    My Best Nsv

Thank you to both of you! I absolutely love my sleeve and the life it has given back to me. I've read some about both of you and it's sounds like you guys are rockin your sleeves!
  2. I just tried in a pair of my daughters jeans, size 8 to see how far away I am from fitting into an 8. They fit! For the first time in my life I was able to put on, button and zip and single digit!! That is by far the most awesome thing to me!

And to your questions earlier about pain. My sleeve was way easier than my c section. I had very little pain. Never took the prescription pain medicine. Took Tylenol twice the week after surgery. I got a wicked headache from stopping caffeine. (So I would strongly advise to wean off caffeine prior to surgery lol). I just had a laparoscopic hysterectomy 2 weeks ago and didn't have much pain with it but the sleeve was still easier.

What's the story behind your profile name?

Wls4me because one day out of frustration, after quitting weight watchers for me I said to my husband "weight loss surgery for me it is now". Not very creative My hooker name however: Buffy Fifth Avenue. Sounds like I'm a high class hooker ????

    What Is Skinny Anyways?

I love this thread! This is something that I've been thinking about a lot lately as I near my "goal". My surgeon did not set a goal for me, just told me statistically I could plan on losing 50-60% of my excess body weight then go from there. Well that would have left me at 200-210lbs. There was no way in hell I was going through all of this to still weigh 200 lbs! So I set my own goal at 160. My weight on my day of surgery was 260. So I wanted to lose 100lbs. I am now at 167 and trying to figure out where I want to be. 157 is the top of the "normal" BMI. But I don't really care about the BMI chart. I also wanted to wear a size 12 because that's the smallest size I can remember wearing. Well now that I'm 167 I can wear a 10 and even get an 8 on and zipped (camel toe alert!). So am I skinny? I thought so when I wore a 20. I still have curves which I want. People say I'm skinny but I don't think so. I still look chubby in pictures (i think, my husband says otherwise) I don't really know where to go from here. I'm ecstatic to have come this far and will be happy if I never lose another pound or inch. But I can't figure out where I want to be and what size/weight/number will get me there.

There are multiple threads in the powder room on this. It seems the general consensus in there is yes! Yes! Yes!

    Medicalert Bracelet-Yes Or No?

I can tell you from the standpoint of a sleever and a paramedic/ER RN. If I need to be intubated then they are welcome to go for it. I want them to do it! If it is done correctly no harm to your stomach will be done. The small risk definitely outweighs the benefits of life.

My husband has been very supportive. He wasn't crazy about surgery in general but he understood I was doing this for my health. He would ask me every day how much protein and water I've had.

Hi Zoumommy! I had my surgery in Charlotte NC. There are a lot of hoops to jump through to get to your surgery date. Just stick with it and you'll have your date before you know it. They psych eval was pretty easy for me. And be reading posts on here it seems everyone's psych visit was a little different. The big thing I think they are looking for ate eating disorders and making sure you are being treated for them prior to surgery. This surgery can fix a lot of things but it cannot fix your head. It's been a wonderful journey for me.
  15. Hi I'm assuming by your name you live in Mt Airy NC? Correct me if I'm wrong. I had my sleeve done in Feb in Charlotte and I'm a RN in Charlotte as well. I live in Concord. Where are you having your surgery?

Hi princesstami. Don't know if you're still looking for someone but ill give you a little of my story. I'm 10 months post op from the sleeve. I have had no complications and a pretty easy time all things considered. I've lost 95lbs with about 5 lbs to goal. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.
  17. FYI the gastric bypass and RNY are the same surgery. Duh. Thanks for correcting me. I meant the plication. No clue why my phone typed RNY. Lol. Guess its time for me to go to bed.
  18. They can kiss azzes because they ain't pooping staples ???? Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled program. My reason for the sleeve. First, my surgeon doesn't do the band, only continues care for his patients that he banded previously, due to low success rates and increasing long term complications of slippage, erosion, obstruction etc. Gastric bypass was a no go because I have Crohns Disease and already had a bowel resection. So rerouting of my GI tract and malabsorption/malnutrition was not an option. I didn't look into and never really thought of the RNY- no particular reason. My reason for my sleeve and the beauty of it. My main cause of weight gain (as is most of us) was portion and carb control. Removing 85% of my stomach took care of the portion control issue. The diet plan is Protein first then fruits and veggies then starch. I never have room for starches by the time I eat my protein. I wanted a permanent solution for a permanent problem. All of the functionality of my GI tract stays the same. Risk of complications is low, latest I've heard is 3-4%. I just had a hysterectomy 1 week ago and my OB/GYN said the risks of complications for hysterectomy (which is a routine surgery done for decades) is 5.5%. I have completely changed my lifestyle and I feel awesome. I am 10 months post op and have lost 95lbs.
  19. I haven't been able to find it since the upgrade. Anyone else having difficulty navigating now?

    Where Is The Vets Board?

Thank you for fixing this for me!
  21. The Fitness forum is now under the General Weight Loss Surgery category. It's all the way at the bottom of my screen on my iPhone. I do Crossfit too. It is what you make of it. If you are sensible you will be fine. If you go in and over do it you could easily put yourself into rhabdo. Interesting article.

    Where Is The Vets Board?

That would be great! Also, with the old version I had the emails set so I did not receive any. With the upgrade I now receive emails. How do I change this setting on an iPhone? Thanks

    Where Is The Vets Board?

I'm using an iPhone. I found it now, thanks for the instructions. I have to be honest, I find the new version very cumbersome and full of information that I don't need. I would like to be able delete certain forum/boards that don't apply to my. Just my opinion ???? thanks
