  1. Yayyy! I'm glad to hear that there were no complications. The first few days are definitely quite painful. Believe me, it gets better soon! Get up and walk walk walk, those gas pains are killer and being active really helps cut some of it down.

    I Want To Cry... :(

I think some of this is your responsibility, although your bariatric clinic should have looked into it too. The first thing I did was call my insurance and get the list of requirements. Insurance companies always want a laundry list of stuff done. I am sorry though that you have to wait. I'm sure it's frustrating. I'm happy to hear that you're not giving up. Have you been getting weighed at your doctor/the bariatric clinic over the past couple months at all? See if you can use any of those weights, maybe you can cut down some of the time!

    Itchy Skin?

I was told under no circumstance to take the steri-strips off until they fell off naturally on their own. Strange to have such opposite instructions. I am itchy too! I know it's just because it's healing (Ever had a big cut before - they itch as they're getting better) but it drives me nuts too!
  5. I feel your pain. I'm almost a week post-op and I don't really feel like eating either. For the time being we just need to make it a priority to get in our Protein. I, for one, am making it my priority because it decreases your risk of losing hair - I don't think I'd look good in a wig =p I schedule my meals so even though I don't feel like eating, I get it in. Some stuff still tastes good, so I try and make that my lunch to kind of give me a pick me up through the day (Homemade chicken broth...yum!). I also have the bad habit of watching tv shows while I eat. In this instance it has been good because if I'm eating something that's meh (Protein shakes...yogurt) it keeps me distracted and makes it easier to eat the amount that I should. Hang in there, it's getting better for me day by day and I'm sure it will look up soon for you too.

    Surgery Thursday

It's always scary right before surgery. You do have time to turn back if you decide that's what you want, but I have a feeling that's just the nerves talking. Once you get the surgery you will be very happy =) It's painful, but worth it in the long run. Write down all the reasons you want this. Then when you're having second thoughts you can really look through and calm your nerves. Thursday will be here before you know it! And good job on your pre-op diet - losing some weight really helps decrease your surgical risk.

    My Pcp Changed His Mind

I'm so glad that things worked out okay for you. I would have flipped if I was in your shoes!!! Did you ever end up talking to the first doctor and seeing what his reasons were?

    One Down

Woohoo! One step down and time to move on to another!
  10. Does your doctor want you to stick with three meals? I know my clinic prefers that we get in six small meals daily and they'd like us to continue that through maintenance if possible. Small Protein....Have you tried the babybel cheeses? I am a fan of those. How about protein shots? String cheese? Edamame?
  11. LOL This was perfect, my screen was scrolled just right so that I couldn't see the just kidding and I was reading and my mind was going "Whhaaaaaaaaat?????????????" and then I scrolled down after thinking you were a creeper and then saw the just kidding I was like "PHEW!" =)
  12. If you go to the search bar and type in their name I think it will give you the option to search for another user.

So Shaving Your Legs And Being Obese

Aughhhh, I hate shaving my legs lol. Yes I think it is monumentally harder to shave while heavy. And now that I've had this surgery it hurts to bend over to shave so I'm wearing pants for the next few days until I've recovered enough to comfortably shave.

  15. Oh man, this is bad news for me! I LOVE pickles haha. I will have to keep an eye on this so that I don't go pickle crazy too...it would be too easy!

Good luck! You are gonna do awesome, I know it! Keep us updated on how the surgery goes and try and relax today!
  20. I know it's hard to see now, and maybe will be for a long time, but if your scar tissue has connected to your liver and your surgeon was not confident with the procedure, it is VERY VERY good that he did not continue. If I were you I would try and get the records of the procedure and send them to any doctor you are thinking of having the sleeve at so that you can make sure you find a surgeon who is confident and prepared as much as possible for the surgery. I am so sorry that this has been so awful for you. I have heard so many stories of all the problems that lapband has caused for people...It's really not fair that you have had so many tries to get this right and it just hasn't worked out. Keep faith that when it's the right time, it will happen. You want it done by a surgeon who knows what he's doing.
  21. It kinda sneaks up on you, doesn't it?! Yayyy! I know that by now you're probably already out of surgery, so I'm sending positive good healing thoughts your way!! Let us know how things go!

    After Surgery

Do they have you on a proton pump inhibitor for the acid reflux? I'm sorry that you're having so much pain and vomiting. Have they tried changing drugs for nausea? I know it's hard, but try to keep faith that it will get better. It seems horrible right now, and you seem to have drawn some unlucky cards, but in time your body will heal and you will be better. You're still less than a week out of surgery, so you probably have a lot of swelling still. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

    After Surgery

I'm sorry to hear that it's been so difficult for you. I strongly encourage you to let your nurses know that you're still in pain and that you're having a lot of nausea. They can increase the pain medications and give you something for the nausea. I know it doesn't feel like it right now, but just in a few short days you will be feeling much better. Hang in there!
  24. You are only a little over 2 weeks out from the appointment! It will be here before you know and you'll be turning around it'll be time to be sleeved! Woohoo! =)
  25. Yay!! I'm happy for you =D What a great feeling to have that all off your back! It's amazing how weight creeps up on us and we don't even realize what a ridiculous amount we were carrying around every day. Once we put it in perspective it's like holy crap - no wonder I was feeling horrible all the time! I am carrying around 2 people right now in weight! Keep up the great work, you deserve it!
