Omg Down 140Lbs In 13 Months!

Oh, Allison, bless you! So happy for you! Brings tears to my eyes, I want that so bad!! Thanks for sharing your experience. Blue
  3. A bad head cold, and only 10 days until surgery! Grrr.

  4. Goshers, I'm pre-op and burp all the time! I have a nervous habit of swallowing too much air. I can't imagine what it will be like post-op. I better learn how to burp my sentences!
  5. Does anyone else have this? I have trouble swallowing first thing in the morning. I'm on the pre-op diet (two shakes and a Lean Cuisine) and eating the whole Lean Cuisine makes me feel sick. I have head hunger, but surprisingly little stomach hunger. If I eat too fast or take large bites, my stomach hurts and I get incredibly nauseous. I had such bad gas last night, I felt like I would explode! LOL. Never had it that bad before. Needed to sort of -- arrange myself -- if you know what I mean to allow the air to escape. I'm sure it's all a big mind-freak -- I'm feeling "sympatico" to my own future self, but it's super weird... Any other weirdos out there experiencing the same thing? Blue
  6. Hey all -- Since I started the pre-op diet, my free-floating anxiety and panic attacks seem to have resurfaced after laying dormant for about eight months. I am not on any medication and don't want to get back on something so close to surgery. Anyone else have panic as a result of the pre-op diet? I'm okay with the shakes -- it seems to be once I eat my daily Lean Cuisine at night that I get really nauseous, nervous, startle reflex, sweats, etc.... I HATE IT!!! Grrrrr. Blue

New And Looking At Lap Band

I've heard so many people on this forum say that if you're banded in Mexico, no one in the States will touch you. I question this....the two doctors I've asked on Long Island have said they would ABSOLUTELY fill someone if the band was an FDA-approved band, like the Allergan or the newer Johnson & Johnson model. It definitely pays to find out if a local doctor will fill you if you have your surgery in Tijuana or Monterrey, but it doesn't seem all that hard to find a willing doctor. Having said that, no matter who you use, do that background research! There are plenty of bad doctors, or good doctors, no matter where you go. I've chosen, I think, a very good and esteemed surgeon in MX (of course, ask me how I feel AFTER the surgery!) Good luck to you. Blue
  8. Well, I'm not HAPPY for you, but glad I'm not alone! :-)
  9. Wow, I'm just FULL of questions (and topics) today! LOL Since I have a sensitivity to sucralose, which is only in EVERYTHING now, with my Dr.'s permission I'm having organic coconut Water, RAW Protein powder, and another mostly organic Meal Replacement shake. I will REALLY have to amend the post-op diet, since it's almost all sf this or that, and when there's no sugar it's full of sucralose and aspartame, which also makes me sick. Anyone do this organically, or mostly natural? Blue

Pre-Op Diet And I'm So Hungry!

Oh, honey, right there with ya! Just remember, you're in it for the long haul. You will eat those foods again (albeit in much smaller quantities) but you will be doing it sanely and moderately, and not affecting your health adversely. Hopefully you're doing better this week! <3 Blue
  11. That's what I figure it is -- me thinking so much about the surgery, and reading so much about it, I've developed the symptoms!
  12. Could just be a tummy bug or something.....unless a surgeon snuck into the house and banded me up while I was sleeping!
  13. Wah! I've been following my surgeon's suggested pre-op diet (2 Protein shakes and a Lean Cuisine a day) and I am hungry! They also suggest taking a Metamucil capsule twice a day to stave off hunger pangs -- anyone done this? Doesn't it make you -- well -- poop a lot? Just wanted to whine for a minute. I'm done now. Had Surgery Alone In Mexico?

That's amazing FernandinaGin! Good for you!!!
  17. Congratulations on your surgery, MyBella! I'm looking forward to being on the other side of it myself!
  18. Well, this has been great! Thanks everyone for your encouragement, ideas, or even just sharing your own frustration.....Two weeks until surgery, and now it's time to get serious! My sister got married this weekend, so I ate a couple of things that weren't on the plan. However, I had started the pre-op diet ahead of time. Now, no more room for error! I'm having two Protein shakes a day and a Lean Cuisine meal, per doctor's orders. They also recommend a whole bunch of low-cal drinks (Diet Snapple, Crystal Light, etc.) that I can't have due to a sucralose sensitivity. Here we go (for realz now)!!! Blue
  19. I caved and had a Nutri-Grain bar yesterday, but I still have more than two weeks to the surgery, I won't have any "accidents" after Sunday, I swear! My sister is getting married on Friday, so I have two days of travel now.....wish me luck! We will all get through this together. Hi Binab! Lap band sisters, yeah!!! Blue
  20. Hi all: I live in NY State, I'm 5'1", and weigh just under 200 pounds. I've battled weight my whole life, and in the last couple of years -- surprise, surprise -- I just can't lose, but I can gain at the drop of a hat. I am looking into Lap Band surgery that I can afford, since I have no insurance and am not eligible for Care Credit because of a bankruptcy a couple of years ago. Looking for a good package deal. Found the Tijuana doctors first, but I still have all those fears about going to Mexico for surgery. I'm sure there have been 1000s of great experiences, but of course, the press has always focused on the failures. I also found Dr. Weaver in Denver, who offers a package for under $9K, which is about the most I can afford. Still looking to see if there are other states before I bite the bullet and head South of the Border. Hope to hear back from you! Blue Heron
  21. My surgery is also 8/27. Lap band sisters!!!!
  22. I think the different pre-op diet choices are based on starting weight and how long ahead of time you have booked the surgery. My doctor offers the 3 shakes a day, the 2 shakes and one Lean Cuisine (which I am on), and Atkins for his patients. Stay hungry, my friends! Blue

    Vitamins

My surgeon actually created a brand of pre- and post-op Vitamins for his patients. But if you go to Amazon or Google, and type in "bariatric vitamins," you'll find a whole bunch.....I ALSO thought you weren't supposed to take vitamins before surgery (thins the blood). I know when I had my colonoscopies they didn't want you to be taking vitamins a few days before surgery, but I guess this is different. Anyway, good luck, Wendy! Blue

    Today Is The Day

Wow, CB...let us know how it goes....we're rooting for you! Blue
  25. Hi there: I have always been scared of vomiting, and haven't thrown up in about 20 years. Obviously, I understand there is a real possibility of throwing up after I have the surgery. I also understand that if I follow suggestions and directions from my surgeon, it is less likely to happen. I guess I just wanted a little pat on the back. And any stories that will make me feel better (like, "Oh, it's not so bad....!") Hoping to hear from you, Blue
