  1. You can DO THIS!!! I didn't go to Mexico but of course I had some anxiety about having surgery but I can honestly say I have no regrets and did not find the recovery very painful at all. I was a bit tired for about 2 weeks but my energy improved daily. I have NO regrets at all about my surgery. I truly believe it was a wise decision for me.
  2. Sorry, I'm not much help. I was discharged on full liquids. But, I am having trouble getting all the protein as well. It does take 2 weeks before you will even remotely get close to 60 grams of protein for the day. I didn't really have much pain post-op.
  3. I had my surgery on a Tuesday. On Thursday after my iv was out, I I washed my hair. Did the same on Fri before I went home. I did use my ipod and did some texting on my cell phone. Didn't really read or anything though. They gave me a little sponge on a sucker stick to wet in a glass of water and moisten my mouth.
  4. My program advised taking 4 weeks off and I am taking 4 weeks off. I have the sick time and didn't need to take any long term sick leave or anything. I do know I am lucky that I have a municipal gov't job and am able to do this. One of the residents at the hospital told me I could return to work after 2 weeks if I felt good. I said no, think I will take the 4 that was recommended!
  5. ooohh, not sure. I know I take my capsule the same as I did before. Sorry, I am not much help.
  6. just do short walks as many times as you can.
  7. I have no idea what size mine will be. Bougie has never been mentioned. Surgery is Tuesday!!!!
  8. I'd have to say you are going to get sleeve votes here! lol
  9. I will be able to have SF popsicles post-op, just not pre-op. No idea why!
  10. Thanks for the ideas! I was actually told no to the popsicles and the Jello (I hate jello anyway!). I'm not a tea drinker anyway.
  11. My clear liquid stage is the day before surgery and the day after surgery. Once I am released from hospital, I can have any liquid. Liquid only for 4 weeks. Then to modified, pureed food for 4 weeks.
  12. Hi Everyone, Ok, for clear fluids we have Water, apple juice and chicken broth. Tea? I am stumped for other ideas. Anyone use anything else for clear fluids? Oh, just looked at my G2 and it is clear. What do you drink for clear fluids?
  13. I know this doesn't help but I would be dancing in the streets if I weighed close to 200lbs! lol
  14. Hi NewME, I am in Nova Scotia, Canada and I am having VSG on Feb 23rd as well!! We will have to stay in touch pre and post op so we can compare notes!
  15. Nice that I have soo much support on here.
  16. Whew, thats a hard one. I did stop drinking soda. I just made the decision one day and did it. I dont' know how! lol I guess maybe just getting close to my surgery date is motivating me. Sorry I'm no help.
  17. I am 3 weeks out from surgery and following a low carb, high protein diet for one week. I haven't cheated yet and I dont plan to, reading this helped me realize that cheating is not an option!
  18. Last Monday, the 25th of January, I got the call that my surgeon consult would be Friday the 29th. I started the diet that the dietician had given me right away. It was hard to follow when you had no idea when you might see the surgeon. Anyway, the surgeon was not very happy with me as I had gained from Oct to Jan. :scared0: They won't do the surgery in this program if you have a BMI over 60. Anyway, I am on the diet and am scheduled for surgery on February 23. Whew, I am excited and nervous but I am happy to have a date and get this process going! :confused1: I have lost 10 lbs (by my scales) now and will stay on this diet for 2 more weeks then I go to liquid only. There is NO way the surgeon is turning me away on Feb 23!
