  1. I can answer this one I think- What I looked for when I saw people and what I believe others look for is emotional stability- also ruling out specific disorders that most definitely need specific medications that I believe are not easily regulated with such surgeries as the way certain meds are metabolized after theses surgeries are not all known or regulated well. So emotionally stable- sound support system; problem solving ability- likelihood of following through with dr recommendations; etc.
  2. Yey!!!! What an AWESOME feeling that must be! Let the countdown begin!

I'm from Wisconsin- anyone ever work with UMR? (I don't know what it stands for off the top of my head)
  4. Like what? I want to be prepared but not sure with what. I think it's a huge joke they made me do these past 6 months. A waste of everyone's time and money. Gah! Wish I could just send in and see. My last appt Aug 13
  5. Congrats!!! How exciting . I'm so nervous my insurance will play games with me after reading all these stories
  6. Thanks- but I fight versad so much I usually need about 4-5 tries. I don't want this procedure. . U guys are so supportive. I LOVE that I found this website. I had heparin during my pregnancy and now am allergic.
  7. Why did u have to have this done? I will never do this awake- please tell me it's boy a routine part of this?!
  8. Omg this freaked me out. I had a blood clot when I was PG. yikes!!!!! I don't want this- at least while I'm awake :-(
  9. I, like many of you, had my gall bladder out just a few years ago. I Call it gall bladder gone bad surgery because I was there for a month after thy cut my common bike duct. Anyway I had many complications but the worst pain I endured was pancreatitis. I would give birth 20 times than to suffer that again. I ha dilaudid - fentanyl and man- nothing was helpful. So- check that out too. Yuck yuck yuck. If it is- they won't let you eat as that will irritate the heck out of it . . Sorry you're in so much pain
  10. Sending positive thoughts your way
  11. Yey for you! can't wait to hear more!
  12. This is so supportive and helpful. I quit pop today even though I know it won't be a problem for me later. I haven't done well in the pre op six months becuse my brain knows it doesn't "have to" but now that it's getting into the last 1.5 months- I'm ready! Getting my Water in. I need to get In exercise but it's been so hot and humid I stay away from outside. Yuck. I think I will take your advice and start my fitness pal. Thanks for all the tips! I'll be sure to refer back to this often
  13. Ugh! I feel like I have nothing productive to say. I'm sick of the wait- I'm sick of the hoops and sick of feeling so fatigued. I don't like how insurance companies control this but I'm plugging along. Just one more meeting on August 13 and then they will submit to insurance. I'm told by the docs not to worry about it- But you can't help but worry of they will pull the rug from underneathe you. In all seriousness- I have in my mind a date of September 10. So that's what it will be because I need something to look forward to. Am I whining too much? Also wondering how much (on average) people have lost the first month or two. I don't need to lose fast- as long as I lose it
  14. Hang in there. You're almost there!!! I still have over a month yet so I'll be checking back to see how you are! Good luck
  15. Luck!! My mind has been awful with it. I have some autoimmune issues already suffering with fatigue- took myself off those meds as I truly believe this surgery and weight loss will help- but in the process of jumping through hoops I've gained a bunch. And it's hot and humid and I don't do well with that. I feel like a whiner. I am . Really though- lots of luck and happiness sent your way :-)
  16. I'll be a September baby Yey! Won't know date until end of August. Counting the days....
  17. Omg I'm so excited for you!! Sorry- no advice but I'm new on here and hope to have surgery early -mid September. You have to be so excited!!! Ok maybe a little advice- forget the bras. Darn things are uncomfortable.
  18. This is so sad yet so not surprising to me. I haven't had surgery yet- been married almost 17 years with 2 wonderful kids. I'll say that I am not an angelic wife (because I don't want to be) by no means but historically my husband pulled this crap in the way past- I went back (kids) and as I have matured in my life I find myself questioning that more and more. I look forward to surgery- I look forward to confidence in my self image again. I did go through the psych eval (passed) and don't feel for a second I have unresolved stuff to work through. For me- this surgery is about finding me again. In the end- it could make us stronger or it will break us. But for me- one thing is certain- I will be happy and nobody is going to get in the way of that. One life to live . So- I hope you find that in your heart in these next few months. Concentrate on you. Only you have control of your happiness.
  19. Hi! I don't have a date yet but estimated early - mid September. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to it. Unlike everyone else it seems all I'm doing is gaining weight on this 6 month pre req for insurance. Gah! R u excited?? Counting down the days?
  20. Yey for you!!! I had to do 6 months too and I gained every month. So let's say I can't wait until its over and the date is here. Best of luck to you! (I have one more month left and hope to have surgery mid September)
  21. Thanks! My surgery should be mid September sometime. I'll find out by the end of August. Summer couldn't go by faster for me. Yuck- hate the heat and humidity. So how many days stay in the hospital for all of you?
  22. Sounds like you are doing well- I have the same question- how long in hospital?
  23. It's official. I'm getting old because I can't figure this out- of course I'm on my phone as my laptop crashed. Anyway- I'm SUPER excited to get the sleeve done and hopefully that will be mid September. FINALLY some hope to this yo yo weight problem is going to come to an end. In all honesty- when the day comes the staff at the hospital should probably prepare as I will totally be freaking out (petrified of hospitals) BUT good will come of it right? So that's my first post. Boring but I'll be reading others and will chat more I'm sure
