  1. OMG - I thought I was the only one who did that!!! Although I gave up wearing skirts & dresses years ago. I'd love to wear them to work again!!!

  3. Or how about not trying to avoid the mirror after the shower so you don't have to see yourself naked!!
  4. I was just thinking about posting a question like this this morning. Anyway - I'm excited about running/jogging again. Right now at my weight it's too much on my ankles. I'd also like to try a yoga class thin - where my stomach doesn't constantly get in my way - and ofcourse, enjoying buying new clothes that I look good in!!!
  5. I've been allergic to aspirin since I was 19, which what a lot of ppl don't know apparently including many doctors, you shouldn't take ibuprofen or alleve. Anyway I do suffer from the occasional migraine and I told my Dr. that tylenol just didn't really work for them and he prescibed me Fioricet Tab Nova, which does seem to work for my migraines and all other types of pain that acetominaphen alone doesn't work for anymore.
  6. I agree. I think that any surgeon who has performed the RNY, which is a much more complicated surgery than the sleeve, would be more than qualified to do the sleeve. IMHO.
  7. Ahh o.k. I always thought it had to do with the bypass of the intestine but it has to do with undigested food moving too fast through you stomach. Good to know - I didn't think you could get it with the sleeve.
  8. How can you get "dumping syndrome" when there's no bypass of the intestines?
  9. I didn't read through all the responses so I don't know if this was covered - but at the informational seminar I attended, the doctors said that the mortality rate of of RNY is 1/200 while the mortality rate for both the lap band and the sleeve was 1/2000. I hadn't heard of the VSG before this seminar so I had decided I wanted the RNY but when I found out the above info and that these surgeons that I'm going to don't even do RNY anymore because of the complications. I thought the sleeve was the best option for me.
  10. It kind of creeped me out a little at first but then I just thought I had my gallbladder removed; ppl get their tonsils, appendix and many other things removed. Its no different than that.
  11. Thanks for the response. LOL - Like most of us I've been good at losing weight - but not keeping it off. So previously when I was losing weight - I was in pretty good shape & did P90X- but I've since gained it all back. I was thinking of trying to start back with a modified version of the P90X before I have the surgery. I haven't had my surgery yet, my 1st appt. with my surgeon on 8-9.
  12. Just curious - once you get clearance to lift weights etc. how hard can you work out. I've done P90X in the past and really like it but I'm just wondering if it's something I could do on 600-800 calories. I've done it eating 1200-1500 but never such a low caloric intake. I know I can adjust the workouts to do less reps etc, but I was just wondering is anyone else has done a hard workout like that or Insanity during their first year of weight loss.
  13. Wow what kind of insurance do you have? That's great!!

    Coca Cola Addict

Also - when I've given up caffeine I took tylenol every 4-6 hours for the 1st 2 days so I wouldn't get the headaches and that seemed to work. Maybe if you try the excedrine on a regular basis for a couple days and not wait until you get the headache that will help. And like everyone else said drink plenty of water.

    Coca Cola Addict

Usually withdrawal from caffeine from giving up coke or coffee only last 2-3 days and it happens within the first 2-3 days after giving up the caffeine. So if you're having headaches now after 2 weeks, I don't think its from the caffeine withdrawal.
  16. Did your surgeon's office refer you for the sleep apnea test? A few years ago I was going to get GBP and my surgeon's office referred me to the sleep disorder place. I barely slept that night at all (long story abt very slow very talkative tech there). anyway I may have slept 30 minutes tops that night. They sent it to their "experts" to review it and they still diagnosed me with sleep apnea. I sometimes wondered if since the bariatric surgeon has a relationship by sending patients for bariatric surgery to this place, if they might be a little more inclined to diagnose sleep apnea. Also they make money off insurance if you get the cpap machine.

    Over Eating

Also, I don't know anyone elses story - but I was NEVER a binge eater until about 2004 when I first went on Meridia and lost 52 pounds. It seemed like after that - if I would cheat, say with a small pizza, I would eat the whole thing in one sitting. I never used to do that even at my heaviest weight. But since I really started trying to lose weight it is something I have to watch out for. Hopefully the VSG will help with that since I don't like pain, I won't want to stretch out my sleeve, and I'll have a much smaller stomach.

    Burping

I think she has problems because she drinks out of straws - which I heard they tell you not to do because you can take in air. So that will probably help me make the decision not to use straws (which I like drinking out of straws now). LOL.
  19. O.K. weird question. I have not had the surgery yet, but I was watching some YouTube videos of patients who have had VSG and the one woman is still burping like every 1-2 minutes. I had to stop watching her videos, cuz it started to drive me crazy. She's about 10 months out of surgery now and still burping like that - so I thought if it drove me crazy to watch - is that what it's going to be like after the surgery? Does anyone else who's had the surgery burp that much - even after 10 months?

    Youtube

I've been watching a ton of YouTube videos as well & was thinking about that, but the only thing I worry about is mean ppl. A couple of the videos I watched the women said ppl posted really mean comments to them. I worry that would stress me out.

    Over Eating

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I've made the decision I want the surgery and my 1st appt. with the surgeon isn't until 8-9. I do want to get this under control though. I would like to lose 5-10 pounds before my appt. with my family doc on 8-6 and then my surgeon on 8-9. I think what I really want to do is just to not "diet" but really get my exercise consistent and just eat normal - no binging!!
