  4. Not sure if they're affiliated, but I think most companies coordinating for Dr Garcia are charging $4500-4700. They've been running a special at ready4achange and alighterme that was extended...but hey, if you can save another $200, that's awesome!

    Almost A Week Post Op

I've heard that constipation is an issue...people take Miramax and fiber supplements (there's gummies, and good ol' Metamucil)to help relieve constipation. I've read a couple threads on the subject--try typing constipation into the search bar. I found some funny and informative stuff...constipation SUCKS, and I am NOT looking forward to that...sounds like you're doing well! What is the gnawing pain you speak of? Keep us posted. :-)
  7. Sorry mango926, you're on there now...i gotta give a shout out (what, what) to Susan2.0 from the original October Sleevers group, cuz I followed her lead on the list thing, and Muffintop, who's idea this was in the first place. Thanks, peeps.

  9. Thanks muffintop...i AM awesome, but I did get the idea from you.....so I think that makes you even "awesomer"!!! I figured id open it up to all the Mexico Octosleevers, cuz otherwise it'd just be a couple of us with Dr Garcia. Im sure there'll be others scheduled that aren't on this site yet, but at least we can connect with the peeps that are! I am totally having a few freakouts, but I know this is the right thing for me. Muffintop: one month to go for you! Counting the days :-)

    October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

Whaddup, fellow Octosleevers! Just wanted to let the Mexico peeps know that I started a new thread called MEXICO OCTOSLEEVERS! I'd like to compile a list of sleevers going to Mexico to have their surgeries. It is so great to be in contact with others in the same sitch, and I heard from other MEXICO people that they wanted to know who, if anyone, they'd be in the hospital or hotel with. Its in the SELF PAY/Mexico section, and I just started it, so add your name if you're going to Mexico! Good luck to everyone. I cannot believe October is right around the corner...good vibes to all
  11. Thanks so much, made2beme. I've been reading your posts for a while now, and I gotta say, your experience was one of the ones that solidified my decision to go with Dr Garcia and ready4achange. I completely agree with the points you've made and I cannot wait to add my own experience. Again, thanks for keeping us posted. Its great to know you're doing well and that you continue to be an advocate for Dr. Garcia and his team. :-)

    Thank You! Thank You

Btw, I just tried a sample of the Syntrax nectar cappucino flavor....OMG! Mixed it in with my iced coffee, and it was divine. It has sweetener and a creamy taste, so I needed nothing except the coffee and the powder. Soooooo good! Im definitely ordering a tub of that one...i thought my coffee days were over. Thank god! Plus its got the protein. STOKED!!

    October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

It sure is getting real, peeps...im so glad we've got this big group of sleevers here. It really comforts me to know there are so many others doing, thinking, feeling, analyzing, the exact same crap as me!!! This site has been so helpful and informative during my process, and it'll be even more valuable as time moves forward... Good luck to all the OctoSleevers. Cheers (with a low carb protein drink, of course) to our new lives/journeys/experiences and victories, big and small.

    Thank You! Thank You

omg, there are sooo many things/products that you can get online to get all your protein in...and cheaper than isopure, if cost is an issue. I just bought a bunch of stuff from bariatricchoice.com. They have a shitload of stuff: I got these diet fruit drinks that have 15grams of protein...i gut some cappuccinos that have 14grams...there's also Syntrax Nectar which mixes really well and comes in 14 flavors. Im planning to do blended shakes and got some unflavored to mix with fruit, etc...theres also a few places that'll send a bag of samples to try. Go online and punch in "bariatric foods" or "bariatric protein powder "...ive been oedering sample packs and asking all the companies to send me samples to try. Thus stuff is expensive, and I didn't want to waste money on tubs of stuff I won't use....have fun trying stuff out!

