  1. I am not a huge fan of exercise myself. One thing I did fall in love with is zumba. I go with some friends once a week and it's a blast. I haven't been able to go for a few weeks because of surgery, but I can't wait to go again. They offer them for sure at 24 hour fitness and my YMCA offers them. My hour of exercise goes by fast and I was burning between 800-1000 calories.
  2. I am not quite 2 weeks post op and I feel worse than the short period of baby blues I went through after having my last kiddo. I cried like a spoiled brat when my husband said I couldn't buy a lotion for my dry skin. Then I cried my heart out when I didn't get a pedicure today. That's not the only things that have had the water works working over time! I don't really have anyone to talk to about it and my kids and husband are walking around me like they are on egg shells. I made lunch for my in laws the other day and then asked why I wasn't eating it with them. Uh, really?? They told my husband I was disrespectful! I show them a video of the surgery days before the incident, I inform them of my lifestyle change and that's how they react? How the heck do I handle this? I just wish I could find the cause of all these emotions before they take over completely. Does anyone have any advice??
  3. I had mine out last November and I still had the pains for 5 months after, and had the added bonus of "dumping". I don't know if you are going through the same pain I went through, but I was so upset it wasn't gone right away.

    2 Forms Of Bc

My doc was fine with me having just my IUD, but still told me to be careful. He said the first year to 18 months is not the best time to get pregnant due to the quick weight loss. Check with obgyn and see what he/she recommends. I personally don't like condoms as well. Good luck!

    The Cycle...!

Congrats!! I had an irregular cycle since early childhood, and was told in 2004 I had PCOS. I was put on BC for the same reasons, but my oldest child still found his way into the world. That was a pregnancy test shocker!! I have an IUD now and haven't had a period since November, which is normal for me. After my first child I didn't have a cycle for 5 years on my last IUD. Then I have surgery and now I'm on the 9th day of this cycle. It's driving my crazy and I'm going through the same thing! I dont know why it's correlated at all, but I can't tell which cramp is which. Take some midol, it helps. Also, get some heat packs. When you aren't used to having a cycle you aren't stocked up.

    I Can Not Stop Cooking

I think I'm losing it! I had surgery Aug 14th, I came home from the hospital on Thursday night. Since Friday evening all I want to do is cook. I'm not hungry, I'm not interested in even eating the food (not even to just lick it)! My family and in laws certainly don't mind, but what is going on? I'm spending so much time on pinterest gathering recipes and it's nothing I can eat. I spent 2 hours cooking in the kitchen just yesterday. Has anyone else gone through this?

    For The Kettlecorn Lovers

It's the type of kernel. When it pops its a large piece of popcorn and has a big top, that's where the name comes from. ACT popcorn and theater popcorn is considered "butterfly".
  9. I have battled anxiety for a while now. Before I was discharged from the hospital they gave me approval for all my meds, including my anxiety med. I am one week out and with the pain, unknown, and living with my in laws... I have not had one single panic attack since the day before surgery. I used to have one every other day or so. The only thing I can think of is that the pain meds are keeping relaxed. So I guess I will know if I need them still here soon when I no longer need the pain meds. Here's to positive thinking and no more anxiety!!

    For The Kettlecorn Lovers

My parents own a kettle corn company in Colorado springs. It's 50 calories for 1/2 cup. They have tried artificial sweeteners and it ruins the kernel while cooking in the actual kettle. They just add less sugar, use salt, "mushroom" popcorn, and canola oil. It's so delicious! Add them on Facebook if you like. Www.facebook.com/kettlechefs

    Are You Thirsty?

I am always thirsty and battle dry mouth, something I never had a problem with before surgery. I recommend to practice sipping your water now because when I drink more than 2 ounces within 15 minutes I burp and it comes right up. You still have to get down 64oz a day, which is hard in the beginning. I'm 7 day post op now

    Need Help

I purchased pb2 from whole foods. It's powdered peanut butter. 2 tablespoons is 5 g of protein. Very low calorie! I mix it with my shake to make it taste better. I hate the after taste. So if you like peanut butter this is a great choice! I Actually look forward to taking my protein shakes now. It's just reminding myself is the hard part.

    Creamy Avocado Dip

Also try avocado, lime, and egg. It's so good!! Almost forgot- with the egg added one serving is a 1/2 cup and has 9.3 g of protein!
  14. Go buy yourself a new, flattering outfit. Maybe even the next size down so you can watch yourself melt away and one week you will put it on and be excited you can fit in it. Or, go shopping and try new clothes on and take pictures of yourself and compare them to your before pics. Wearing the same clothes makes it harder to see the loss. Don't get discouraged! You have lost a good chunk of weight and should be proud !! Congrats on making it this far. We all have our downer days, it's how you pull yourself out of it that makes a differene. Which is hard to do, but if you find a way you will feel much better. Good luck to you!!

Almost Too Good To Be True

I hope it goes quickly for you! I had to do a 6 month supervised diet. So from the start of that till surgery date it was 9 months. I guess my PCP took a couple months to get all my paperwork in. Ugh! As soon as I had insurance approval I had surgery within 2.5 weeks. It went quick!
  16. Just to give you an idea 4 days post... My 1 Percocet I cut into 4 pieces and take each piece 3-5 min apart. If I try to make the pieces bigger or take less time between swallows it feels stuck. It's an uncomfortable feeling. So I would talk to your doc about it at your preop appt. There are some of my medicines they asked me to not take till my post-op appt. good luck!
  17. I had surgery Tuesday as well. I made the mistake of not setting my alarm to take my meds. When I woke up I was in so much pain it was all I could do to get off my bed! I have my alarm set now. I'm not making that mistake again
  18. I was able to come home today. I'm still battling nausea here and there. I have 2 kids and my youngest is still nursing (yes, my surgeon is aware and very supportive). I have been having issues nursing him because he wiggles around so much. He already ran into one of my incision sites and it hurt like holy heck. Aside from a straight jacket, I don't know what else to do in this sensitive time. The pump and I are not good friends. I am also battling changes in taste. My favorite Protein Shake tastes disgusting to me and I'm only 2 days out! Could it be the medication? I'm having problems drinking them every few hours and I'm really dragging my feet. I ordered unjury, but I have to wait for it to get here. I'm currently drinking EAS edge carb control. Any recommendations? Even my favorite juices taste too different for me to enjoy. I can't wait to be past this stage, but I'm struggling now! Any thoughts and recommendations are appreciated.

    Water Trouble

what app are you using? Are you just using a stop watch or timer or something specific?
  20. I have RTD. I like the idea of mixing the powder. I will give that a try!
  21. Don't stress yourself out like I did! I cheated and was so nervous about telling my surgeon. I cheated the DAY before! I was so mad at myself. I was still down 15 lbs from the start of the preop and apparently the liver is rarely a problem. It makes it easier on you and the surgeon if it's small as possible during surgery. My surgeon was very understanding. If you cheat, don't go off the deep end and eat just because you cheated. Once you realize your mistake, get right back on the liquid diet and exercise would be more beneficial than a laxative. Not everyone will admit they cheated. We are all human and no one is perfect! Good luck to everyone!
  22. I recommend facial wipes, too. The day after surgery I couldn't wait to brush my teeth and wash up. I had biotine mouthwash and toothpaste. It helped so much! Bring a pillow too to take home with you so you can get in and out of the car. Congrats and good luck!
