  1. I agree you're probably dealing with head hunger. One item my doctor's office recommends to help you satisfy the 'chewing' need/want. Try mixing jello with only the first water ingredient. Pour the jello into a ice tray to set then when you take them out they are more 'chewable' than the standard mixture. Stronger flavor but at least it gives you something to chew on. Good luck! Hang in there! (I'm starting week 5 post op today so I know exactly how you're feeling.) You'll get there; just give your tummy time to heal properly to decrease any problems in the future. Take Care!
  2. A dermatologist should be your next stop. He/She will be able to help you with it for sure.
  3. I strongly recommend you obtain at lease a second opinion on your revision procedure. I have read about others on this site with regard to revision surgery and I don't recall anyone saying they would be required to pre approve an OPEN procedure instead of laprascopic for the revision. Your recovery time will be a lot longer after going through the OPEN procedure. Good luck!
  4. I'm not sure how FMLA works if the doctor is out of country. May not change anything but regardless it's worth a try. Forward your FMLA paperwork to the Dr. and then you'll know for sure. Good luck!
  5. Sounds to me like it's time for you to start looking for a new doctor. The ultimate choice should YOURS as to the procedure performed. It's you body and you will be the one going through everything. My doctor advised there was about 10% difference in the number of people (95% vs 85%) who overcome diabetes with the sleeve vs the RNY/gastric by-pass. The nutritional deficincies experienced with the RNY/gastric by-pass are too much of a risk than I personally would be willing to take. I would search for another doctor if I were in your shoes. Good luck!
  6. Scheduled for Sept 18, 2012 with Dr. David Kim at Baylor Trophy Club Medical Center in Fort Worth, TX. Nervous but sooo looking forward to feeling better and starting my new life. Can't wait to be on the losers bench! Good luck to all of the other September sleevers...
  7. I have read on this website of others having difficulty due to hormonal changes our bodies will go through. Go to the VST home page and search for post op emotions hormonal changes. You should find plenty to read...
  8. Welcome Gabbott3. This site will help ease your nerves. You've found a site with many upbeat individuals who are happy to help with any questions you may have. I'm not sure how much you have viewed but so far everything I wondered about before I found this site has been answered in only a few weeks of viewing the many areas. Now prepare your self for unlimited knowledge regarding the vertical sleeve. The one thing I keep telling myself is that everyone's story is unique to the individual. Just because someone else loses more weight than you means nothing. You will lose at your body's pace. Best recommendation anyone can take is to follow YOUR doctor's directives. T
  9. I am still preop and also dreading my two week preop diet. With my doctor we are allowed 4 Bari-Essentials shakes a day if mixed with skim milk or 5 Bari-Essential shakes if mixed with water and sugarfree jello or sugarfree popscicles. Of course we are also to drink plenty of water but can add crystal light if we choose. Oh yea, unsweet coffee and tea are also an option. One more thing, we can have a cup of Swanson's low sodium chicken broth each day to break up the sweetness of everything else we can eat. Looking forward to the procedure but still dreading it too!
  10. Congratulations! The news can't get much better than that...
  11. Scheduled for VSG Sept 18th w/Dr. David Kim; Baylor Surgical Center at Trophy Club, Fort Worth, TX. Can't wait...
  12. I am scheduled for September 18th with Dr. David Kim at Baylor Trophy Club Medical Center in Fort Worth. I'm nervous about the procedure but ready to take the next step on my journey.