    Not What I Expected

Omg, I am so sorry to hear about your terrifying experience. I'm hoping you are on the mend...When did you know something was wrong? (Im also a healthcare professional, and sxd for surgery in MX...different surgeon.) Leaks are rare, but they do happen, and I want to know what the warning signs are, if any? Do you know if there's any way this could've been prevented, or is it just (like u said before) bad luck? From a clinical standpoint, I've been researching leaks, causes, effects, treatment, etc... I dont pray, but I am sending positive vibes in your direction. I hope your recovery is swift, and FULL! Hoping you can rock that sleeve with no further complications, and I wish you health and happiness
  16. No prob, angeleyes...im sxd Oct 27. Ill post as soon as im able to get to my phone... There have several people who've had surgery w/ Dr Garcia recently. I haven't heard one bad experience with the doc or the hospital. I was a little nervous about the language barrier as one poster mentioned, but I spoke to Alma, and she said there's always an English speaking nurse on the floor, and there are cards/posters with pertinent english/spanish translations in each room. Im not concerned about going to MX. They'll treat us very well, considering they get most of their referrals from word of mouth. I chose MX specifically because they do this type of surgery WAAAY more than any US docs. In fact, I've been researching and scouring the boards for months, and it seems complications are more common with surgeries stateside. It makes sense, when you think of how few surgeries our docs do...the cost here is prohibitive for most patients, and insurance makes us jump thru too many hoops. That will change as more of us request it, but for now, I think MX is the best place fur those of us with crappy or no insurance. Im a healthcare professional, and MX is very popular with nurses and docs from the US. As a matter if fact, Dr Garcia did surgeries in August on a doc and several nurses from here. I am STOKED! Counting the days!! I will totally keep you posted. Good luck :-)
  17. I've heard great things about both places....the only negative (not really negative, but..) thinging I heard was regarding the car service ....i guess one lady said the company van was being fixed, so it was kind of a junker. I've heard really nice things about the drivers. Im sxd with Dr Garcia in Oct, thru Alma at ready4achange. I've been totally impressed so far. There are several people who have posted their experience with Dr Garcia...search the forum. Great price, great experiences, and he's been offering a deal which means he's been doing a bunch of surgeries! I want a surgeon who's been practicing! I will post my experience when im in TJ,if anyone is interested. Good luck to everyone :-)

    October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

    Doesn't surprise me, Susan...have a great time
  19. its really important that you get in all your protein and vitamins. Biotin will help slow any loss, and I've heard of many people who are militant about their protein, biotin and other vits, who haven't lost any hair at all.... I've already been taking my multi gummies, and a tiny biotin softgel...easy!

    Justa Rant

Tell those hens to go suck an egg! Seriously, that's ridiculous! Are you friends with any of them? I plan to keep my surgery private except to family and close friends, and everyone else can marvel at my kickass willpower! Your kids are strong, id tell them mommy is getting healthy and losing weight to be able to do more with and for them! Those women can talk all they want (while they plug away endlessly on their ellipticals... :-D )
  21. You totally rock, sleevealicious...what a strong person you are! I know its the toughest thing you've been through (I can't imagine) but omg, you are THE woman! Get in that protein, girl...your body needs it a lot right now...i got some samples of Syntrax nectar that wasn't half bad, and I ordered some packets of a diet fruity protein drink that got good reviews, from bariatric choice (wonderslim I think?). They've got broths and other stuff too...check it out online, in case you can't stomach the isopure. Good luck :-) Your sleeve is gonna be the sleeve of steel soon, so just relax, heal, think positive, and you'll be rocking that sleeve with a new bod in no time

    October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

Wow! I am totally blown away at how many of us are scheduled for October! There had been so much great stuff in the news lately regarding WLS and clearly, people are listening! I'd like to know who else is going to Mexico for surgery in October, besides me (Sxd Oct 27, Dr Garcia, TJ, Mexico)? Good luck to all the Octosleevers! Lets rock this sh*t!!! :-)

    October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

Im sure there are people that do get a little sick from getting their flu shot, but its rare, and usually you just feel a little headachy, weak, and sore in the injection site. I gave my friends their first flu shots last year and they had no problems at all. Chances are, you'll be fine without it, but there is a small chance someone will be contagious at wherever it is you'll be having your surgery. If I were in your shoes, I would get it. A couple of my coworkers also got theirs a couple weeks ago and one mentioned she felt a little knot where the injection was...that was it.
