I've finally got my surgery date of January 30th! I will do a 2-week pre-op diet of 3 protein shakes daily. I plan to take about a week off work but have yet to tell my boss... I'm struggling with whether to tell him it's Lap-Band surgery or just tell him it's surgery of a "personal nature." (Any thoughts here?) Social eating is a big thing for me, and the idea of not having three-course meals when out with my friends is taking some getting used to. But that's one of the bad habits that's gotten me in trouble. I am so ready for this. My boyfriend, close friends and family are awesome supporters. I attended my family's big holiday party Saturday night and kept dreaming about what I'll look and feel like at that party a year from now!

January 30th Is The Day
This Girl Is Losing It replied to This Girl Is Losing It's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just a quick update from me. I decided not to tell my boss what surgery I was having; he just knows it's surgery. He didn't ask questions. He probably thinks it's my "lady parts" and doesn't want to know! Fine with me! Anyway, I am down to 2 days of "real food" before I start the pre-op diet (3 daily Protein shakes only) on Wednesday. I am trying not to eat all manner of crap, but at the same time, I'm like, OK, what I eat before Wednesday is the last things I'll get to CHEW for 6 to 8 weeks! About a week ago, I eliminated snacking between meals, hoping that would help. But I really should've started cutting down my portions too, to prepare for the adjustment. I have 2 days now to do that - smaller meals. I have a friend coming to town for the weekend on Friday. Hoping I'm not "hangry" - so hungry I'm angry... I'll have to send my boyfriend out to eat with my friend. I don't think I can sit in a restaurant and have only Water. BF and I also grocery-shopped for things he can cook himself for the next couple of weeks. I told him I'm not going to be in the kitchen preparing his meals every night while I can't eat. I guess I will have to smell the yummy food smells - not much I can do about that. He has been awesomely supportive. That's all from my neck of the woods. Hope you're all doing well! - Care to reply with your own updates? Becky -

Surgery Down Time
This Girl Is Losing It replied to fashionstylist's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm having my surgery on a Wednesday (Jan 30) and doc said I could be back to work the following Monday. I work from home and at a desk job, but I'm wondering if 4 days really sounds like enough time... -

New To The Boards, Not Yet Banded
This Girl Is Losing It posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi! I'm Becky. I've been reading the boards here for a couple of months but finally decided to dive in. I am 4 months into the process since I decided to get Lap-Band surgery, and making my way through all the pre-op doctors' clearances - cardiologist, pulmonologist, gallbladder, etc. I am expecting to be banded in the fall - October or November. I'd ultimately like to lose about 150 lbs. If I make it, I won't quite be "thin," but I'll be at a weight I was comfortable at for several years and which seemed natural for me. I've read a lot of discussion here that has gone both ways - people who've had great success and those who have struggled and not met their objectives. Lately I've seen posts saying Lap-Band is NOT the way to go if you want to lose more than 100 lbs, and this has me a little concerned, but not close to changing my mind. I know it will be a struggle to change my way of thinking and eating - to nourish my physical body, not my feelings - and that the band will just be a tool, not the magic bullet (there's no such thing). But I have faith that the band will be the help I need to start over and live a healthier, longer, more adventurous life. I look forward to joining you all on your journeys and wish you much success and fulfillment along the way!
