I just booked my flight today. I'm SOOOOOO nervous.

And frustrated. I have been eating right, apple a day, drinking plenty of Water. I just gained back all my weight again. I just want to ball my eyes out. What if this surgery doesn't work for me because of my PCOS???

What is PCOS????? don't be upset I had the lap band put in 2-18-2008 erosioned 11-4-2009 taken out then I saw the scale climbing so I went back to the surgeon Dr.J.Myer at Rush or One Day I asked for a new Band he said no so I got the sleeve so in 2008 I weighed 278 I am 4 11 I looked like I was going to explode as I look on the pictures of myself at that time at the time the band was taken out 199 so nothing for 18 months shot up to 240 had the sleeve done 12-12-11 today I weigh 197. I am 62 years old and can't work out because of my heart and I have a heel problem that I am having ablations to kill nerves the pain stops me from walking as much I want to, but I must be doing something right the weight is coming off slowly but I think my age has a lot to do with that but weighing in at 197 I weighed that when I was 28 Yikkkes!! that was a long time ago. The sleeve is a tool it will help you but it will be up to you what you put in your mouth...... I cheat sometimes not just every day Sat: is my grdson's birthday I will take a piece of cake I remove most of the frosting to treat on special days is ok....I like my scale now at one time I dreaded getting on the dam thing and today I say a quick prayer to God to help me accept the number I see and if it is good ok if its bad ask myself ok what junk have I had....YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! are in charge how you are going to use this tool.....

Be good to your self set small goal don't look at the bigger picture cause that will overwhelm you when I reached 75lb weight loss I bought myself a journey neckless pendent yes this a journey for the rest of your life. My husband and I have been married almost 43 years I have been wanting a new bridal set of rings so when I lose 100!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a miracle that God and the Blessed Mother have given me we are going to buy some serious BLING!! lol I told the Dr that at my last visit he laughed and said take it off during weigh in its going to be heavy.... take 10 lbs at a time it worked for me at every 10 lbs I treated myself to a tube of lipstick whatever but NOT some thing to eat.

Gee I better get off my soap box.....as they say in 12 step meetings read this take what you want and leave the rest, we as humans don't always agree.

I have PCOS and i have lost 25 lbs already since the two weeks before and then after my surgery on the 17th. 10 before on the protein shakes and the rest after. I started at 305 and now am 280. I actually believe that loosing weight is good for the PCOS. Actually I had to stop the birth control before due to blood clots so i got my period then and then it came after surgery too and that is pretty normal...

If you are taking birth control to regulate your periods, try talking to your gynecologist to see what you can do. I have stopped taking my birth control since 2 years ago after being diagnosed with PCOS at age 17. That was 10 years ago now and I was on birth control for 8 years non stop. I have since been getting regular periods but the thing is that I am at my biggest weight ever, or was.

I started a diet back in March of this year and lost 20 pounds. It was slow but I lost it and I was not entirely eating THAT great but it was 10x better than what I usually eat like. Let me also point out that this was pre-op. I still am pre-op.

I know that PCOS has troubles in itself with making our weight be weird, but I think birth control really contributes to some of that, too. It's just my opinion.

If you aren't taking birth control then I don't think you should have too much trouble. You are only going to be able to eat a few ounces of food at a time. There really is not much room to gain weight for quite a while with the sleeve from what I can tell. There are very few cases where people don't see much weight loss that I've read on the forums, VERY few, and it doesn't seem that they are particular to having PCOS, either.

PCOS raggedyann is Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome. It makes the battle of the bulge near impossible to win for some. It is named from the hundreds of mini cysts that develop on your ovaries, but messes with your hormone balances and can mess with your thyroid in some cases.

As for the BC, I was on a progesterone only med (not BC) prior to surgery to help regulate me and protect me. One thing that PCOS can cause is endometrial (sp?) cancer. After my surgery because I couldn't get preggers no matter what for 18 months, my dr put me on BC. I didn't gain any weight from that at all but it was progesterone based. I lost 96 pounds so far and I've been stable for the last 6 months but I'm 20 months out and apparently I'll start dropping again. My gyno was pleased that I chose to have the surgery and says that I shouldn't have any problems when I am pregnant and is looking into a good chew-able prenatal for me.

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 20, now 35. I have every symptom there is including anovulation, infertility, depression, obesity, facial hair, high blood pressure, etc. I have been on metformin for years and tae provera to induce periods. I took injectable meds and have been blessed with my twins. I had a failed lap band surgery 5 years ago cause it slipped. I have gained more weight since then and am waitlisted for WLS, not sure if I will have the sleeve or gastric bypass. I know I don't want to become diabetic (on both sides of my family) and I have never been able to loose and keep off weight.

I would suggest the sleeve. With the bypass they reroute you stomach which is not natural and can have more problems afterwards. That's just my 2 cents

I was diagnosed with pcos a little over a year ago after noticing significant weight gain over the course of 4 months. Im nearly 300lbs today and im considering the sleeve as well. Ive heard lots of success with the sleeve and pcos. June 1st my insurance will be siruated and on the 3rd I will officially I have my first appointment. =)
