  1. Thanks for all your advice everyone. The feeling is still there but not as bothersome at all today- barely there. I didn't call the dr because I could eat and drink just fine and felt better. I'm thinking this is the green zone and maybe I was just needing a little swelling to go down from that one episode.

If this is it- it's amazing. I had lost 65lbs already since when I was banded in February, but this is the first time I've felt restriction. I had plagued for the last 2 months and just started losing again and it's so easy and I'm never hungry. (It's been a week since the fill). I'm just going to be really careful with my bite size and the foods I chose from now on!

  2. Hi,

So last Friday I had a fill. I knew I was finally close to the green zone and think I got there after the fill. Eating was difficult but I was able to drink fine and eat as long as the food was moist and I took very small bites(like we are supposed to).i hadn't really followed this rule to the t before because my band wasn't restricted enough so even though my bites were small, they weren't small enough for the green zone. Does that make sense?

Anyway, last night I tried pizza- I just thought it'd be fine because I have eaten it before. I didn't eat the crust. Anyhow, I had my worst stuck episode(and I haven't had many). I slimed, pb'd and felt like I heaved(only once). Enough came up or went down though and I felt fine within 15 minutes. Since then, I have this feeling like something is in the back of my throat- it not painful at all, just annoying. Just feels like something is there and I want to swallow it but can't. I am able to eat and drink fine, I've been very careful with my choices and bite size. I also feel almost like the feeling of a little rawness in the back of my throat where that spot is.

Maybe I'm paranoid, but I'm nervous about it. Is this normal- should I call my dr or just try liquids for a couple days? Thanks for listening.

  3. Thanks everyone! I am thankful I'm not hungry yet. I really hope this lasts as long as possible! I feel great already for the simple reason that my body is kind of purified of soda and fried/processed foods I used to eat. I haven't cheated at all and have followed dra order since my preop diet started 3 weeks ago. I'm just so thankful for this new start. I just keep telling myself that this surgery was such a huge undertaking and that I did it to be successful and nothing else.

  4. Hi- just a quick question for all the veterans. I was banded last Thursday. Since then I have not been hungry at all. My doctor gave me 2 goals for week 1- drink 64oz of Water a day and drink 3 Protein Shakes per day. Other than the Protein, I'm on a completely clear liquid diet.< /p>

My question is that I have had absolutely no trouble drinking tons of water and my Protein shakes. I'm not drinking them because I'm hungry- only to meet my goals. I have read on here that lots of people have trouble keeping these things down in the beginning. Is it also normal to not have trouble?

My other minor worry is that I'm taking in so little calories. I'm guessing this is no big deal though since its just the first week?

  5. I just finished day 3 as well. Today I felt pretty good, but I rested tons because I have to go to work tomorrow and I know it will be very difficult. I'm on Clear Liquids til next Friday, but my Dr includes Protein Shakes in the clear liquid stage. I just bought some unflavored Protein Powder and I'm looking forward to adding it to Soups next week! I am very lucky that I have had no gas pains, but my tummy gets quite sore at night and 1st thing in the morning. Are people still taking painkillers? I have been cutting back a lot on them.

  6. Thanks everyone. I was only feeling scared because I thought "no one" ever vomited while still in the hospital. My dr is great and he put me at ease with his thorough testing. I probably would be scared if he didn't go through all he did to make sure everything was in the right place. My nausea has not come back and I've been doing excellent on post op stage 1 diet. I really appreciate people responding!

  7. This will be great to help me stay on task! I think I need to log on on my computer to accept your friends request. I usually am on my iPhone. I will be on the computer in a little but and figure it out. Just wondering when you all are planning going back to work(of you are)? I am supposed to back Monday, but if I'm not up to it, I'll just have to call out sick. I'm a teacher so I'm really trying to take off as little as possible.

  8. Hi, I was banded on Thursday 2/21. I'm a 32 year old mom and have 2 preschoolers and a wonderful, supportive husband. I was just looking for a band buddy who was banded around the same time so we could share experiences.

I haven't weighed myself since surgery an will probably wait til Monday morning but I'm so anxious to see the number on the scale! Oh - one last this- I'm hoping to lose 90lbs. (I already lost 20 thought the preop diets)

  9. Thank you everyone- that makes me feel better. I have been reading this site since my pre-op first consult, even though I don't post much. I do not know anyone else who has a gastric band, so it's really been amazing and so helpful. Now that I have my band, I plan to post more often and maybe find a buddy that was banded at the same time. Thanks again!

  10. Hi All!

I am happy to say I was banded yesterday! Just feeling sore right now but no gas pains- happy about that. So, my question has to with my recovery yesterday. It didn't go as smoothly as expected.... All of the pain meds they gave through IV made me incredibly nauseas(even when coupled with Zofran)

The scary part is that I actually vomited yesterday while in the hospital. Sorry if TMI, but it was a little bloody. Of course this happened while in the hospital and my nurses and doctors were well aware. Before I left they ran lots of extra tests, including a barium swallow and in"ate" broth as well. I am no longer so nauseas. I guess I'm just nervous because I had read so many times you should never vomit and I'm scared that I did on the first day. I'm glad to have my docs reassurance, but just wondering if this happened to anyone else and how unusual it is. I'm just so afraid of a slip! Any thing you could share would be helpful!

Other than that everything is great and I'm so excited to finally be banded.

  11. Hi everyone-

I am having my surgery 1 week from today and just starting to prep for after surgery. I was wondering what milk you all prefer to mix with your Protein Powder and why. I go back and forth between them as I like them all. For example skim milk is most Protein but also most carbs. I love almond because its so low in carbs but its also low in protein. And then soy is sort of in the middle.

Is one better than the other when it comes to weightloss? Thanks for your input!

  12. I don't post much- but I want to start! I started my liquid diet today(one day early because I had all the stuff and I was so anxious!) I have to do the New Direction diet if anyone is familiar?

It's 3 items a day(soups or shakes) and unlimited Water, broth, and sugar free Jello. So far so good- then again it's only 5pm on day 1. I am just so psyched to finally be beginning this process. My surgery is on 2/21!

  13. Any one else scheduled around this time? I've been waiting 6 months due to my insurance and I have used the time to finish every preparation possible so my surgery can happen as soon as the time is up! I can't wait!
