Unflavored Protein - Is Unjury The Only One?
No problem. The ready made juice flavored drinks they sell aren't bad either. Those work to break up the protein flavors. The Vitamin Shoppe near me also gives out samples if you aren't sure and they happen to have some. In McKinney there is a good shop too, it's a local one. Health Collection I think. I'll find out the name for sure and let you know.

Unflavored Protein - Is Unjury The Only One?
Unjury isn't at those places. But they do have other unflavored protein in larger containers. I use Vitamin Shoppe and get the IsoPure Unflavored protein. I also like the Vitamin Shoppe Brand of chocolate protein they have. This is the only place I can find protein wafer bars too which I use like a candy bar treat once in a blue moon.

4'11" - Checking In.....
Hi Diane. I'm Desiree and I am in North Texas too. I'm on the line for Plano and The Colony, but grew up in Blue Ridge (you may know where that is). I'll keep my fingers crossed that your approval comes through. I'm 20 months out and it was the best thing I ever did. I know we will all be here to support you and wish you the best on your journey.

Pre-Op Support
I went to mine for about 6 months. They had meetings every 2 weeks and they were good, but the group was very large and one week was spent on a speaker. I was too shy to really meet anyone and eventually school and work took over so much I couldn't attend. I miss the meetings, but I wish I had more people I bonded with. For now you can get support from all of us

Dfw Support Group
I'm glad to find a group of people from the area that get together. I was attending the meetings at Plano Presby they had twice a month, but it wasn't what I thought of when I thought support group. I learned a lot from the speakers, but I want to ask questions and find out how others with the sleeve are doing. I'd love to come to some of the get together meetings. I live in the Colony on the Plano border and can travel anywhere. My email is desi1023@gmail.com, please add me to your list --Desiree

Fet Cycle - I'm Already Gaining Weight!
This gives me some great hope. I'm about to start clomid and work my way up to IVF. We haven't tried any type of fertility treatment before and considering we haven't done anything in the 8 years we've been married to prevent a pregnancy I'm a little worried that it won't work. Congratulations on your pregnancy and I hope everything goes greatly for you.

Wls To Cure Infertility?
That sounds similar to PCOS symptoms. Most women go un-diagnosed and it can be a big problem. I didn't have surgery for that reason, I had it because it was lose weight or replace my knee. But it did help with that. I'm 20 months out and starting fertility treatments as soon as hubby gets tested. My dr tried taking me off BC and giving it the good ol fashioned try, but it didn't work. So now I'm onto clomid. In my case it didn't cure the problem, but I have more hope and feel tons better.

Will This Work?
PCOS raggedyann is Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome. It makes the battle of the bulge near impossible to win for some. It is named from the hundreds of mini cysts that develop on your ovaries, but messes with your hormone balances and can mess with your thyroid in some cases. As for the BC, I was on a progesterone only med (not BC) prior to surgery to help regulate me and protect me. One thing that PCOS can cause is endometrial (sp?) cancer. After my surgery because I couldn't get preggers no matter what for 18 months, my dr put me on BC. I didn't gain any weight from that at all but it was progesterone based. I lost 96 pounds so far and I've been stable for the last 6 months but I'm 20 months out and apparently I'll start dropping again. My gyno was pleased that I chose to have the surgery and says that I shouldn't have any problems when I am pregnant and is looking into a good chew-able prenatal for me.

The Struggles With Pcos
I'm at 20 months out and starting fertility treatments. My Dr said that it won't exactly go away, but it will get better. It did get a lot better, but the last few months I've missed my cycle and he said it's normal and that everything is fine. As far as I know there isn't a cure for PCOS, but the problems can become better. I don't know how much that helps.

5'-2" Here
I started at 342. I don't really have an end weight, I just want to be healthy and happy. But I'm past 18 months and my dr says I'm a go to start trying for kiddos.

5'-2" Here
That is so awesome. I'm stopped at 96 pounds. And I'm still going. I know it won't all melt away instantly. I didn't put it all on overnight and it won't all go away overnight.

Pre-Op Support
Did you find some support groups? I know it is a little late to give you one for pre-op.

