constant back pain, and the inability to work out comfortably due to their size. I was approved almost immediately. Ironically, as I lost about 110 pounds, my breasts are SMALL now! I am a 34 B (yes . I call them my boy boobs now. Oh, the irony Ask the insurance company for their policy on coverage, then try to appeal it within their allotted time frame. You never know. Good luck!
  14. COGirl - I tried to re-add you but it says you were already invited. Maybe it was a temp thing with FB? Try again later because I'm seeing a few posts from other people. If that still doesn't work, send me a friend request on FB (Fran Catalan Porter), and I'll accept & add you to the group that way. We can always unfriend each other on FB, for privacy if you'd like after that (your call). Let's trick the system Lastchancerenee - I added you too. Have my meeting with the church tomorrow so we'll see how it goes. I will try to make these meetings at 6pm so it allows people time to get out of work. Sbell35 - Welcome! Give me your email address & I'll send you an invite to the FB page. It's OK to be nervous. We all felt that way. But, you can do it & we'll be there to give you moral support! Hopefully, we'll be able to get a group started here in the next few weeks. Stay tuned!
  15. Added you ColoradoGirl80
  16. OK, if you're not already a friend of mine on FB, then you'll need to provide me with your email address so I can send you an invite to the FB Support page, Mission SlimPossible. I can't add you by looking up your name. The private group settings are exactly that, private. The settings say you can only invite someone you're currently not friends with, by email. Anyone can join this private group, but they have to be added or invited by a member. Who would have thought this would be so complicated. Yipes!
  17. I've always had a problem with constipation even prior to surgery. Now, some days are better than others. But, I do not go every day, only every 2 or 3 days. I'm jealous of those that can go more often, LOL. I add ground Organic flaxseed to my Chai tea in the mornings, and also have a Quest Protein bar. They have like 17 or 18 grams of fiber.
  18. Pls see the next updated post. I can't seem to DEL this one, only EDIT
  19. Pls see the next updated post. I can't seem to DEL this one, only EDIT
  20. Congrats on getting the surgery. I think it probably took me a good 6-8 weeks to have more energy, and I'm 48. I was definitely quite tired because I wasn't eating that much. Age may be a factor, but your activity level might be as well. You may also have a job where you're more sedentary, so again, not much activity. Try to walk around whenever possible, and drink those fluids. Are you sure you're getting all your Protein in, and not having too many calories? 1000 calories sounds like a lot 2 months out. I wanna say you should be closer to 650-800, tops, but we're all so different that you might require more. I think the best person to discuss this with would be your NUT. He/She should be able to help guide you better. Hang in there. It'll get better!
  21. Oh yes, that desire will definitely go away. You won't feel 'as hungry' as you used to pre-sleeve, and when you are, you're just not able to eat as much as you used to. Your tummy is much, much smaller & can't handle as much food. But, remember, this is still a tool to help you with your weight loss, so you do have to work at it. You'll need to stay focused, and pre-plan your meals. It does take some getting used to, but you can do it! Best of luck!
  22. Here's the link to MissionSlimpossible on Facebook. Hope this works Let me know if it doesn't.... thanks!!! https://www.facebook.com/groups/686063544773453/
  23. If anyone is interested, I just created a private support group called Mission Slimpossible on FaceBook. I made it private because not every one has told their friends about their WLS, myself included. The purpose is simply to provide support to pre & post op WLS people, similar to this website, but on FB. Why not just use this website? You could. It's just that some of us are a little more obsessed with FB than we should be (I'm blushing), and access it a lot more than this site (I'm still blushing). No other reason than that really. It's not just for those of us in Denver, so please feel free to share it with others. I hope to also share recipes, something I seem to be a bit crazed about these days. Hope to see you there!!!
  24. Not sure what kinds of Protein Snacks you might be eating, if any, but I heard of someone eating a small bag of sunflower seeds each day, and without realizing it, she was adding an additional 1000 calories to her daily intake. Keep track of your foods, if you're not already. You could be surprised at how something you thought was on the healthier side, is keeping you from losing more weight. Also, I would suggest talking to your NUT. He / she should be able to help you once they know exactly what you're eating.
  25. I'm no medical expert but it sounds like you were switched to solids pretty quickly. Were you ever on soft foods? I feel as though your tummy still needs a little more time to heal before taking on solids. Again, I'm not an expert. Maybe go back to soft foods for now; mashed potatoes, oatmeal with SF jelly preserves, Jello, Soups, until you speak to them & get better suggestions.
