  1. That sucks! I'm so glad that it was before surgery for you! That would have been horrible post-op. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that all those evil little stones stay where they are at least until you're good and healed.
  2. I'm so happy for you =) I am really looking forward to being able to ride again sometime, this really gives me hope!
  3. Good advice! I'm glad to hear you're doing well =)

    Birth Control?

It's in your uterus, so you shouldn't and your partner shouldn't be able to feel it (Not speaking from experience, but I did look up Mirena quite a while ago). I wasn't aware it had any kind of string though. I thought it was doctor puts in, doctor takes out.
  5. I'm sorry to hear you're having a hard time =( I haven't been having much hunger, but it seems like it can vary a bit. Maybe eat in a separate room from him for a few days? That's gotta be tough, whether it's head hunger or actual hunger! You are strong and can resist! Maybe make sure that if he is eating around you that you both are eating at the same time?

    Day 4 Post Op

I had my surgery on the 26th this month, so we may have been on the same date. I also had a small hiatal hernia repaired at the time of surgery. I am feeling much better today. I still am taking my pain medications on and off as needed. I am able to walk around with a lot less pain, but I still am having gas quite a bit. Gas-X strips are my best friend. I am sleeping most of the night now, waking up maybe once with pain. I can't sleep on my side, but am okay on my back. I do sometimes feel like my medicine gets stuck right above my diaphragm for like 5-10 seconds. It's uncomfortable, but then it gurgles and goes down. I am eating mostly strained creamy soup/pudding/jello/protein shakes/broth/juice...having a hard time getting in all my Protein and I'm a little dehydrated so I'm trying to convince myself to sip sip sip Water. My stomach/intestines are pretty much the noisiest things ever right now - they gurgle and growl constantly.

    Cigna And Uhc Approval Today.

Yay! I'm so happy for you guys =) It's exciting that you are doing it together. It'll be neat to have someone around who knows what you're going through. Are you having the same surgeon?
  10. The psychologist I saw for my psych evaluation had done a lot of bariatric evals and follow-up counseling and she said that she had seen a huge number of depression cases post weight loss. But a lot of her experience was in lapband, so I think she was referring more to the body image/not having adequate coping mechanisms/dealing with all the reasons we ate to begin with. For my own mental health, I'm planning on starting counseling soon and continuing with it. I know from experience that sometimes I fail in the coping strategies department and would like to be prepared.

Day 5 Of 10 Day Diet

My family has always eaten the same stuff they do. I found it easier pre-op to not eat with them because it was tempting, but post-op so far it hasn't really bothered me.

    Cigna Denied

Bummer. I'm sorry to hear about the denial, but don't give up hope. Your doctor may still be able to persuade them. Did they give you exact reasons for your denial? I would look through the reasons if they did and try and find counterpoints to them so that you can appeal after if needed.

    Refried Bean Cupcakes

Omgggg these look amazing! I am definitely adding them to my list for foods later on. Thank you for sharing!!
  14. You can do it! I got caught up worrying about the excess skin for a few days and decided I'll just have to deal with it when I get to it. It's not worth being unhealthy for imo. This next month is gonna fly by for you!

    27 Pounds Gone Forever!

27 pounds is a big deal for anyone! You're kicking butt =) Keep it up!
  16. Looking good! It's gotta feel great to actually WANT your picture to be taken =)
  17. I am not this far out, but have you tried cutting the portion size in half? Maybe it's the large amount at one sitting that's making your stomach unsettled. Or maybe mixing it in different things, like milk instead of water, etc.

    First Day Of Liquids!

Popsicles! I love them, and they're helping me get through liquid phases. You probably can have jello too. And stay hydrated - it's hard when it's so warm out.
  19. ((((((HUG)))))))) I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time =( The psychologist I got to do my psych eval said that she had read many studies that depression in weight loss surgery patients is very high for this reason. I think that you should seek out some help, even if it does mean going on antidepressants. And even if you do seek out help - it doesn't mean they will force you to go on antidepressants, some people do well with talk therapy and working on better coping strategies and support groups. Does the clinic/hospital you had your surgery at offer any kind of support groups? If they don't, I would search online and see if you can find a local weight loss support group. There are many people going through similar feelings. Lastly, I know that you don't know me, but I always love meeting new people and I am always an ear to vent to if you ever just wanna get anything off your chest. Sometimes it's nice to get it all out to someone who is not involved in any of your real life situations because you can be totally honest with no worries. Whatever you decide, please remember you are not alone. There are people to turn to, and things can get better. food is a tool, but there are other tools we can use to feel better, even though it's hard because we're so used to food and it's so comforting.

    Scared To Exercise

From what I've read about Biggest Loser they work out hours every day. It does not sound like a healthy thing to me. I'm sorry to hear about your plantar fascitis. I have foot pain too (Although I imagine yours is probably worse) and it can make standing unbearable at times. Everyone's ideas so far sound really good. I know I always enjoy swimming and can always do it no matter how my feet are feeling.

    Just Curious...?

All my weight sat in my hips and butt so I was always jealous of all you who could be 260+ still in 20's! I think I was in 24's at 260. I was in 22's around 230's. Now at 320's I am in 28's, can't waitttt to get back to 20's but I know it's still pretty far =p
  22. I haven't been banded. Never had reflux per-surgery, haven't had any post-surgery so far either. My doctor does have me on Prevacid solutabs for at least a month as precaution. I've heard both ways about reflux.
  23. Welcome to VST! I'm sorry to hear that you've shared so many of the difficult experiences many of us have had, but I'm glad to hear that it sounds like things are working out for you now =) Keep us updated on your progress. And good job sticking in there even through insurance pulling a fast one on you - that must have been incredibly frustrating!
  24. What a trial! I'm so sorry that this happened to you, but I'm glad you made it through the procedure. Hang in there, it will get better. Praying for a quick recovery for ya.
  25. What a deal! Now I wanna try one..haha
