I used to eat this late time pre-op. I'm still on clears but I certainly plan on trying it as soon as I can have solids. Since rice is pretty much off the table (for me) I plan to rely heavily on quinoa for filling that carby void.
  2. I saw mine during the final leak year as well. I expected to see a banana shape but it looked more like an intestine. Not as attractive as I expected. Ha!
  3. My surgery was 8/3 as well. Felt pretty good yesterday, lots more gas and gurgles today. I've got 2 more days here in the hospital and really hope the majority of my discomfort clears up by the time I am released.
  4. Correct breathing= in through the nose / out the mouth. If you're getting too winded for deep breaths try : in/ in out/out in shorter bursts. just remember in through the nose no matter how big of breaths you take. Mouth breathing should be a no-no. Congrats on making moves! The breathing will get easier as your fitness level improves
  5. My surgery is 8/31 too! Time is flying by and yet moving slowly. How can that be?! I'll be thinking of you on Friday, well at least before they drug me
  6. My PCP is an overweight woman who seemed offended by my desire to lose weight. She tried to talk to me about 'Fat Acceptance'. I explained that if I were merely overweight I could accept it, but I am OBESE. It was a very frustrating conversation. I have asked around here for a PCP recommendation in my area (Portland, OR) but haven't received any good leads. My surgery is at the end of this week in Mexico and I am dreading seeing this PCP for aftercare / follow up appts. If any fellow Portlanders see this, I'd love to hear about your PCP!
  7. I'm going to Dr Aceves for surgery next week. My total cost was $8750 and he was able to get me on schedule quickly.
  8. Congrats Dolly! I'm having surgery on the 31st, I just know this week will fly by!
  9. My BMI is 37. The optional diet was 'lo carb / high protein' for 7 days post op.
  10. I was wondering about this too....
  11. Awesome!! I want that! I am currently between 18-20 at 220lbs. Surgery is 1 week from today, and I cannot wait!! Thanks for sharing, you are doing awesome!
  12. It was optional for me too. I think it has to do with lower BMI and / or lack if co-morbidities.
  13. Does this mean you got pregnant at 3 months post op? Had you already hit your weightloss goal? You look beautiful and so happy!
  14. My I am 5'5 / 225 and wish this would have been an option for me at your age. I could have avoided the disorderd eating and binge drinking. I feel like I wasted my 20s. I also did not tell my folks until surgery was booked and deposit was paid. They turned out to be really supportive, but I didn't want to take a chance. My surgery is 8 days away!
  15. Not cookware (yet) but I did pick up some new glass food storage containers for taking small portions to work. I saw a tiny cast iron skillet that I may get eventually. I imagine using it for a tiny frittata or cute little omelettes.
  16. OMG!! One of the most stunning transformations I've seen here. I want that! I am so happy for you, congratulations!
  17. This post made me so happy! Thank you for the reassurance and congrats on your weightloss!
  18. I'm not sleeved yet, but I know you will focus 1st on protein
  19. Good luck, I'm sure you'll do great!!
  20. Thanks for the update speedbump! Please keep 'em coming. I'll keep you in my thoughts tomorrow, I'm sure you'll do great!
  21. I put off telling my mom for as Lin as possible. When I did tell her she was VERY supportive, it shucked me. Telling her was almost like coming out of the closet. It was a huge relief and I'm so glad I told her. I realize not everyone will have such a positive experience but I think you'll feel better even if she isn't into the idea. Good luck!
  22. Sorry you missed it. Sunrise over the mountains is nice too, maybe you'll be up for that Good luck, I'll be thinking of you!
