  1. Labor Day is September 3rd so we have 8 weeks and 4 days in this challenge. How much do you want to lose?

I currently weigh 190.4 and I would like to weigh 175 by Labor Day. I hope this is doable in 8 weeks. My weight loss has slowed downed a lot since my work outs were ramped up.

    Here are my goals:

    1. Make it to the 170's

    2. Lose 15.4 lbs

    3. Log food every day into MFP

    4. Exercise 4-5 a week

    5. Make it to week 10 on Couch to 5 K

    Please join me!!!

Hi... I am 211 my goal for labor day weekend is 199... My WL is slow again!!!

  2. Hi all! I'm a podiatrist in private practice and am planning on eleven days @ home post-op. I am busy @ work but have a great assistant and put off doing surgery for a few additional weeks. I'll just be seeing patients in clinic. Do u think I'll be ok? (assuming no complications!). Thanks for your input & thoughts.

    I think

    Is too soon;(

  3. The nutritionist should really be guiding your choices. I was looking for more info myself' date=' but I will share some of what I was told

6 meals a day spaced 2 1/2 to 3 hrs apart ( I have not managed to get this much food down yet)

No liquids 30 min before or After; rest of day shoot for 48 oz or more low fat, low sugar liquids; no carbonation ( again I have a hard time getting that much liquid down)

2 oz protein; 1 oz carb each meal

1 meal should be 8 oz Protein liquid supplement ( I use mostly muscle milk light - 20 gm protein; 100 cal)

    Avoid:

Nuts, seeds, whole grains, fibrous meats, fresh fruits and veggies, bread, Pasta, and rice

Sample proteins; ( 2oz) at one time

Soft cheese; American, munster, feta, cream cheese, small curd low fat cottage cheese, part skim ricotta cheese

    Dannon light and fit yogurt

Jello non fat sugar free pudding made with skim or 1%

Skim or 1% with no sugar added carnation instant Breakfast

Soft biled, poached or scrambled egg

tuna, egg, chucked or egg salad made with low fat mayo - avoid celery and onion

    Flaked fish - avoid shellfish

    Ground beef, chicken or turkey

Peanut butter; natural creamy and low fat

Soups ( low fat) puréed if chunky)

I was also told baby food stage 1 or 2 chicken, beef, etc. I tasted it when my children were babies and I thought it was gross; so I'm going to take a pass on this one!

    Sample carbs: (1 oz)

    Crackers, plain saltine

Hot Cereal, farina, oatmeal. Cream of wheat

Soggy. Cold cereal (2 Tb Cheerios w/ 1/2 cup skim)

Skinless mushy fruit; applesauce, banana, baby food fruit,

Mashed potatoes or mashed sweet potatoes (real potatoes not the processes instant kind)

Hope this helps. I also have sample menu plans.[/quote']

Omg you are Great.... All those tips are great!!

  4. I am traveling home with my family on a road trip and everyone is snacking. I feel like a drug addict in a room of drugs. Really getting bitchy too. Family is taking the brunt. Surgery tomorrow. Getting nervous.

    .

Are you on liquid Diet... Drink cold Water or pop sicle... And dont pay them no mind, just picture your self in a year from Today.... Good Luck

  5. Another way to see this is as an adjustment period after a big loss...( here is the reason to be EXCITED about an adjustment..) its followed by another big loss.

Having said that' date='I still freak out if it lasts too long!It just puts doubt in my mind.

I've lost really fast for my age and genentics by eating real solid Proteins.Hardly ever needed a shake since I could eat.

You will look at your friend, that's what we do even if we know we shouldnt. So,if you say she eats lots, how what does she eat that you dont and what does lots mean?

40 pounds in 2 months seems great to me.Will go and see where I was at 2 months out but it seems like a heck of a lot more than what some people lose.

    xxo[/quote']

My Friend can Eat wheat toast, eggs and 3 slices turkey ham, she ears chicken with broccoli, and more, it's like crazy because me, in the morning i have yogurt with fruits and skim milk blended, and Soup for lunch, a greek yogurt for snack, and when i come home probably tuna fish, chicken salad or chicken thight, but like bread and me can get alone :( i have notice that carbs and I are not Good... I only eat 2 or 3 wheat thins crackers with tuna or Hummus....

  6. A couple of things. First' date=' don't compare yourself to your friend. That will drive you crazy. Everyone loses weight at a different pace. BUT everyone that does this loses weight! You have done great so far. You have lost an average of five pounds per week! If you had done that on a diet like weight watchers, you would be celebrating! Second, I have read on this forum that stalls are completely normal. I had my surgery the day before you and experienced a stall for a couple of weeks and then a very small creeping down of the scale for a few weeks and then boom, suddenly losing again. Based on what I have read, I expect that this will happen again. It's frustrating, but it happens. If you are following the plan, drinking your fluids, eating your Proteins and keeping carbs low, and exercising you will continue to lose weight and get to your goal. As for shake, look at how much Protein you are getting with food alone. If you are making it to 60-80 grams per day, then you are doing fine. If not, consider adding a Protein Shake to get you there. I have to drink at least one shake per day because I can't get all my Protein in with food alone.

    Keep up the good work![/quote']

    Thank You!!!!

  7. I want to Celebrate and shout from the rooftops! I made my surgeons goal on my appt day! I didnt even know he had a goal for me and he turns to me and says' date=' "Congratulations, you made goal!" I said what??? I made up an arbitrary goal of 135 because i remember weighing that in college. I had no idea what my goal was supposed to be... He said "see, your ideal weight is 138 and I weighed in at exactly 138! Wow.. I thought I had missed it by three pounds but it was so refreshing to say that I finally made A goal. I always fall short but not this time! My wonderful hubby made a great slideshow of the whole process, starting from our Brazil vacation spring of 2011 to now. Its been quite a ride!!!!! Woohooo... I cant believe I made my surgeons goal in exactly one year!!!!! Wooop! enjoy the show..

But i feel i am going to slow Compare to others, and i have notice that when i am getting my Monthly Friend, my weight STOP.... But any way i feel GREAT... Can wait to hit 199..... Good Luck all

  9. Will be 4 weeks tomorrow... Down 26lbs last week.... Will post tomorrow my total lost. I'm eating everything I want' date=' very little of it but if I want a taste I have it, trying to stay away from junk food though. Was away all weekend and had French onion Soup, broth and one bite of the cheese, and the onions are all I ate, also luv luv butter chicken, ordered some today for lunch no rice, chicken very tender and sauce so good, but again only ate about 1/4c at a time. My downfall will be drinks, love my ice coffee, chai tea lattes, mochas, orange julious, smoothies, may take me hrs to drink but unneeded calories. It was really hard spending the weekend away surrounded by yummy foods, would love to have a regular meal.[/quote']

Hi Tania, that's a big problem i have too, i live my cold drinks, i wish i can get a iced chai from starbucks, but i am scared, and i also like fat free sorbet, anything cold i dont have problem..

  10. I was sleeved June 4th and have lost 33lbs but havent' lost anything for a week and a half and this week even gained a lb but I think that was due to sodium intake the night before. It definately a journey and not a race. This surgery helps you in that you feel full on very little food but it doesn't make the weight fall off unless you work at it by watching the food you do put in and by continuing to exercise.... eventually it will fall off' date=' I'm convinced of that1[/quote']

I am going thru the same situation, i have been on the same weight since last week, i am not eating a lot, been throwing up a lot the meat, so i dont understand what i am doing wrong that i am not loosing, i am eating popsicle sugar free or 8g sugar, is that the reason?
