  1. Donna, didn't your sister do her own post on here somewhere? Katt might like to read that one. Thanks,
  2. Good for you Jerry. The first week I diluted the broth 1/2 water, and I fount it soothing to my new stomach. Best of luck
  3. Yeehaaa back at ya. It's exciting, try not to worry, you'll be fine. best of luck
  4. I am glad you went to your doctor! I was going to mention water to you next. I can get acid refulux with water, if I drink it plain. I can only drink 2 or 3 glasses of water a day. What I do with my water most of the day, is add about 1oz of unsweetend juice. Like white cranberry. For some reason adding just a little something changes the ph balance of something I don't know but it works for me. Glad you're on you way to healing.

    Vacation

    Boy, a little trip would be so nice right now.
  6. My stalls come and go. After three weeks, I didn't lose for over a week. I am not quite 2 months out, but i seem to lose 1lb, then another lb the next day. and then a stall for 4 or 5 days. But I am fine with that. It's going the right direction !!
  7. Now that's just whining Ouroborous )
  8. Oh come on katt......read the threads. She is the sister of the woman who has been in the hospital for 4 months, in ICU a good portion of that time, barely surviving a botched surgery.

    It's Been a Rough Day

    Didn't mean to sound harsh. Are you taking alot of meds. I do, and they can cause heartburn for me. I space them out during the day (a logistics nightmare, since some are once, twice or three times a day). The reason 80 mg sounds high to me.....is I take 20 mg. I'm curious did you have heartburn before surgery, or only after? I had it before, and my doctor started me on daily Prilosec before surgery to make sure i did not have any problems, or he wasn't going to do the surgery. Also, since you've lost 26 lbs, can you lower your cPAP just a little without it causing you dry mouth? Like I said, I have been having problems with CPAP since surgery. I seem to do okay with using it every third night. I am hoping the more weight I lose, that the less I will need it. But I understand where you are coming from. There is also a psychological aspect to it. I used to feel like I was going to croak if I didnt' use it. I was afraid not to use it. Anyway, I hope you find ways to help your situation. Les

    Leak Repair?

    Good for you! At least you get a breather over the weekend. It's good that you are following up so quickly on these issues. It will make all the difference to a speedy recovery. Best wishes.

    Finally, after so many years ....

    Well that explains alot. You might want to consider counseling to help you through this. And, as OregonDaisy said, try some Alanon meetings. Good luck.

    Cost for VSG

    You insurance will show your coverag, deductibles, etc. This is different for everyone, dependant on their policy. So, somone should be able to give you numbers. I have Kaiser, and even they have different policy grades. I had to pay $650 deductible.....and then co-pays for office visits.

    return of ghrelin

    Thanks Tiff, yes i forgot to add the pancreas. And I was curious when I read that, if that's why some people feel hunger still.

    It's Been a Rough Day

    Be careful about not taking too much omeprazole. Just because you're allowed to go into another food stage, doesn't mean you should be eating everything. They tell you to try one thing at a time to see how you tolerate it. Why are you eating this stuff when you have been having acid problems? Go back to square one. Get your tummy stabilized. and they slowly add food. but mash potatoes? They are heavy in the stomach. I think you are right. you have irritated your sleeve. Let it heal. And call your doctor before taking more omeprazole. Also, I have found the CPAP has not always been my freind after this surgery. Check with you doctor to make sure it isn't contributing to your reflux. Good luck.
  17. I think it depends on the person. I would not have been able to go back to work after two weeks, even three. But, I am in my late fifties and I don't heal as quickly as I would like. Some people like Janet bounce right back. So there you have it.
  18. I agree with Swiftflow......go with the sleeve, and if you need to upgrade to DS. If you have been monitoring this site, you have noted the success with the sleeve. Since you were banded before you still had to deal with Ghrelin right? with the sleeve your hunger (at least for the majority) is minimal if at all. That helps with your choices a great deal. But do your research to where you feel comfortable, and we will be here to support you.
  19. When you're trying to lose weight, I woudn'y recommend something that is going to give you incredible munchies.........seems self defeating.

    Pre- op diet blues

    It will get better soon enough. You're on you way now! Good luck.
  21. You probably don't know anyone who has it. But, oxycontin sustained release really helped me. I need to take it for my back.

    return of ghrelin

    That's too bad Thineoneday, it's one of the perks of this type surgery. I went on to read more articles about Ghrelin. They didn't know much about it, until 1999. And that some people have much more than others, which they think has a lot to do with obesity. The hormone works on an eating cycle where is slows if you eat, and grows when you don't. They also go on to say that they do not know yet if it will return to those who no longer have it.

    Having second thoughts

    Good for you. Welcome to the losers bench. so glad your procedure went so well.
  24. You poor thing. I can't even imagine. We have been worried about you, and it sounds like you have alot more that you're going to have to deal with. Can you sue them for negligence? I know money cannot bring back the time you've lost, and the pain you suffer, but I would hope that this gets addressed. Best wishes, Les
