    Happy Or Not? -66 Lbs

I just wanna say you're incredible =) I loved the video, how honest and open it was. I am now 3 days post-op and it really helped me to see how well you're doing 6 weeks out. Keep up the awesome work =D
  2. Hello all, I am on my second night post-op and I am feeling completely bloated/nauseous/painful. I have not been able to pass much urine since they took the catheter out this morning and I was wondering if any of you had the same problem? I am getting down liquids slowly but I am sure some of the bloating is due to the inability to pass these liquids. Silly enough, I felt worlds better yesterday than I today. Anything more than the tiniest sip of Water and it feels like a bubble of water is lodged in my throat for a minute or two. It does dissipate, but it's incredibly painful. Anyway, I just wanted to see if other people had this issue/how they dealt with it/how long it lasted. Thanks

Congrats! Your day is comin up quickly! =)
  4. I haven't been to oa before, but it might be worth emailing the contact person in your area. They can usually give more detailed information and answer questions. Also, there probably are oa forums you could look up and ask there. Does your area have any weight loss surgery specific support groups?

    Feeling Ashamed....

PLT, I just want to say you are very brave and should be proud of yourself. I do not think surgery is a low like many portray it. It is a high point because you are willing to admit you need help and have not been successful on your own. Some people can make it through alone, and others, like us, cannot. That is nothing to be ashamed of, because the bottom line is we are doing this because we love ourselves and the people around us and want to be around with them for years to come. I didn't want to be under thirty and developing diabetes, and if this will help me prevent that, along with the other increases in health it will give me, then people can disagree with me all day, because I know I did the right thing for my body. I'm really glad your sister took it well =) I hope you are feeling better!

    No Support:(

I'm sorry that he is not being supportive. You deserve so much better than that. I agree with Toni's suggestion of bringing him to a consultation with your surgeon or something. Either way, (and I know its easier said than done) try to remember you are doing this for you. And we all know it isn't by any stretch of the imagination easy. Give it some time, maybe he will come around after thinking it over more. That really isn't something you should have to be putting up with. (((((Hugs!))))

    Cheated

It was a mistake, but you're owning up to it, which is important. Hop right back on that wagon and you'll be fine =) hang in there!
  9. I haven't tried, but I do know my doctor said you could theoretically get pregnant right away and be ok, but that he recommends waiting two years postop because otherwise you will stop the weight loss. I am hoping eventually that posing this weight will make it possible for me to have kids when I'm ready, pcos runs in my family and my obgyn thinks I prob have it too. Congrats about being ready to make a decision like that though, how exciting!
  10. You look amazing! Congrats!!
  11. Deep breaths guys =) we all just want each other to be healthy and okay through this healing time. No point in arguing down each other or trying defensive. That being said, I miss my diet coke too =p but I'm enjoying my little ice chips at the moment. I love plain Water too though, so I don't think it'll be quite as difficult for me. I know that I have had a lot of friends quit soda and they always enjoyed replacing it with things like crystal light.

    Date 7/30

I cleaned everything in my house, washed my sheets so I would have a nice clean bed to come home to. Packed my bag early. Definitely work with your incentive spirometer if they gave you one. Make a list of reasons you did this to bring with you for when you're having a hard time. Hydrate your skin wig lotion a few days prior (though not the immediate day before or day of according to my doctors plans) - my skin feels super dry now I wish I had thought of that one. And most of all, relax! You're in the home stretch now, get some good sleep and you will do fantastic
  13. Thanks for all the Congrats and encouragement. I really appreciate it =)
  14. Wow, that's scary passing out like that, I'm glad you were ok! I can see how that'd happen with a low bp though. Did they keep you longer because of it?

    Unbelievable

(((((Hugs))))) you are such a trooper hanging in there. I'm so sorry to hear about your strictures, but I'm glad they figured of what it was. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that thy will have an easy time stretching it and all will go back to normal for ya.
  16. At first its a bit like you're tricking your body, but then it catches on and will stall as it gets everything back on track. During stalls we tend to lose inches, so measure and hang in there!
  17. You can do it. Are you measuring yourself? Often if we are on a plateau our body is still losing inches. At least in the past that's how my body would work : drop pounds for a few weeks, drop inches for a few weeks, rinse and repeat

    T Minus 9 Hours And 25 Minutes

Less than 12 hours until my surgery. Only a bit under nine and a half hours until I need to be at the medical center. I want to be super excited, but I find I am just EXHAUSTED from work and clear liquid diet (I can't seem to find much of anything with protein that is clear and liquid). I feel like I could sleep for days. Next time I talk to you guys, I will be sleeved! See you on the other side!
  19. Thanks everyone for the well wishes =D I will keep you guys updated. AnxiousOne - Good luck =D I think things will go great for both of us!

    How Do You Deal With.....

I don't know that I think it's really them being selfish. It sounds like a couple of things from my perspective. It sounds like the first friend with the sleeve may just feel like it's too personal to talk about. Maybe there is a lot about their experience that you haven't heard about and she's not ready to explore that yet. Many people don't feel comfortable talking to the people they know about the surgery. This forum is a bit different because it's more anonymous, and you know everyone is accepting of it, since the forum is based around the sleeve. That's just my guess, it does not sound like it was supposed to be rude, although it may have come off that way. The second person it sounds like had an difficult post-op experience and is probably still struggling a lot with emotions and food addiction. So your wanting surgery sounds like it brought up a surge of emotions. At the very least, it sounds like she was trying to look out for you a little, not wanting you to go through the pain she did, although she definitely worded it poorly.

    Now We Cross Our Fingers...

My fingers are crossed for you! I'm not gonna lie, I would probably be one to call them every day and ask =p

    Today Is My Day

Yay =) You'll be in my thoughts, it will go great!
  24. Deep breaths and keeping busy! That's how I've been making it through the days. I go in for surgery tomorrow, so I can't give advice on what definitely works post-op, but I'm prepared with my gas x strips, my biotene mouth spray, and comfy pillows. I've got some other stuff too, but these have sounded like the most essential from many posts I've read =)
  25. Yayyyy!!!! =D You are kicking butt! You'll be in onederland in no time