5'-2" Here
I didn't realize when you posted that and was going to write out this long thing. It's been a couple months, how are things going?

A Wee Little Hello
I love the info about the group and the line about pulling up the step stools. I personally have 3 in random areas of my house. I'm somewhere between 5'1" and 5'3" (depends on who you ask) I actually shrunk an inch when I lost my weight, I also lost 2 shoe sizes. I'm glad to have joined this group and look forward to sharing with all of you

Any Dallas Area Sleevers?
Hi to all my fellow Texans! I hope no one is melting in this horrible heat. Found lots of post for all different areas of Texas but nothing for the North Texas people. Any out there?

Hiccups!
They are the worst hiccups ever! I remember how bad it hurt right after I had surgery. I still get them today and it's been quite a while since I was sleeved. My husband still laughs and makes fun of me and I still wish they'd go away lol. O and all of the tricks for stopping them when the really get going, yeah those don't work.

Ready To Give Up...
Little jealous. I was on liquids for 6 weeks, then soft for another 4. I know everyone is saying that the feeling is normal, but I never felt that way. I only got six about 3 months out when I tried bread for the first time. *knock on wood* I haven't been sick again since that one time. I did have problems with how active I was compared to my calories and would almost pass out. I still forget to eat sometimes and start getting the shakes which means get protein and get it now for me. I would still call your doctor and makes sure nothing major is wrong. Good luck.

Unjury- Soup?!?!
I couldn't do it either. That smell killed me and I tried both the chicken soup and the broth. I did better taking the unflavored powder and adding it to swansons chicken broth. Using the unflavored protein in anything and everything you can think of will help. I got tired of sweet protein shakes so I started making veggie shakes and tossing that in there. After my surgery I lived on protein shakes, jello, and these soups from Whole Foods (blended to liquid) because I didn't figure out the broth trick until about 5 weeks post surgery. You'll get creative with what you can do and you can always get ideas from here

Any Sleevers With Pcos?
I'm 20 months out with PCOS and for a while things were great but now I'm back to missing cycles. I start fertility treatments soon. Still have problems with hair, but my dr told me that there was a medication I could take if I wanted to. All other issues I had with PCOS are gone though which is awesome.

Oh Texas Heat How I Loathe Thee...
Your hill reminds me of Hell Hill that people around here think is fun. They actually do monthly runs of the hill for the whole community. I'm in North Texas and that heat kills. 9 pm last night and it was still 98 outside. It isn't much cooler early in the morning. When it's hot like this I toss on my swim suit or some shorts and a shirt and go walk in the pool. They are all about 4 ft deep and always cold. The other thing I do is this dance game my nieces bought me for the Wii, they have a dance til you sweat thing. I don't know what good it does, but it's fun . I know that once mid-Sept hits I can go back to walking and not feel like I'm going to melt.

Carbonated Beverage 10 Weeks Out
If it helps ibehere, I drink a cup of coffee a day and one cup of tea. Anything else is all water. I wasn't warned against caffeine, but then again I'm learning all kinds of new things I wasn't told every day.

Anyone Else Afraid Of Rice?
Thanks you guys. I'm not going to make it a staple in my diet, I just don't want to be paranoid if I happen to have a little or it's on my plate or anything like that. I've seriously been scared to let it even touch my plate for the last 20 months. The times when we've eaten somewhere that has rice I send my plate back if it's on there.

Aspartame And Joint Pain
That is very interesting and I wonder if it adds to my knee issues. What did you look for when you found those articles? I have no problem cutting it out because I don't like the after taste. I'll let you know if I have any relief when I do.

Carbonated Beverage 10 Weeks Out
I waited close to a year before trying carbonation and it was painful. I wasn't told never again, but it's not something I like to do. At most I'll take a sip of my husbands once it's all watered down. I drink tea or bottled water with flavor stuff in it. Same thing for straws too is the air. I was warned against chewing gum though which I found funny. It'll be different from everyone, just because a dr says not to doesn't mean people will listen. I'm not sure what the risk is with you be so early post-op.
