  1. I am 6 days post op and I feel awful and lots of regret. I felt awesome when I left the hospital and after taking pain meds felt horrible. I've been to er twice for iv to rehydrate and today I'm trying to stay on top of my fluids. I have a gnawing feeling in my stomach which I assume is hunger. almost thinking this was not worth it at all. somebody tell me this all goes away and. I will have my life back.

Yessss the Dr. Prescribed for me!!!

  2. Black Currant Oil is bought in a health food store or on line. I have read that the liquid filled caplets also called soft gels are best in both the Biotin and black currant oil. I have bought mine through Puritans Pride and http://www.vitaminsh...6&type=category and have always used the soft gels for better absorption. Here is some interesting reading. http://www.liveandfe...ck_currant.html

    Thank You Much ;)

  3. Good morning.. I can relate to your concerns. I thought that I had done everything to avoid hair loss' date=' but once it started, I thought I may go bald. It started falling out at about month 5 for me, huge losses each day. I had been taking Biotin and black currant for over a year in hopes of avoiding this. I made sure I got my Protein and Water requirements each day, but nothing helped. I came to this site because it didn't look like there would be any end and I was so discouraged.

I received encouraging information from many advanced sleevers who had been through this and assured me that it would stop and my hair would come back.

I was just starting month eight and one of the suggestions was to use a Biotin Shampoo, so I purchased an expensive brand that was all natural. It was so harsh on my hair so I discontinued it after three weeks. My hair is or was full, but baby fine and highlighted, going bald is not a good combination.

I then saw an ad and purchased Garnier's "Fall Fight" a new Hair loss shampoo that you can buy right in a regular department store. I swear it started working immediately. Being just three weeks out from starting this regiment, I have no hair loss now at all with the exception of normal few hairs on the shower floor. I also invested in a shower comb because my hair is long I had read that combing your hair in the shower with the conditioner in helps get it to the ends, stops breakage and helps stimulate the scalp. Getting good blood supply to the hair follicle is important.

You message this shampoo and conditioner in and then let it sit a few minutes, it causes a slight tingle.

Overall I am not sure what helped, maybe a combination of things or was it time to stop shedding? It was a concerning three plus months. I still take the biotin and black currant and have the strongest and longest nails I've ever had. My hair is growing back fast and furious. I have Long hair, but can run my fingers through my scalp and it feels like a porcupine in there. :-)

I have heard some people say that their hair came back thicker and healthier. I'm sure mine will come back GRAY, I have very few gray hairs but at my age deserves to have more. Gray is better than "hard" hair. Thankfully the sleeve has no mal-absorption component so if you eat well, the body should produce hair.

The downfall to using the biotin and black currant is hair will grow stronger EVERYWHERE, including the goat hairs you try so hard to keep at bay. It has not increased Hair growth where I didn't have hair. I envisioned a gorilla after I sent this . LOL Just buy new pluckers.. :-) Good luck and know that it will get better. The weight loss journey has it's bumps but I would change nothing, I'm close to goal and about 9.5 months.[/quote']

Thank you soooo Much i will try it!!!

    But what is black currant?

  5. Have something small and sweet "enough" to get you over the hump. This is NOT a diet and very few people can live the rest of their lives saying' date=' "I can never, ever, ever eat this particular food ever again and I'm okay with that."

You're doing well. This is a great opportunity to incorporate moderation and learn your weaknesses. Eating something sweet to satisfy the urge and go back to business as usual is normal - the goal here is to eat and live like a normal person, right? It doesn't mean binging on half a cheesecake or a pint of ice cream.

Sometimes something very small and simple, like a few hard candies, can do the trick. I only crave sweet during my cycle, but even doing something small like adding syrups and sweetening up an evening Protein shake (and making it thicker than usual with lots of ice) can satisfy that craving. If real sweet is what you want, O.T.R.sleever is absolutely right - buy small, eat a single portion, and go back to normal. Normal folks that never have a weight problem eat right about 90% of the time and eat what they want for that other 10%, and there's no problem with learning how to start doing that now, instead of figuring it out once you're at goal.

If you find a trigger here, you know what you have to avoid because it's an issue for you. The idea is to find something that's not as bad as your pre-op choices without completely jumping off the wagon and forgetting everything you've learned in the last four months.

Oh, and I'll add that in my opinion, go full fat, full sugar or you're wasting your time. I full well remember my diet days of eating half a box of "diet" ice cream or Cookies because they were full of artificial junk that didn't satisfy the craving. If you're going to eat a sweet, make it good enough that you're satisfied after two or three bites! And work on the guilt about eating - because there are healthier and less healthy choices, but learning to control our emotions around food is part of being happy and healthy at goal. This means not feeling guilt for eating like a normal person, not obsessing about food like we used to, and of course, controlling the desire to eat emotionally or binge.[/quote']

    Thank You

  6. Sweets were always my weakness. I am 3 weeks out and just had a SF vanilla pudding and it is so sweet I didn't enjoy it. I would be thrilled if my tastes change to where I don't care for sweets anymore.

Rose...can you find something SF to satisfy the urge? Maybe a SF fudgescicle? Do you have 7-11's where you live? Their Crystal Light Slurpees are yummy.

    Good luck!

@ the Begining i had problems with sweets but now is coming down with no problem...

I need something to stop this, after i eat something sweet i feel guilty

  7. Mine told me to increase to 800-1' date='000 from 600. I was sleeved on June 8th. I work out every day, so she had me increase it, but I'm lucky if I make it to 800![/quote']

I know Misslisa,, same thing i am going thru, i eat probably 600... How many have u lost so far?

  8. How many calories are you consuming at this stage? I'm close to eating the same things and MFP (my fitness pal) says I'm near 6-800 calories. Am I over doing it for this stage?

I was sleeved on June 5 and lost 50 pounds, my nutrisionist told me only consume 800 a day!!

  9. I am 7 weeks out today and was wondering how many calories and exercise everyone is getting in at this point. Personally I shoot for 600-700 cals and am jogging&walking about 4 times a week (1.5 miles). I do not know if this is normal or not.

I just want everyone to post what they are doing :) also' date=' I would love if everyone left their myfitnesspal info so we can be friends![/quote']
