  4. Hi there, My situation was slightly different than yours, and yet similar when it comes to the low BMI. I'm actually a band to sleeve revision patient. I had several issues with my sleeve but did manage to lose about 90 pds with it. Due to these complications, I had to have it removed. At that time, I weighed 155 pds standing at 5 2 1/2". Yes, I was almost at goal but was SO terrified over regaining the weight I had lost (245 at my starting weight) that I decided to go for the sleeve. Let me just say that it was the BEST decision I EVER made!!! I wish I had done this in the first place, but.. you can't live in regret. I haven't lost a ton of additional weight, but my average weight stays around 137 / 138. I'm thankful for the surgery & thankful it was successful. Sometimes I wish I could weight closer to 130 pds, but my gosh, I can't really complain. I went from a size 22, almost 24, to a now size 8. While we're all different, I believe you will be very happy & satisfied with your results! Best of luck! Fran

    Any Colorado sleevers?

    Hi there, Just as you would do for any other hike, just make sure to bring plenty of fluids with you. There isn't really anything additional that you need to do. Best of luck, Fran

    Yet another great meeting tonight as we welcomed new friends to our group! I truly enjoy how everyone helps & supports each another regardless of the surgery we've had. Tonight's meeting continues to prove while each of us has a slightly different experience with our surgery (what works for one person may or may not work for another), we share a common goal for a healthier lifestyle!

    Please join us at our next BP support meeting: Date: Monday, Dec 1st Starts: 6pm Location: Broomfield Public Library, 3 Community Park Rd, Broomfield, Colorado 80020 The holidays tend to be exciting, fun & yet stressful for many. We're running around & are often surrounded with "quick-fix" foods & amazing, rich recipes. How will you deal with the crazy schedule if/when you're running around shopping or visiting family/friends? What are your holiday plans? Look forward to seeing you there!
  9. Offended? No. But, it does make me feel uncomfortable. I understand I'm much thinner than what I used to be (245 to 135), but I am by NO means skinny!

    Please join us at our next BP support meeting: Date: Monday, Oct 6th Starts: 6pm Location: Broomfield Public Library, 3 Community Park Rd, Broomfield, Colorado 80020 A DIFFERENT KIND OF SHOW & TELL There are so many high Protein drinks / Snacks out there, but buying them without knowing what they taste like, can get costly. Someone came up with a great idea for our next meeting. Bring your favorite go-to Breakfast or lunch Protein Drink / snack to our next meeting. We will serve drinks in shot glasses & snacks cut up into bite size pieces in napkins, so everyone can taste them! Bring enough so that at least 10 people can try them. Remember, they will be cut up into small bite size pieces and/or poured into shot size cups so it doesn't have to be a huge amount Looking forward to another great meeting!!!

    Motivation = 0

    LOL, you guys what's classically known as "short-timers syndrome!" It's hard to stay focused at work when you know you have this big life changing event coming up, "and" you're going to have some R&R time at home. It's OK. Before you know it, you will be busy recovering & re-learning how to eat healthier. Youll be well on your way. Hang in there ladies. It will all work out

    Struggling going back to work today.

    I agree with the other posters here. You don't have control over the work load, so stay focused & do what you can do as best as you can. Do NOT let this miserable person have control over your emotions. This journey is already quite trying at times. Only YOU can control how you feel / react (90% is what happens to us. 10% is how we react). You can never be at fault as long as you do the best that you can & stay calm. Certainly not worth getting stressed / sick over. Focus on your personal health, and what you need to do to stay healthy. Go prepared with meals or drinks so they're available to you when you need them. Returning to work is a bit exhausting, but don't over do it & do what you can. Also focus on what sounds like an amazing goal, in being able to stop working soon. Do a mental count down if that helps. You can smile each time this miserable person says something to try to annoy you, knowing that you'll be out of there in X amount of time. Take care. It'll all work out in the end!!!

  18. No need to panic. Like the person ahead of me stated, poop comes from your intestines not stomach. But, since it's been a week, you don't want to strain yourself. For immediate help, you can try Milk Of Magnesia, or add a capful of Miralax in any drink. It dissolves & you can't taste or see it. You can use that on a daily basis or every other day & it won't hurt your system at all. Also, you can try using flax seed in your yogurt or Protein drink every day as well. Good luck!
  19. As many have said, thanks so much for sharing your honest story with us, and for others for adding to it. It's true, any WLS is just a tool, and it's up to us to nurture this tool. But, I can see how easy it would be to become complacent in our 'new skin' thinking that the hard work is done. In reality, it's never done. It's a work in progress. I hope I will always keep this in mind as time progresses & life throws it's challenges at me. Best of luck with your on-going journey. No doubt you will be successful
  20. I started with 1 Dr for my lap band surgery & had different insurance during difficult times which resulted in revision surgery through a different insurance. And now, I'm actually back to another insurance again. I haven't found that replacement surgeon, but am looking. Mind you, this is all within a 2 year time frame You didn't mention why you're changing, but I'm guessing it could be as a result of insurance. Contact your current insurance company & ask them if they cover bariatric, and what Dr's are in your area,

    Finding Your Bariatric Brain Again

    Great article though a bit scary to confirm we we already know ~ that our stomachs will expand to hold a slightly larger capacity, "but" that WLS was always a "tool." A tool that we alone have complete control over. Treat it well & it will treat us well in return. I'm thankful every day for my tool. I'm almost 8 months post revision to sleeve, and this thought scares me. I hope it's enough to always keep me focused!!!

    Hi N Denver peeps! Just a reminder that tomorrow is our next Bariatric Pal support meeting. Our topic will be "grocery shopping!" It will be held on August 11th at the Broomfield Library, 3 Community Park Rd, Broomfield, CO 80023. Eisenhower Conference Room ~ 2nd floor Starts at 6pm. Please let me know if you plan on attending so I can plan accordingly. Thanks ~ hope to see you there!
  23. I had the band & was revised to the sleeve with a pre-sleeve weight of 155 at the time of my revision. I was having trouble with the band, which was documented, as it had partially slipped. While I had a lower weight, Kaiser CO did approve me. Mind you, my band was done through a different insurance company all together, so I thought for sure I wouldn't get approved. I was thankful as all I had to pay was the deductible ($1500). I would consider another surgeon that might support you. If you continue to 'have issues" & it's documented, you may be able to get the revision.
  24. Hang in there & stay positive. It will help with your recovery! Sending best wishes your way!
