Strange. . I love Greek yogurt beans quinoa oatmeal ricotta cheese eggs and pretty much most of the stuff recommended by the nut
  2. I am 18 and just got sleeved the 28th. I am hoping doing this sooner rather than later will prevent me from getting any more disease/ joint damage than I already have. So far things have been great I hope this will finally be the solution to this lifelong struggle. I am also in college. Class of 2018 add me

    Anybody in college..?!

Probably just broth string cheese fat free ricotta cheese Greek yogurt ect. All the convenience things you can stick in your mini fridge.
  4. I personally enjoyed eas complete protein it tastes like a vanilla milkshake when mixed with soy milk. You can get it at Walmart or target. There is also syntrax powders. I haven't tried them yet but they're highly recommended by people here.

  7. Glad I'm not alone. I'm 4 days post op and have only lost a few pounds, I have only had liquids! I think once I start hitting those protein goals I'll see more of a loss

    Day 2 post op

I'm also two days post op. I'm so glad they removed my iv today I felt like I was chained up. Except for the one incision where the doc cut at the muscle I'm not in too much pain. It helps to sit up with a pillow against my incision. Lying on my back for too long hurts.
  9. I had my surgery on July 28th two days ago so I just thought I'd share my experience. I went to nuhealth, a big hospital in east meadow, N.Y. I got sleeved by Dr venkatesh. I arrived at 6am and got wheeled in at about 8am. I don't remember going into the or very well I just remembered my arms not fitting because it was a very small table so they wheeled up some platforms for me to put them on then I was out. When I woke up it hurt really bad, but I couldn't tell the nurse because I was still under a little. When I finally did she gave me some painkillers. I remember seeing my family I said a few words to them then fell asleep. It hurt more because I sleep on my side and sleeping on my back gave me pain so I couldn't sleep well. When night came around they took me from recovery and brought me to a room on the 11th floor. The first day and a half was miserable because I was thirsty and my throat was dry and they keep waking me up to walk every two hours even at like 3am. Also the anastesia made me feel nauceous so I kept dry heaving which hurt my incisions/stomach. The next day I did the barium swallow around 11am it was rough to stand so long because I felt nauseous but I met a gastric bypass patient who felt the exact same way as me so that made me feel better lol. I had dinner that day a few bites of jello, Italian ice, broth and tea. All of them had fake sugars in them which worries me but I guess its ok for a few months. After that night I was kind of rebellious and took off my heart rate monitor/ leg cuffs because they were annoying my soul. Today they took out my IV I'm feeling pretty good just sitting here waiting to get discharged. I had a high white blood count so they're checking to see if I still do. I'm having a little trouble with the two bites every 20 mins that my doc set for me. Mentally I just feel like I need to eat more I guess thats you call head hunger. I need to be strict with it tho I don't want any leaks. Ill probably get an app to help me with that. Thats basically my story.
  10. I want to but I just got sleeved two days ago. I probably won't be well enough by then
  11. Tomorrow I'm going to meet up with my best friend at the mall. I'm having surgery on monday and i don't know if i should tell her about it or not. She doesn't have any weight problems so she wouldn't understand the struggle, and I've never talked to her about my weight issues before. I mean I just don't know how she'll react. I don't feel right hiding it from her, she's my best friend. At the same time I don't know what she'd say. I think I will. I don't know. What kind of reactions have you guys gotten from your skinny friends about WLS?
  12. The thing about it is it can be a very stressful/miserable experience at times, you have to let them know that you're aware it won't be glamorous, let them know you're determined to push through. Good luck to you!

    My date is July 28

Mine is the 28th too! Can you believe we're just two days away?? It feels so surreal
  14. So I found out the nurse submitted me for gastric bypass instead of gastric sleeve. I'm considering just getting bypass instead of trying to resubmit everything. Its just been such a long time coming you know? I just want to get this surgery already. Its not like I hate bypass or anything, its better than sleeve results wise. Also my PCP's letter to my insurance was insufficient so she has to rewrite it tomorrow . I hate to be mean but these people have been acting so unprofessional.
  15. Thank you all for your support. After thinking about it for a while I remembered why I didn't want the bypass. For me it just didn't seem right, I just never felt comfortable with the idea of bypass. I called my doctor and the bariatric nurse a bunch of times today, did my pre admit and now I've been approved for surgery. I guess my insurance works fast lol. I will be having the sleeve this monday July 28th! I feel nervous yet excited.
  16. Its such an inspiration to me to know youve kept it off long term. Thank you also for creating this website. Ive received an incredible amount of support and information thanks to it.
  17. I know you guys are right. Ive just been feeling so frustrated lately
  18. Thanks, best of luck to you too & hang in there. I hear natural remedies like apple cider vinegar in your juice can help too
  19. I just got a call that my surgery date is scheduled for the 28th of july . The bad news is that my endoscopy showed that I have a high level of H pylori bacteria so I have to be on antibiotics for a week first. I was reading around and it seems that a lot of the time h pylori is very difficult to get rid of because its become antibiotic resistant. Often it takes months to years to kill off. I have never taken antibiotics in my life so i hope i will not be antibiotic resistant. Has anyone else ever had this experience before? Did the antibiotics kill off the bacteria? I am sick of all the delays in my surgery process -__-
  20. Thanks for the advice everyone. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who struggles with this. I think there will be a time when the junk food doesn't tempt me anymore, so ill just look forward to that
  21. I feel the same way! I was 276 during my initial consult. That was when I was working out 3 hours a day six days a week. Over the six months I gained about 20 pounds mostly in the winter. I've been trying really hard to lose the weight .... I am now 280 and I have until july 21st to be 260. i feel like ripping my hair out... but as far as the weigh in do as the other people told you. EAT NO SALT the days leading up to your weigh in, it'll cause you to retain Water. Drink a lot of water with lemon so you can detox but the day of the weigh in fast. dont eat/drink anything. Also pee first. Water can easily weigh 1 pound. I'm also gonna try my best here to lose these 20 pounds, so you stay strong. More than impressing our surgeons, I think we need to prove to ourselves that we're emotionally ready to have this surgery.
  22. i'm so happy for you. It must feel great to have your health back.
  23. I can tell they're strong. They make me so nauseous x....x. and I hope thats the case
  24. This was my first time under anesthesia i really didnt think it would actually work on me for some reason, but boy was i wrong. x...x what was your endoscopy like?
