    Any Sleeve Buddies From Michigan?

At least for me the pain is easing up every day so I'm expecting to feel good by next week. I have to force myself to eat since if I didn't think about it I probably would go the whole day without anything. Only problem I am having is I defiantly not getting enough Protein. My shakes suck and make me gag and I can only force about 4ozish a day down.

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time with insurance. I didn't have a hard time getting actually approved but the hoops I had to jump through was crazy. I hope it all works out for you!

    Motivation Tool!

I found this on Pinterest and decided to make one too. I am only a couple days out of surgery but it's a nice visual along with the number on the scale going down to see what you accomplished and what work still need to be done. I love it!

    Post-Op Diet

I'm two days out of surgery. Was on clear liquids yesterday and today I get to go back to my protein shakes. Was curious if I can have tomato soup??? Doc didn't mention anything about any other liquids besides the protein shakes.

    Post-Op Diet

That's too funny and a great idea! My kids use to eat the puffs when they were little. I know they are loaded with Vitamins and aren't half bad. I'm going to have to get some thanks for the tip!

    Any Sleeve Buddies From Michigan?

Sorry to hear about the complications! How scary! Mine went okay no complications and I went home yesterday. I am not as sore as I thought I was going to be, feels like I did 3000 sit ups but it's getting easier every day. I still have a lot of gas which for me is more painful than the actual surgery site so heating pads have been helping me. I said I wasn't going to but I end up weighing myself this morning and I'm down a pound lol but I'm sure there's still a ton of IV fluids in me. Keep updates everybody!

    Post-Op Diet

That's awesome you can have normal foods already! I cannot wait until I can even eat some fruit! I'm on full liquids right now but the only thing the dr stressed at the hospital were the Protein shakes. I know they are important but mine are nasty so I'm not only going to have only the shakes all day I need a little variety lol.

    Surgery Is Tomorrow Morning! :) :) :) :)

They did not need to take out the monitor said it should slide through so I will deal with that when the time comes. Home already thank GOD since everytime I tried to sleep last night somebody came in the room to do this and that so happy to be in my own bed. Pain isn't too bad at all feels like I did 3000 sit ups and my muscles ache that's about it. So far I haven't felt pain in my stomach from the staples like I read other people had so I am very thankful about that. I don't have a drain so I can use one of those belly binders to kindof hold everything in and it's working wonders I can get around much easier with it on.

Yes meds are good lol! Only bad thing is I just got my leak test. I didn't get the results yet but during my EGD last week the doctor put a monitor in my esophagus to measure my acid reflex. The monitor is the size of a pen cap and he said either it'll fall off before surgery or they will take it our during surgery since I had my hiatal hernia fixed as well and it wouldn't be able to pass. At my leak test we discovered it's still in my esophagus! Doctor never took it out so I might have to go back under to get it taken out!

    Surgery Is Tomorrow Morning! :) :) :) :)

Thanks everybody for the prayers and good luck wishes! Surgery was 10:00 yesterday. Got out of surgery a little sore and a lot of gas but nothing too bad. Today is a little worse but not anything majorly hurting just sore. Feels like I did 3,000 sit ups and my muscles ache. I am thanking god for this website and the things I read up on what to bring. Gas X strips have helped a lot, my little tiny pillow is a life savor, I wouldn't have gotten any sleep last night if it weren't for putting it against my belly when I laid on my side or using it to get out of bed. I brought a heating pad for my back also and it helped tremendously with gas and back pain. I would feel much better once they let me have a sip of soup or something. My leak test is in an hour but I didn't eat since 7:00 Tuesday night so I'm starving and weak.

  15. I went through all the weighins, psych evaluation, all the tests and everything and been considering it over a year. I was still uneasy and unsure since it is a major life changing experience. I was DREADING the liquid diet because I love the taste of food and food made me happy. I am on day 13 of the diet and it has taught me so much. I don't need fatty, unhealthy foods to survive the day - Not having cake at the inlaws didn't kill me - cravings go away- and watching the weight melt off even though it's only 12lbs so far already makes me feel healthy and more confident in myself. It's a scary thing to get into at first but for me I realized it's my health, I want to be healthy for my family and for myself and even though surgery is tomorrow I haven't actually gone under the knife yet so far I believe this is the best decision. You have to do what's best for you. Some people don't have the discipline in them and honestly I didn't think I did either if you'd ask me a year ago but I pleasantly surprised myself

Should I Tell The Inlaws About My Surgery?

Thanks everybody for your good points! I am so not going to tell them. The more I analyze this the more I realize if I tell them I would have to be prepared for all the friends and family, cousins, 4th cousins and dog groomer to know since they are horrible at keeping things to themselves. I watched my mom get pretty beat up by rude comments that some of her "friends" made when she told some of them she got sleeved. She kept the secret for 4 years now I think I'm just going to do the same with some people to avoid unnecessary drama.

Should I Tell The Inlaws About My Surgery?

I should add ----Only reason why I haven't really told them already is my mom had it done 4 years ago and they had the nastiest response and rude things to say to me. Her sister had major complications during gastric BYPASS which she doesn't know there is a difference so she said my mom was taking the "easy way out" and that it's an extremely dangerous and unnecessary surgery. Even with MIL's type two diabetes she still eats whatever she wants including desert every night so she wouldn't understand the whole me wanting to be healthy part. I don't want to be judged or for her to think I'm being irresponsible since I have two kids under 3 and if something god forbid goes wrong...... but like somebody said I don't want her to find out and be mad I didn't tell them either.
