  1. This exact thing happened to me....I am 5'11 as well...and when i first went in I was around 268ish..wasn't quite enough the 40bmi..i was like a 37ish. Someone accidently sent it to my insurance and of course I got denied...well my doctor basically said we could try and find some co-morbities like sleep apnea or other things to see if i could qualify with a 35 bmi or i could put on a few lbs to meet the 40. I clearly didn't have any of the co-morbities thank god so i knew my only option was to put on a few lbs. My doctor hated that I had to do that and hated suggesting it but there was no other option...So i had a re-check a month and a half or so later and i was able to meet the 40 bmi. So they just re-submitted it and I was approved! Talk with your doctor, see what they say.

  2. My mom went through the same thing...and worse..we had our surgeries jan 4th together..and while mine went really well hers was rough. she was in the hospital for over a week...her band was swollen...had to take the tiny bit of Fluid that was in out...her throat was swollen..she couldnt even pass Water for a week...she was only getting water from an iv...and then after the swelling would go down she would try a sip of water and she would throw it back up and get swollen again and the process would repeat! and she kept sayind what i have done...but she didnt give up! we are now almost 6 weeks out and shes doing amazing!!!! shes so happy (as am i) that we did this...i know its rough in the beginning..i kept saying what the hell did we do...but just honestly give it time...just a few weeks ago i was making a post like yours asking why i did this..and now i get to answer one! youll do great! just dont give up!!! if my mom can do it so can you!!!!

  5. well' date=' like TMF, at around 4 weeks was when my port stopped being tender but i will be healing (my mental change) for the rest of my life to a better way of thinking from insecure/weepy to want to attitude..probably not the answer you all wanted but its the one i wanted to express.[/quote']

Thanks! Yes i think healing mentally will be for life!

  6. I think this is so different for everyone' date=' just like your weight loss journey will be. I am normally a very quick healer and was back to push mowing the lawn in 3 days. What you need to do is listen to your body and do what's best for you. Don't use others experiences to determine whether you are on track or not. This can lead to unwanted and unneeded discouragement! Your journey will differ so much from others even though we end with similar results! Good luck and stay positive! Strive for better health![/quote']

Thanks so much!! Wow day 3? I was still on my ass day 3! hahaha! I'm day 6 and feel a million times better! :)

  7. Can you remember what it was that you held around your stomach? I've 2 other lap surgeries (gall bladder & spleen)' date=' and my biggest problem was going from a sitting position to a laying down position and vice versa. I will probably have the same issue. Wish I had my old bed which sat high...but I don't. My surgery date is 30 Jan...just trying to be ready.[/quote']

That's been my problem too..I'm fine sitting, but getting up and stuff hurts from using those muscles!!
