  1. I've been working to lose 25 pounds I've regained. I've been at the same weight for three days. It's not long but it feels like forever. One thing I'm trying to do is look at the non-scale victories. In my log in addition to weight loss there was a column to list non-scale victories. This was very helpful during my dry spells whether 2 days or two weeks. The key is doing better for the long run.

Non scale victories this week -

    Feeling slimmer

Free from the guilt of overeating

    Healthier due to increased exercise

Better control over my actions (not eating out of impulse)

  3. I got to goal in less than a year 104.5 lbs lost. Over the last few months I've not eaten/exercised the way I should and I've gained back 26 lbs. I've gotten further and further away from goal. I need to lose 21 lbs min to be at a happy/healthy place.

Joined a closer gym and started working out in the mornings again (my ideal time). Now just need to get back eating correctly and because I'm hungry and not because of stress, boredom and just because I'm happy or want to Celebrate.

I loved being at a healthy place and fitting clothes well.

  4. There are several support groups that I attend in the NE Plano area. Near Allen, Frisco, Richardson. We have one guy that drives from Forney to attend. There's a group of us that have impromptu get togethers as well. Ten of us met today at an area Starbucks, we do things like this on a fairly regular basis. If you're interested, email me at curt_frisbie@msn.com and I'll add you to our list, I'll make sure you're included.

Where in Richardson and NE Plano? I live in Wylie and would like to find a closer support group.

  5. I put my question on a couple of the boards on this site. Hoping someone will have used it or some someone else who has. I just don't know what Protein peptides are. But boy, is it nice stuff...very fine, doesn't clump, and one serving is just a little scoop, maybe a tablespoon and a teaspoon measure. That's a lot nicer than the packets of protein that are you have to blend and shake and really work hard to get it mixed into anything.

I've never heard of protein peptides?

  6. OMGOODNESS!!! I WANT A MENTOR ... MY DATE WAS OCTOBER 1ST...IM IN PAIN FROM THE GAS... MY STOMACH IS ACTUALY GROWLING BUT IM TERRIFIED OF EATING NYTHING .... I HATE VOMITING ALWAYS HAVE AND IM SCARED I WILL IF I DO EAT SOMETHING... I HAD HICCUPS YESTERDAY AND THAT ALMOST KILLED ME... SOMEONE HELP MEEEE

The beginning is the hardest. Walk walk and walk some more. It will help relieve the gas. Hiccups means you are taking in liquid too quickly. You should be taking baby sips (and no straws).

Message me if I can help.

  7. I would love a seasoned sleever to buddy with. I was sleeved in Oct 2012 and lost just over 100 pounds. I've been off track for awhile and gained back almost 25 pounds.

I'm determined to get back on track and although I don't have to get as low as I was originally I do need to take off at least 15-20 pounds and more importantly eat right, exercise and not use food as a go to.

    Thanks,

    Pamela

  8. Hi smithpy--so sorry you are struggling. Those major life stressors can (and do) derail us big time. BUT, you are NOT IN DENIAL of the reasons for your weight gain, and that is something to pat yourself on the back for!!! You are taking ACTION!!!You have gotten great words of wisdom here so far from the above posters (as we all always do!). Please remember too, though, that you first have to get your responses to all the STRESS in your life under control before you can recommit to your WLS healthy eating habits and lifestyle. (You know-- Are you paying attention to how important it is to be GOOD TO YOURSELF EVERY DAY? Moms tend to put ourselves last, and that usually means zero time for US. Do you meditate? Do you do deep breathing? Do you take a fun short-term class/workshop? Do you meet a friend? Do find a self-help book of interest? Do you enjoy nature? Do you sing a motivational song, even if you can't sing? Do you journal? Do you buy some dumb little special thing for yourself once a week? Can you have just 4 hours a week that can be JUST YOU time that someone cares for the kids? etc etc? ). Only you know the answer to this, and of course it is not expected that you respond in any way to this here. Please do not take offense--you mentioned alcohol, and I'm sure you are aware of the potential of transfer addictions with WLS patients. Just wanted to offer a caution. You don't say how old your kid(s) are, but get them on the bandwagon with you, and create some FUN stuff to do together--both in healthy meal prep AND with fun exercise activity. Don't go this alone. This is a TEMPORARY setback, and you will clean up your habits and move on to your healthy lifestyle again! You go girl. . .

Honestly I hadn't thought about focusing on stress relief but you are right if I learn to manage the stress it may help manage the eating triggers. The kids and I are going to attend a counseling works support group which starts in Sept.

No offense about the alcohol. I'm aware of the research and that does worry me which why I brought it up here.

Thank you all for your words of encouragement. I did "better" this week but still a way from back on track.
