  1. Oh man I missed it. I so wanted to watch it.
  2. Okay after 3 days of using the CPAP machine I can officially tell you I HATE, I DETEST using it. I wake up feeling so tired and irritable with a headache. Where as before using this darn thing I wasn't feeling any of this. I don't know what to do honestly. If I don't use it I will not be able to have the surgery but I hate feeling this way..what to do, what to do?
  3. Hi I guess all Kaisers are all different. I started out at the beginning of the year. I was referred because I have all the comorbitites in the book. I don't qualify by weight by due to the fact that I have diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and recently diagnosed with sleep apnea I was approved. When I went to the orientation and thought the surgery was not for me. I did see a dietitian for 3 months did very well but I am still diabetic. So I decided to have the surgery and emailed my dr. and she immediately referred me to the classes and I am in the final process now. I see the surgeon on the 17th. of August to get my surgery date. I am going to the S.S.F Kaiser. I hope all woks for you.
  4. Hi I am drinking the premixed EAS 45gr. Protein. I drink 74 oz of Water daily. I take multi-vita and 4000 units of vit.D as per dr. It's weird but any time my bs gets below 100 I feel shaky and lightheaded. The dietitian had stated that it was because I wasn't eating enough food. Thanks for your help. I probably will email the dr.
  5. Hi it's me again with another question. I am type 2 diet controlled diabetic. I am in the process of having the procedure done. I have done all the testing and I see the surgeon again on the 17th of August. I had been following the pre-op diet of 1200 calories a day without any problems and eating about 850-1100 calories a day and exercising one hour 5 to 6 days a week. I had been losing weight. So I saw the surgeon on the 16th of July and he wants me to replace a meal with a Protein shake and stick to a 1000 calories a day. Now the protein shake is 300 cal. so that leaves me with 700 cal for the other two meals. But for some reason when I drink the shake in the morning I get super hungry all day long. So then I switched it up and having it for lunch.... the problem is that my blood sugar drops to the 80's- 90's which makes me feel very shaky and lightheaded giving me a headache and I can't concentrate. I am fine when it's in the 100-110. I feel that if I had 3 meals instead of the shake I would continue doing good. I don't want to go against Dr.'s orders but I hate feeling this way. I honestly don't know what to do. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
  6. That's exactly how I feel when my bs drops. Good luck and hope they find out what is causing all of your symptoms.
  7. WOW!! That is a very long time. I am glad you are going thru the process now. What Kaiser are you going to?
  8. I have a friend who went to the meetings and she did well while she went to the meetings but as soon as she stopped she gained the weight back.
  9. I know it doesn't sound to sexy to wear that mask but hey as long as everyone around me gets there sleep without my snoring. Have you gotten tested for sleep apnea?
  10. I go back next week to order mine. I am hoping that by them I have gotten used to the mask it not I will def. let them know I want to try something different.
  11. Oh okay. I thought it was protocol to wait that long. I was getting frustrated, well just a little. I hope mine is sooner than later. Thanks.
  12. Last night was the first night I used it. The NP recommend I try the nose (darn it I forgot what it was) with the nose pillows. He said that, that is what he uses and he loves it. Much more comfortable too. I don't know. All I know is I HAVE to use it if I want to have the surgery. I don't have any symptoms but maybe I've just learned to cope with them and don't realize it yet. Maybe a couple of days after I use the machine I will see an improvement. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
  13. How long after you saw the surgeon did you get your surgery date? I had the first appointment with mine on July 16th. then he gave me another month to lose 10 lbs. and finish all of my testing. Today I had a phone appoint. with the nurse practitioner and he told me maybe another month after I see the surgeon. That means 2 looooong months of waiting. It's killing me because I have to plan my classes ahead of time and it's slowing me down. Thanks.
  14. It's good to know there is hope for us who don't want to use it forever. I am sure the quality of sleep is was better with it than without it. I have a mild case of OSA 9.3 and the dr. just told me that if I use it for at least a month I will be able to set up my surgery. I am hoping I am able to do it. He also said that since I was able to sleep with it for the entire month chances are I will be successful at it. Wish me luck. I sure do need it. It wasn't easy.
  15. I think anything over a 5 is considered comorbidity because that's when they give you a CPAP machine to use. I have 9.3 and I have to use the machine. I just spoke to the dr. and he said he can almost assure that once I have the sleeve done and lose weight it will go back to normal...I hope so.
  16. I hope that once I have the surgery the OSA goes away. THey say it's a possiblitly. Crossing my fingers. Besides, it's not very sexy..
  17. Thank you. I will be speaking to the nurse practitioner today. I will mention it to him. I have heard about the nose mask with pillows have no clue what it is or even looks like but I will research when I get a moment. Thanks. I hope you find a mask that helps you.
  18. No the machine I have is a borrowed one from Kaiser. We get to test it out for a week, go back and purchase ours. I did start off with a level 4 and in the middle of the night I noticed it was a 9.5. Don't know what that means but I will have to ask the Dr. Thanks for the encouraging comments.
  19. No my intention was not to scare you at all. Just wanted you guys to know how I felt. However my son just told me he didn't hear me snore and his room is next to mine. My husband is away for another week so I know that when he comes back and I won't be snoring he will be one happy man...LOL!
  20. No I haven't had the surgery yet. I had to get a CPAP machine for sleep apnea. I got it yesterday and see the surgeon on the 17th. of August.
  21. I'd be calling every hour.... Good luck!!
  22. Yes you have time to lower it. Follow the meal plan. If you are able to do exercise do at least 30. min. I am , well was not one to go to the gym I was so intimidated of everyone judging me. When I had trouble with the medication I thought to myself...The heck with anyone judging me. I will do it for me. I really in the bottom of my heart think that helped a lot. I started with going 1 hour 5 to 6 times a week. I would do the elliptical at my own pace. If you can't find time for the gym maybe just walk around the block.
  23. Hello!! Well I used the CPAP machine last night and it was HORRIBLE. I feel way more exhausted and a light headache. At first when the first gush of air started flowing in I thought I was going to die. I had to have about 3 tries before I could even relax. The hoses and that little noise of air flowing are just very annoying. I kept waking up every so often. Maybe that's why I am tired. Oh and to top it off I wake up and notice my face is swollen. Ugh! However I did leave it on all night. I wanted to take it off so bad but just remember I need the surgery even more. I do have a phone appointment with the nurse practitioner, should I mention any of this, or will I seem like a whiney little ..bleep?
  24. Msinzee2010, Are you seeing a dietitian? I don't know where you are having your procedure done and if they gave you a meal plan. I am going thru Kaiser and they gave us a package and in it there was a 1200 calorie meal plan that is what I followed. I agree with Morticia you can do it. Look at as changing your lifestyle now instead of waiting for the surgery. That is what has kept me sane.
  25. Thank you so much for all of the great responses. I feel much better about the whole situation. I will try it tonight and see how it goes. I am really, really going to try using it so the report shows I do use it. I don't want them saying I'm noncompliant and prolong the surgery date. Thanks.
