  1. I am I weighed in at a 37 but am now a 35...I am currently concerned about getting approved. Anyone have any advice? My insurance requires 2 preexisting conditions I have high cholesterol documented by my doctor but its not high enough for medicine.
  2. I am pre-op so I can only imagine your struggle! Keep moving forward and I look forwards to hearing what sleeve vets have for you in advice!....with that said 85 pounds is a lot of weight! Congrats and focus on that, I am sure if you just keep doing what you are doing the rest WILL come off too!
  3. I wonder how much body image is an issue for others. I feel that my view of my body has, in the past, been completely skewed and just flat out wrong. Anyone else struggle with this? If so, how and when did you see yourself un-clearly and when did it become apparent that this had happened? (Maybe seeing a picture of a time when you felt huge but looked ok or vice versa.) I know that this is an issue with others that have weight problems like anorexia and bulimia but maybe this a problem for all of us to some extent!
  4. I am 29 so soon I can't check the 20 somethings box! However, for now I can! I am, God willing, getting sleeved in September. I don't have a pre-op diet but maybe can help! Good luck, I wish I had done this years ago!
  5. Awe that is so tough! Thanks for your support and encouragement! Just remember that we can't change the past all we can do is move forward, there is a reason that this was your process! Good luck!
  6. I have yet to have my surgery so input there, however I was told that adding parsley to my diet would help with this. I have also done extended fasts int he past where this was a problem and mint tea helped me. It naturally settles tummies and it has a smell that tends to work as a neutralizer. I am nervous about this too! Good luck!
  7. Thanks for sharing! I look forward to following your progress too! I am nervous now about the extent of the the post op issues but I know that it will be worth it!
  8. Ok, this is fun! I have three... 1) Every year my friends that I have had since I was 12 and a bunch of new friends and family members all go camping a this secluded beautiful camp site in California. Out of my friends I was the first to get married and first to have kids but we are the same age and they are all gorgeous and fit and have never struggled with their weight. They wear bikinis all weekend and I always feel a little out of place in my black one piece and shorts. It's just my issue they love me, but I feel like I fit in with the older group not my age group because of my weight. I am less adventurous. They float down river in tubes and I usually go with them but it's harder for me because I have more to scrape against rocks, lol. At the end they jump off this rock and I have always wanted to do it but everyone sits around and watches as one at a time people jump and I am too self conscious. So, with that said next year at our camping trip I want to feel comfortable. No...scratch that this is a fantasy right? I want to wear a bikini and jump off the rock!....though this may be more accurate for the following year....but that's what I want and I am sticking to it! 2) I want my husband to be able to pick me up easily for ya know... and for us to be able to be playful and wrestle without me being self conscious. We have a great sex life, but there is this less of him being turned on by my body and more of other things and I want to drive him wild with my body. I want to be able to wear the clothes and lingerie that he thinks is sexy, right now I can't pull that off...so those are my fantasies in my marriage. 3) I want to be a skinny mom as my children grow up. I want my son and daughter to grow up healthy and for them to have a healthy mom. I want my teenage son (who is only 8 now) to be able to pick me up when he is grown.
  9. This whole thing started when I went to see my doctor hoping that he would prescribe me weight loss pills. I had been trying to lose weight hard core for almost a year and little to nothing happened. I gave up wheat, was eating 1400 calories or less, was lifting and running...and getting now where. He shocked me when my doctor suggested WLS, but I jumped on it. At first I was all about the band, my husband thought it was the best fit for me; Less invasive, faster recover,y not permanent,...ect...but then I did more research and the idea of having going through ANOTHER procedure, like so many banders, down the road was a deal breaker for me. If I'm gonna do this then I might as well jump in head first, right? After all with greater risk comes greater reward right? SO, here I am. I have spent countless hours researching about the band and while the sleeve is similar it is not the same. I have to shift gears and get my information in for this surgery. I am almost complete with my pre-op stuff and my doctor says I should be approved and scheduled for September. Thanks for this outlet of support I will begin flooding this forum with questions soon!
