  1. It's difficult. I have an almost exact same situation with my friend of 25 years. She has not supported my decision to have weight loss surgery since day one and we never discuss it. It's like a giant elephant in the room. She is still large and struggling with her weight, but she can't be happy with me for my results. We have also been business partners for the past 18 months and are in the process of going our separate ways as our relationship has now completely broken down. I have more confidence and respect for myself now than I used to and I have decided I don't have to put up with her putting me down to make herself feel superior. I have accepted a job on the Gold Coast starting in December and have suggested she buy me out of our company. Our friendship has changed irretrievably and. I am starting to think that even the best friendships may have an expiry date.I hope your friend changes her attitude and if she doesn't then life goes on.
  2. Sue what are the dates again for the Sydney get together?
  3. Are you Brisbane based? I live at The Gap at present, but moving to the Gold Coast in early. December.
  4. Wow that does sound remote. To be honest after I did some initial research and made my decision this thread has been my main source of information and support. Everyone on here has been very supportive and positive. My stats are as follows:Now 52 years old Pre op weight & my highest ever - 107kg with high blood pressure, sleep apnea, borderline diabetes and arthritis in my knees Op 14 August 2012 Today - 71kg. One kg off doctors goal and 6 off my own. On much lower blood pressure medication, no sleep apnea and now highly unlikely to get diabetes. I have felt energetic and fantastic ever since getting the sleeve. It's the best decision I ever made.
  5. My family is complaining that I am like a reformed smoker as I can't believe how much everyone eats and they are not big people. I have to stop commenting as I know I used to do what they still do. Anyone else experience this and any tips on best way to handle?
  6. Well done. Now the real fun begins! Enjoy the ride down to a slimmer healthier you
  7. All the best for a speedy recovery. We will be thinking of you today.
  8. If possible try t have a variety of sweet as well as savoury protein options during this phase. Meat & vege soups blended and watered down are good. They fill you up and keep any hunger at bay for a while. Variety helps during this stage. I made a list of possible options for the early stages and had the ingredients on hand, so maybe doing similar will help you too.
  9. Yes it's a magazine. Good to hear you have got to the bottom of your stalls. Hope it goes more smoothly from here on in.
